Chapter 695: Almost Got Splashed with Sulfuric Acid on My Face.

"I don’t have a cold," Su Wanxin whispered in response.

"Then shall I take you to get an injection?"

"...You’re the one who’s sick!"

Su Wanxin glared at him, then turned and sat down on the bed. Fu Shihan walked over, forcefully scooped her up into his lap, and then, lowering his head to look at her, asked, "Still feeling unwell?"

Su Wanxin pursed her red lips, remaining silent.

...

After holding her for a while and whispering to her, Fu Shihan finally breathed a sigh of relief and left assured that she had no other issues.

After Fu Shihan left, Su Yao came to visit. Her gaze quickly swept across the room and Su Wanxin’s body, then she nodded and left as well.

Su Wanxin went to bed early that evening because she had to go to the company the next day.

She had missed a whole day of work, and if she didn’t show up again, people at the company would probably start thinking she had run off and disappeared.

On the side of the road outside Su’s Brokerage, a grey sedan had been parked since morning. It was an ordinary make, a Volkswagen, and looked nondescript without any noticeable features.

This area was surrounded by companies, and parking spots along the roadside were filled with cars, so nobody paid any attention to it.

Inside the sedan, two women and a man were quietly planning something, occasionally glancing toward the entrance of Su’s Brokerage, seemingly waiting for someone to appear.

Su Wanxin was busy all morning at the company. During the lunch break, she and Chen Lei went out to eat. However, as soon as they stepped out of the company’s main entrance, she narrowly avoided having acid thrown in her face.

Walking alongside Chen Lei and the others, she headed towards a restaurant they frequented often. After taking only a few steps, she saw two women swiftly running towards her.

From the first glance, Su Wanxin felt something was off about them, because of their clothing.

In this area, everyone was fashionably dressed, if not in branded clothing, at least well put together. Nobody would be wearing sportswear and down jackets, with masks on and black backpacks slung over their shoulders.

Secondly, their gazes were fixed directly on her, and the looks in their eyes were very unfriendly, even hateful.

Thus, after recognizing these two issues, Su Wanxin immediately went on guard.

One of the women ran faster and reached Su Wanxin first. Without saying a word, she grabbed Su Wanxin’s arm, trying to prevent her from escaping.

At first, Chen Lei and the others hadn’t realized what was happening, thinking the woman was just rudely rushing over and bumping into them. It wasn’t until they saw her grabbing Su Wanxin’s arm that they understood something was wrong.

From the start, Su Wanxin had no intention of running away. She didn’t bother with the woman beside her, but focused her attention on the other person with the backpack.

Seeing the person take out a mineral water bottle from the bag, she quickly became alarmed, reached back to pull the woman beside her in front of her as a shield, and gave a hard push.

"Brother Lei, don’t let her open the bottle in her hand!"

Su Wanxin shouted urgently. Chen Lei was taken aback for a moment but then realized what she meant and swiftly went over, knocking the bottle out of the woman’s hand.

The bottle cap was just unscrewed, and as it fell to the ground, spilling its contents, everyone’s faces changed color.

Seeing their plan foiled, the two women tried to run away but neither managed to escape.

Su Wanxin watched as the two women were caught by Chen Lei and the others, listening to their loud screams and cries for help and decency, her gaze piercingly sharp and detached as she surveyed the surroundings.
