Chapter 652: Forced to Attend the Hongmen Banquet

Su Yao looked distressfully at the car, completely indecisive.

Could she just be upfront and say that she and Lu Ci broke up because they were incompatible? Or more bluntly, say she was never Lu Ci’s girlfriend in the first place?

"Miss Su, please."

The bodyguard urged softly. Su Yao reluctantly glanced at him and trudged over. As she opened the car door, she saw an elderly man sitting in the back seat.

Su Yao really felt like crying. She bent down to get into the car, pursing her lips and forcing a smile as she made eye contact with Lu Zhenning.

"Hello, Grandpa."

Lu Zhenning sized her up with a smile and nodded, "Hello. I hope I didn’t startle you by coming here suddenly?"

"...No."

Yeah, right.

"He really does look somewhat like the Fu family girl," Lu Zhenning thought, having heard that she and Su Wanxin were twins. He had been skeptical, but seeing her now, he had to believe it.

Hearing him mention Su Wanxin, Su Yao grew cautious.

She slowly pulled out her phone and sent a message to Lu Ci. Just a simple plea for help: "Save me."

Lu Ci was startled when he saw the message, and wanted to call her to ask what was happening, but he restrained himself and texted her back instead.

Though Lu Ci said this, he quickly wrapped up his work and set out to find her.

Lu Ci made several calls and finally confirmed which restaurant Lu Zhenning was headed to. He drove straight there, fearing not going would mean Su Yao wouldn’t even want to see his face later.

Su Yao sat in the car, which soon arrived outside Su Wanxin’s company.

Su Wanxin was about to go home after work when she was stopped and, utterly confused, got into the car. She saw Su Yao and an unfamiliar old man together and silently communicated with her through glances.

Su Wanxin: What’s going on?

Su Yao: How would I know?

Su Wanxin: So what do we do now?

Su Yao: No idea, just tough it out?

Su Wanxin gave an awkward cough and then heard Lu Zhenning ask, "Has the Fu girl not been home for a while?"

It took Su Wanxin a moment to realize he was referring to her.

Did this old gentleman think she’s one of the Fu Family?

"Grandpa, my name is Su Wanxin, I don’t carry the Fu surname," Wanxin explained awkwardly.

"So aren’t you supposed to be marrying that Fu rascal?"

The old man really went straight for the difficult questions.

Su Wanxin thought for a while, then replied, "Whether or not I’m getting married is still uncertain, and even if I did, I wouldn’t change my surname."

"Oh, so it’s uncertain?" Lu Zhenning laughed, "Then tell me, under what circumstances would you not marry him?"
