Chapter 601: Ex-boyfriend and His Current Girlfriend

Chapter 601: Ex-boyfriend and His Current Girlfriend

Su Yao looked at him with an alert expression, her nerves tense.

Lu Ci was puzzled. People like Su Yao were definitely pursued from a young age and should have had several boyfriends before, so why was she still so easily embarrassed?

"I really have a nice piece of Jade, how about finding time to see it?"

Lu Ci used this as bait, and after some consideration, Su Yao finally nodded.

"Alright, bring it with you tonight when we meet."

"The item is in the hotel, and I have to go to the branch office this afternoon, so there’s no time. If you want to see it, it will have to be at least tomorrow."

That meant, if she wanted to see that treasure, she would have to meet him at least twice more.

Su Yao took a deep breath and nodded again. "Then tomorrow."

She wondered what tricks he would pull tomorrow.

After finishing up here, Su Yao parted ways with Lu Ci, and then later at night, he picked her up and took her to a dinner party.

Su Yao had a certain level of fame here at Empire, primarily because she focused on international trade and had cooperated with numerous companies. As soon as she appeared with Lu Ci, somebody recognized her.

Everyone saw the two of them together but did not react strangely, simply assuming they were business partners.

Lu Ci mingled for a while, then leaned over and whispered in Su Yao’s ear, "What do you think, if I told them you are my girlfriend, would they still be so calm?"

Su Yao: "...Would you just shut up, please?"

"Alright."

Su Yao glared at him, too lazy to say more, until she saw a man she hadn’t seen in a long time and who she really disliked.

The moment Su Yao saw him, she immediately took Lu Ci’s arm, causing Lu Ci to be stunned and turn to look at her.

"Don’t look at me and don’t act too surprised. Just help me out in this emergency."

Lu Ci raised an eyebrow, looked around for the cause of her discomfort, and then noticed a man and a woman not far from them looking in their direction.

The man’s expression when looking at Su Yao was somewhat complicated, causing Lu Ci to immediately think of relationships like ex-boyfriends.

He turned his head to whisper in Su Yao’s ear for confirmation: "Ex-boyfriend and his current girlfriend?"

"Nonsense, he’s just a jerk, I never liked him!"

When Su Yao spoke those words, she was gritting her teeth in anger, clearly not looking like someone who didn’t care.

Lu Ci took another look at the man, sizing him up, then felt relieved.

If that was her standard, he definitely had a chance.

Su Yao took Lu Ci, turned around, and walked away without sparing those two a glance. Once they were far away, she bit her lip and said in a slightly low tone, "He’s really not my ex-boyfriend, just... someone who tricked me before."

As Lu Ci thought, Su Yao had never lacked suitors over the years.

There were many chasing her in the early years, especially during school, so many declarations she couldn’t even keep track.

However, she was mature for her age back then, disdaining those little boys, and only liked mature and successful individuals.

Later, when she started working, the number of men showing interest lessened. Some kept their distance because of her temper and intimidating personality, others due to her family’s connections, having enough sensibility.

The man she just saw had confessed to Su Yao years ago, and had almost succeeded.

The reason it was ’almost’ was because Su Yao had started to feel moved.

But then, just when she was about to agree, she discovered that the bastard had been scheming from the start, all just to steal a client from her.
