Chapter 584 Su Yao: Liking me is useless, we’re not meant to be!

Lu Ci stared at her for a moment and couldn’t help but laugh.

Why is her face red again? Miss, if you have something to say, could you please speak instead of blushing all the time? You make it seem like there’s really something going on between us!

Lu Ci felt it was necessary to have a good talk with her, so he proposed, "How about we go eat first and talk while we eat?"

Su Yao glanced at the secretary, nodded, and the two of them turned to go downstairs.

Upon reaching the parking lot, just as Lu Ci was about to ask whose car they should take to the restaurant, he heard her say, "Let’s skip the meal, I’ll just say a couple of things and then I’ll leave."

Lu Ci: "Didn’t you just agree to it upstairs?"

"That was out of respect for you." Su Yao rolled her eyes: "Let me just tell you straight, nothing’s going to happen between us."

Lu Ci: "..."

"No matter how much you like me, it’s futile because I’m never going to like you."

Lu Ci heard this and couldn’t help raising an eyebrow, "Is this how all of you lawyers like to give people the cold hard truth?"

"It depends on the person," Su Yao candidly said. "You’re just getting dragged into this because of Fu Shihan, so blame him if you want to blame anyone, not me."

Lu Ci chuckled, leaning against the car and sizing her up. He remembered the time she held her phone case toward him which read "What are you looking at?" written on it, and suddenly wanted to tease her.

"What if I persistently pursued you? What does Fu Shihan have to do with it? You’re marrying me in the end, not him."

Su Yao: "???"

How did it get to discussing marriage all of a sudden? How much must he like her?

Su Yao took a couple of vigilant steps back, shaking her head, "No way!"

Her reaction was too funny. With a smile in the corner of his mouth, Lu Ci thought for a moment and nodded, "Okay, let’s not talk about that. How much does Fu Shihan owe you? How did it happen?"

He was still a bit curious about this matter. Fu Shihan, as cunning as he might be in business, surely wouldn’t dare to mess with Sister Wanxin, right?

"We forgot to discuss the financial part when we were talking about the cooperation before, so I’m here to collect today," Su Yao suddenly thought of something and hesitantly asked, "How long have you known Fu Shihan?"

"Over twenty years."

That would mean he knows Fu Shihan quite well.

Su Yao had previously thought about probing Lu Ci for information on Fu Shihan, and this seemed like a good opportunity now.

"... Let’s go, let’s go eat." Su Yao suddenly changed her mind, justifying her decision with bravado, "It’s not every day a swindler treats, so why not eat for free?"

She had calculations written all over her face, which Lu Ci could clearly see. Laughing, he got into the car with her, curious about the medicines she was metaphorically selling in her gourd.

Su Yao asked for the address and used her phone’s navigation. The traffic was a bit congested, making the car’s speed somewhat slow.

Lu Ci was looking down, texting Fu Shihan with his phone, asking him what he was up to. After seeing Fu Shihan’s reply, he turned his head pensively and looked at Su Yao.

Fu Shihan said that sooner or later everybody needs to find a girlfriend, and with such a good target, why not consider it?

Actually, Lu Ci knew exactly what Fu Shihan was scheming. He wanted Lu Ci to win over Su Yao to help solve a difficult problem for him.

But then again, what Fu Shihan said made sense.

One had to find a partner sooner or later, especially with the increasing pressure from his family in recent years, practically arranging hundreds of blind dates for him, expecting him to go out and meet women every day. This was something Lu Ci found a bit overwhelming.

Rushing into marriage was not an option. He had to find someone he genuinely liked.

"What are you looking at?" Even while driving and focusing on the road ahead, Su Yao could feel his intense gaze.

"Is there really not even a slight chance between the two of us?"
