Shattered by Fate, Restored by Truth

Chapter 572: Those Forgotten Past, Always Tormenting Me.

Chapter 572: Those Forgotten Past, Always Tormenting Me.

Su Yao felt the moisture on her shoulder and gently patted her back.

Su Wanxin cried with her head bowed, overwhelmed by distress.

Nobody wants to live a troubled life, nobody hopes to lay down their life for someone else.

She too was afraid, that betting everything including her life felt like walking on the edge of a cliff, where one could fall at any moment, shattered to pieces.

"Yaoyao, tell me what I should do."

Leave? Can’t bear to. Stay? Uneasy at heart.

"Those past memories that I’ve forgotten, they constantly torment me, reminding me not to forget.

It hurts to see Fu Shihan, and it also hurts to see Fu Shiyi.

That day when I saw his mother in the wheelchair, thinking about others saying it was me who broke her legs, I couldn’t even dare to meet her eyes."

"Don’t be afraid," Su Yao clenched her teeth and whispered reassuringly, "I’m with you. Whatever happens, I’m here with you."

Su Wanxin didn’t know what to do; could she really think it through?

Su Yao said, "If I tell you to come back with me to Empire and never return, would you be willing?"

Su Wanxin’s body tensed, and she shook her head.

"What else can we do then," Su Yao smiled bitterly, "Stick it out till the end. Do what you want to do, for everything else, we are here."

Downstairs, in the distance, a black Bentley slowly made its way along the path and stopped below the building.

Su Yao, hugging Su Wanxin, cast a gloomy gaze and saw Fu Shihan getting out of the car.

After getting off, Fu Shihan instinctively looked over here and then, pausing in his steps, frowned and came to a stop.

In the deep of the night, he saw the two standing on the third-floor platform. It was so cold, why weren’t they going back to their rooms to rest? What were they doing there?

Looking more closely, he saw Su Wanxin with her back towards him, hugging Su Yao and resting her head on Su Yao’s shoulder.

Is she crying?

Fu Shihan’s brow furrowed deeply, watching Su Yao bring Su Wanxin inside, hesitating before he headed home.

Once inside, he took out his phone and sent a text to Su Wanxin.

Shihan: What’s wrong? Who’s bullying you?

Waiting for a reply felt like an eternity. Fu Shihan sat on the living room sofa and waited for over ten minutes before he received her message.

Su Xiaopian: Nothing, it was just stuffy indoors, so Yaoyao and I went out for some air.

The response matched the nickname he had given her in his phone. Fu Shihan sighed, tossed his phone aside, and was restless with worry.

What exactly is wrong with her? Wasn’t everything fine at the charity dinner?

Fu Shihan quickly reviewed everything that had happened at the dinner and couldn’t find anything awry.

He did see her chatting with Fu Shiyi in a corner for a bit...

The more he thought about it, the more anxious he became, unable to sleep. So he got up and went out again.

Su Wanxin lay in bed, hugging Yangyang, mulling over some matters. Suddenly, her phone on the pillow began to vibrate. She picked it up and saw that it was Fu Shihan calling.

She answered the call and heard his deep voice: "Balcony, open the door."

Su Wanxin was stunned for a moment and turned her head to look towards the window. Not sure if she had misunderstood, she still quickly got out of bed, walked over, pulled back the curtain, and then saw the man standing on the balcony outside the French window.

Her breath caught, she opened the door, and stared flabbergasted as he stepped in: "How did you get up here?"

This was the second floor; was it... so dangerous?

Fu Shihan did not answer but stretched out his hand to pull her into his embrace, looking down into her eyes.

Her eyes were still red, it seems her nose was also a bit red, and due to the dim light, he couldn’t see clearly.

But one thing he was certain of, she had indeed been crying just a moment ago.
