Shattered by Fate, Restored by Truth

Chapter 560: Ungrateful!

Chapter 560: Ungrateful!

Zhang Xinjie’s every conversation these past few days had been automatically recorded by the computer. Every phone call made, the audio was saved.

Just as Fu Shihan had thought before, uncovering the truth was a simpler matter for him than trying to please Su Wanxin. Now that Su Wanxin believed in him, naturally, he felt even less pressured.

Zhang Xinjie was relaxing at home, leisurely, and in a rather good mood. At half-past ten in the evening, as she was sitting in the living room watching a movie, she heard the sound of the door opening. Turning her head to look, she saw Zhang Yiyun returning with a stern face.

"Dad."

Zhang Xinjie called out to him. Zhang Yiyun responded with a noncommittal hum, entered the house, and walked past the sofa. Then, as if remembering something, he turned around and sat down beside Zhang Xinjie.

"Have you been in contact with Jun Yishu recently?"

Zhang Xinjie hesitated and shook her head, "No, I haven’t been in touch for over two months. What’s up?"

Zhang Yiyun’s brow was deeply furrowed.

After the new year, the investment made by Jun Yishu was due to mature.

In the past, he would alert Jun Yishu a few months in advance and discuss the renewal of their cooperation. Jun Yishu always agreed very readily and would arrange a time to meet with him.

But today, when he called Jun Yishu to talk about this, the response he got was very vague.

Jun Yishu said they’d talk another day when he had time, as he was busy recently.

This instantly gave Zhang Yiyun a bad feeling. Having been in the business world for a long time, he was all too clear on what perfunctory responses sounded like.

Jun Yishu was brushing him off today, which meant the upcoming cooperation... was very likely going to fall through.

The client Jun Yishu was initially brought in by Zhang Xinjie, which is why Zhang Yiyun asked her if she knew what had happened.

"Then I’ll give him a call tomorrow to feel things out." Zhang Xinjie frowned slightly, then relaxed. "You’re probably overthinking it. We’ve been in cooperation for so many years, why would he suddenly stop now? It makes no sense."

"That’s true, but something still doesn’t seem quite right."

"Ah, you’re just stressed out from being too busy recently. Go get some sleep, and tomorrow I’ll call him to press him on renewing the deal with you!"

Zhang Yiyun nodded thoughtfully and went upstairs. Around twelve o’clock, Zhang Xinjie also went back to her room to sleep. The next afternoon, she dialed Jun Yishu’s number.

Jun Yishu guessed what she wanted as soon as he saw the incoming call. Sure enough, after a few pleasantries, he heard Zhang Xinjie saying—

"Young Master Jun, when will you have time to come to Imperial Capital? It’s been a long time, and I’m starting to miss you."

Jun Yishu laughed and raised an eyebrow teasingly: "Do you miss me, or do you miss my money?"

"Of course, I miss you! I’m not short of money!" Zhang Xinjie cooed affectionately. "Are you coming over soon? That investment is maturing, isn’t it? When will you come to sign the contract? I’ll pick you up at the airport."

Jun Yishu chuckled softly and replied, "Let’s talk about it later. I’m not planning to think about that matter right now."

Zhang Xinjie furrowed her brows: "Then when do you plan on considering it?"

"After the new year."

"After the new year? Won’t the contract have expired by then?!"

Jun Yishu: "Xinjie, are you trying to pressure me?"

His tone was displeased, which made Zhang Xinjie also restrain herself a bit, her voice filled with feeling wronged: "I’m not, how would I dare to pressure you!"

"I’ll discuss business matters with your dad. Don’t meddle too much. Hanging up."

Jun Yishu ended the call without niceties, leaving Zhang Xinjie staring blankly for a moment before she couldn’t help but throw her phone, cursing: "What an asshole! If it weren’t for the sake of your damn money, would I even bother with you?! Ungrateful!"
