Chapter 536: Enduring the Cold Treatment

Yangyang gets up very early every morning, finishes breakfast with Su Wanxin, and then the driver takes him away. He practices piano in the morning, and golf and horseback riding in the afternoon. He is sent back before Su Wanxin gets off work in the evening.

Because of Su Wanxin’s broken promise last night, he is unhappy; when he sees Su Wanxin in the morning, he wears a straight face and neither speaks nor smiles.

Su Wanxin looks at him and frowns slightly, thinking of Fu Shihan.

After all, like father, like son. Not only do they look increasingly alike, but even their reactions when angry are similar.

Su Wanxin slowly sits up, stretches out her hand and pokes his cheek, asking, "I’m not working today, how about spending the whole day with you?"

At these words, Yangyang’s eyes immediately light up. But worried that she’s just trying to cheer him up, he hesitates and struggles before asking, "Really?"

"Really," Su Wanxin nods, "As compensation for missing our plan yesterday, okay?"

Yangyang: "...Okay."

Seems like he’s made a gain.

After breakfast, Su Wanxin calls Chen Lei and tells him she has matters to attend to and won’t go to the company. She asks him to help attend two events.

Chen Lei gets the schedule from the secretary, replaces her punctually at the events, and is quite happy to run into Fu Shihan there.

He’s happy, but Fu Shihan’s reaction upon seeing him is rather indifferent. Not just indifferent, but even a bit disdainful.

Fu Shihan looks at the man approaching him, a very obvious displeasure flashing in his eyes.

"Why are you here?"

Chen Lei: "..." Why can’t I be here?

Chen Lei: "Well, President Su had some matters and didn’t come to the company today, so she asked me to punch in for her."

"What’s the matter with her?"

Chen Lei: "Seems like she wanted to stay home with the child today, don’t you know?"

Fu Shihan certainly doesn’t know, because yesterday he hadn’t spoken a word to Su Wanxin all day. He even planned to show his displeasure by giving her the cold shoulder when they met today. He didn’t expect that she wouldn’t show up at all.

Thinking about his son’s treatment and his own cold reception, Fu Shihan’s face immediately darkens.

After hearing Chen Lei’s words, Chen Lei silently laments, "It’s over, I’ve stepped into the line of fire," and then subtly and carefully distances himself, not wanting to rub salt in the wound anymore.

Su Wanxin leaves the house with Yangyang after breakfast; they first go to watch an animated movie, then take a turn in the amusement park, eat lunch there, and go shopping in the afternoon.

The feeling of earning money is satisfying; the feeling of spending it is exhilarating.

Su Wanxin buys Yangyang a lot of clothes and shoes, thinking if only she had a daughter, they could buy more bags and jewelry, and later both could use them.

Unfortunately, she gave birth to a boy. Not until there’s a daughter-in-law in the future, she supposes.

Su Wanxin spends the whole day out entertaining her son, making Yangyang very happy. When they return home in the evening, she hears Su Yao say to her, "One piece of good news and one piece of bad news, which do you want to hear first?"

"The bad one."

"Mom is coming home for a while, you won’t see her until before New Year’s."

"And then?"

"And then! That day, that silly...," Su Yao was about to say ’idiot’ but catches sight of her little nephew nearby and hastily changes her words. "That silly, brainless woman, what was her name, Shen something?"

"Shen Xiaochen."

"That’s right, her!" Su Yao nods vigorously. "She’s being sued for divorce. Hahaha, her husband hired a lawyer from our law firm!"
