Chapter 494: Does President Su have no other impression of me besides that of a profiteer?
Chapter 494: Does President Su have no other impression of me besides that of a profiteer?
There’s a saying that goes, if a fellow Daoist dies, a poor Daoist shouldn’t either. If I’m going down, I might as well drag a fellow Daoist with me; otherwise, what’s the fun in that?
Fu Shihan is in a great mood upon hearing the silence from Lu Ci on the other end of the phone.
With his naturally strong mental fortitude, and having already secured Su Wanxin last night, he now enjoys the status of the claimed prize. So, in a way, he’s feeling very stable—stable as an old dog.
"Want to invite me for a drink? Sure," Fu Shihan nods in agreement. "I’ll get in touch with you once I’m done with my current tasks."
"You better not." Finally, Lu Ci speaks up. "Let’s not play brothers anymore, at least for the time being."
"Heh," Fu Shihan snorts with a laugh. "Who’s playing brothers with you? Let me correct that, you’re just a scapegoat."
Hearing this, Lu Ci feels utterly hopeless.
Fu Shihan had mentioned before that he would give him a big gift, and now he’s playing this game; it’s hard for Lu Ci to figure out what he’s up to.
And since he knows Fu Shihan too well, aware that when the man intends to be harmful, he really means it, Lu Ci can’t help but panic.
Fu Shihan hangs up on Lu Ci and his smile gradually fades. Lin Rui, who’s driving, takes a glance at him and starts quivering, thinking he should be more cautious from now on.
When the car arrives at the hotel, there’s still ten minutes left before the agreed time with Su Bai.
But when Fu Shihan enters the private room, Su Bai is already there.
Seeing Fu Shihan, Su Bai tugs at the corner of his mouth with a smile that isn’t quite a smile: "Since when does President Fu make a habit of letting people wait when inviting them out to eat?"
This blunt challenge makes Fu Shihan smile with raised eyebrows. "Does President Su usually arrive early when dining with others?"
He glances at his wristwatch. "Arriving ten minutes early is already the highest honor in my book. If you don’t think that’s high enough, I’ll add another five minutes next time."
Upon hearing this, Su Bai snickers.
So he’s worth, at most, fifteen minutes to Fu Shihan?
Fu Shihan takes off his coat unhurriedly and sits down, rolling up his sleeves.
His white shirt sleeves are pushed up to his forearms, and the tie he had worn all day has already been tossed in the car.
He grabs the menu, calls in the waiting server, and after ordering, finally turns his attention back to Su Bai to talk business.
"I’ve already reviewed the new sample from the R&D department yesterday. The SKU frequency bands generally meet the standards; it may take about a month for further adjustments, supporting W-CAT1&4-2G. Have you settled things on the project platform on your side?"
"Almost there," Su Bai nods, reflecting on the fact that Fu Shihan studied finance in college, but now rattles off radio frequency jargon without a hitch, feeling puzzled. "For every project in your company, do you personally follow up and learn the relevant knowledge?"
"Not that free; it depends on the project size and the partner involved." Fu Shihan answers frankly.
"Tailoring your approach to the person involved?"
"Isn’t that standard practice?" Fu Shihan retorts.
Talking to people in a way they understand, that’s something everybody starts learning as soon as one begins walking and talking, right?
Back when he was working with KL and Su Wanxin was not involved, Fu Shihan didn’t take it to heart.
Now with that connection established, even if he needed to go back to school for an IT degree, wouldn’t he have to nod and agree?
Fu Shihan leans back in his chair, locking eyes with Su Bai. After some thought, he asks with a touch of concern, "Aside from being a swindler, do you not have any other impression of me, President Su?"
Hearing this, Su Bai laughs: "What kind of impression would you hope I have?"
