Chapter 481 Qi Ran Arrives
Chapter 481 Qi Ran Arrives
Zhang Xinjie took steps toward Fu Shihan, but Fu Shihan’s gaze remained fixed on Su Wanxin, following her without looking away.
"Fu..."
"Excuse me, don’t block the way."
He passed by Zhang Xinjie and quickly caught up with the fleeing figure, intercepting her.
"President Su, not even a greeting when you see me, are we that unfamiliar?"
Su Wanxin looked up at him with furrowed brows and asked softly, "What do you want to do?"
"With so many people around, what could I do?" Fu Shihan mocked himself. "Just a little chat, no need for such hostility, right?"
"...What’s there to talk about."
Su Wanxin muttered softly, lowering her head to pat Yangyang’s head.
Yangyang was looking up at the two of them, met Su Wanxin’s eyes, and smiled while hugging her arm and calling her "mommy."
Fu Shihan glanced back toward the entrance; Qi Ran had yet to appear, and it was unclear when he would arrive.
Lu Ci and those other unashamedly nosy friends of his had all arrived by now, always keeping a distance that was neither too far nor too close, waiting to see him embarrass himself.
Fu Shihan felt he needed to coddle this little ancestor first. He didn’t really expect her to help him when it mattered; as long as she didn’t kick him while he was down, he would be eternally grateful.
"Could you give me a little face later?" Fu Shihan whispered to her, proposing a deal.
"Give face for what?" Su Wanxin was a bit confused by what he said.
"If I end up ’dead’ at Aunt Qi’s hands today, remember to collect my corpse."
Su Wanxin: "..."
Su Wanxin: "If you don’t provoke her, she won’t do anything to you."
"Do you think I would miss such a good chance to provoke?" Fu Shihan asked righteously. "I have to increase my favorability somehow, right?"
"Why are you trying to get on her good side..."
"Don’t play dumb, you know why." Fu Shihan turned back to look at the entrance again. There were quite a few people around looking at him, so the opportunity to talk to Su Wanxin alone was rare.
Fu Shihan had never thought that dating would be so difficult; pursuing a girlfriend also meant having to please her family first. He glanced sideways at his foolish son, somewhat worried if the kid would ever be able to get married.
After talking to Su Wanxin, Fu Shihan turned and left, afraid that Qi Ran would arrive and catch him, thinking he was harassing her daughter.
And shortly after he left, Qi Ran finally made her appearance, entering through the door.
She had just finished a video conference before rushing over. Before coming to Hua Country, she had taken on a case and had been communicating with her team via video, planning to rush back after handling affairs here.
Her mood had been complex over the few days since she returned to Hua Country.
She had left because of losing her daughter, and now she was back because of her daughter.
High society was much dirtier in its networking than ordinary folks. Qi Ran knew all too well how loathsome these status-seeking opportunists could be, which is why she was more eager to come and support Su Wanxin.
After arriving, she mingled for a bit. People kept coming up to greet her, making it impossible for her to find time to meet Su Wanxin and Su Yao right away.
Fortunately, it wasn’t long before Su Yao brought Su Wanxin over.
"Mom, Su Bai said he will arrive at noon tomorrow, his flight is at eleven."
Su Yao had previously asked Su Bai to come and help with Fu Shihan, but he couldn’t get away and after so many days had finally found the time, which made Su Yao somewhat disdainful.
She called out "mom" as soon as she approached, causing the people nearby to be taken aback, not immediately realizing who she was calling.
It wasn’t until Qi Ran nodded and continued, "I’m busy tomorrow at noon, let’s have dinner together in the evening."
