Chapter 381: The Gift
Chapter 381: The Gift
Because of Su Wanxin’s displeasure, no one dared to bring the matter up to her face, but they were still discussing it privately.
And Fu Shihan, as the other protagonist of the scandal, went from initial happiness to final anger.
The reason was nothing else but his inability to arrange a meeting with Su Wanxin.
Wan God said she was afraid of being misunderstood as chasing him, so she suggested they stop meeting and just send WeChat messages instead.
From being an official husband to just a netizen, it was only a Weibo hot search away. Fu Shihan was angry and immediately arranged for his subordinates to handle the matter.
In fact, Su Wanxin’s decision not to meet with Fu Shihan wasn’t solely because of that. It was also because she had received another call from Grandpa.
Fu Yansheng was so enraged by Fu Shihan that he returned to Nan City, but he still kept an eye on Su Wanxin’s movements.
The content of the call was simple; he asked when Su Wanxin planned to leave.
Grandpa wanted her to leave, Fu Shihan didn’t. Su Wanxin was caught in the middle, struggling and suffering internally. She vented her bad mood on her work.
At ten-thirty in the evening, Su Wanxin sat in the study, searching for information and analyzing data.
Suddenly her mobile phone rang. She glanced at it from the corner of her eye; it was Fu Shihan.
She frowned slightly and answered, wondering what he could want this late at night. Once the call connected, she heard his deep voice say, "Open the door."
Su Wanxin was stunned for a few seconds before quickly regaining her composure. She got up in a hurry and walked outside, opened the front door, and saw the man standing outside with his hair still wet.
Fu Shihan hung up the phone, stepped into the house, quickly glanced around the interior, then "tsked" in disapproval of what he saw.
Su Wanxin looked at him somewhat confusedly, "What are you doing here?"
"Other than you, is there any other reason worth my visit to this dump?"
Fu Shihan entered the house unreservedly, without any awareness of being a guest.
Su Wanxin followed him inside and, upon hearing him asking which room was her bedroom, pointed it out to him; then Fu Shihan pushed the door and entered.
Inside the room was quiet, with the two of them standing and sitting, looking at each other.
Seeing him sitting on the bed, taking off his coat as if he didn’t plan to leave, Su Wanxin couldn’t help but remind him, "Who was it that said before that this house belonged to someone else and wouldn’t enter?"
"There are always exceptions," Fu Shihan asserted, unabashedly backtracking on his word.
"What’s the matter so late?" Su Wanxin noticed his damp hair. Did he come right after showering?
"Nothing much, I couldn’t sleep, so I came to see you."
Fu Shihan lay on his side on the bed and patted the space beside him. "Come here, let’s talk for a bit."
Su Wanxin felt that he was here for more than just a chat. She turned around, went into the bathroom, took out the hair dryer, and started to dry his hair.
His fine black hair hung in front of his eyes. Fu Shihan lowered his eyelids; he claimed he came for a chat, but now he was silent. Not until Su Wanxin put the hair dryer away and returned to his side.
Su Wanxin’s gaze fixated on the object he took out of his coat pocket, her eyes flickering.
She watched intently as he opened the black velvet box and looked up at her, asking, "Do you like it?"
Over the years she had been with Fu Shihan, he had given her many gifts.
Clothes, bags, jewelry of all brands and styles, but he had never given her a ring.
Today was the first time.
Su Wanxin’s gaze lingered on the ring for a while before shifting back to him. She answered, "I like it."
She truly liked it; she had wanted this thing for a long time.
