Chapter 1168: The World Is Not Worth It
Chapter 1168: The World Is Not Worth It
The news of Fu Su appearing together spread quickly, and although Su Wanxin wasn’t paying attention to it, there were plenty of people who were.
Late at night, Cheng Yao lay on the sofa, eyes dark as she stared at her phone screen, without a trace of sleepiness.
The woman on the screen had a bright, striking appearance, looking rather unapproachable. Yet, she was holding someone else’s hand, following closely. Their steps were unusually synchronized, as if they were quite accustomed to each other’s presence.
The two most talked-about people in the financial circles had come together just like that. How much of a storm they would stir in the future was unknown, and Cheng Yao wasn’t interested in finding out.
She only wanted to know how she could make them understand the pain of loss, what it means to live a life worse than death.
To be stepped on, face pressed into the ground, struggling desperately but unable to get up— she really wanted them to taste that too.
But...
What exactly should she do?
Her eyes gradually reddened staring at the phone screen, and in the moment she leaned back and closed her eyes, a tear fell.
The large living room was eerily quiet, and after a moment, Cheng Yao opened her eyes again, got up, and went to the bathroom to find something that could make her forget the pain and feel happiness.
All her senses gradually dominated by substances, she laughed crazily, screamed loudly, until she was exhausted, collapsed on the floor, and fell asleep just like that on the cold ground.
When she woke up again, it was already the evening of the next day.
Opening her eyes numbly, she stared at the ceiling for a while before slowly getting up, taking a shower, and returning to her bedroom upstairs.
In the lavishly decorated yet somewhat gaudy bedroom, the lights were always bright even in the daylight.
On the bedside cabinet was a photo of two people. The two girls in the picture leaned close together, their smiles bright and beautiful.
Cheng Yao picked up the photo, holding it to her chest. After a long while, she murmured softly, "Cheng Cheng, I miss you."
I miss the warmth and scent of your body.
I miss you firmly describing our future.
You once said, if it weren’t for Su Wanxin, you wouldn’t have ended up like this.
You also said, fate is decided by the heavens, you don’t have Su Wanxin’s good fortune, so you can’t blame others.
But, in this world full of people, why did it have to be us?
Why did we have to be the ones toyed with, abandoned, and trampled upon?
"You always said the world isn’t worth it, yet you always seized every opportunity to live. You said I was the only warmth you felt in this world, but you left so early."
Leaving me alone in this filthy world, living a filthy life.
Cheng Yao’s face was pale, her eyes hollow as she gazed out the window. She only drew her gaze back when darkness fell outside, and she covered herself with a blanket and slept through till dawn.

Su Wanxin finally realized what was wrong after feeling something was off for two days, but unable to pinpoint it, only when Su Yao came downstairs with her suitcase did it become clear.
She hadn’t seen Su Yao for two days.
"Where are you going?" Su Wanxin asked in surprise, successfully earning a roll of the eyes from Su Yao.
"Going home!" Su Yao replied bluntly, dragging her suitcase in front of her, gritting her teeth: "Your household head said the danger is past, ordered me to go back where I came from!"
Su Wanxin was stunned for a few seconds, understanding what she meant.
"Did Shihan tell you to leave?"
"Humph."
Besides that dog Fu Shihan, who else would have such nerve?
