Chapter 503. Evaluation II
Seven Sins System Chapter 503. Evaluation II
“John, get back into formation!” Aria ordered, her voice sharp with frustration.
John grunted, getting to his feet, but his movements were sluggish. The hesitation from earlier had shaken him, and now he was second-guessing his every move.
The wolves circled, their glowing eyes fixated on their prey.
“Rachel, more fire! Tobias, keep close!” Aria called out, trying to regain control.
Rachel complied, sending another wave of fire toward the wolves, but they were faster now, dodging her attacks with ease. One of the wolves lunged at her, and she barely managed to throw up a shield of flames in time to block it.
Tobias, meanwhile, was frantically casting healing spells, his face pale with concentration. He was doing his best, but the strain was starting to show. He was spreading himself too thin, trying to keep up with both John and Rachel, and it was clear he couldn’t maintain it for long.
I glanced at Katrina, who was watching closely, her expression unreadable. Penelope, however, looked like she was thoroughly enjoying the chaos unfolding.
Aria, to her credit, was holding her ground. She moved like a pro, cutting down wolves left and right, but the cracks in her team were becoming more apparent by the second. She barked orders, but the cohesion they had at the start was gone.
“John, focus! Rachel, cover his flank!” Aria shouted, her voice laced with frustration.
But it was no use. John was too shaken, Rachel was struggling to keep up, and Tobias was overwhelmed. Well, Rachel was my harem member. This should be easy for her. Yet… she had told me whenever she was around Aria, she was nervous. She knew Aria was a goddess and she could feel her power. That was the real problem here.
Suddenly, one of the wolves broke through their defenses, charging straight at Tobias. He tried to react, but he was too slow. The wolf tackled him to the ground, and for a split second, it looked like the test was about to end in disaster. And I, the doctor, would be the one who needed to heal him.
But then, something shifted.
Aria moved with blinding speed, her sword flashing as she cut down the wolf in one swift motion. She pulled Tobias to his feet, her expression fierce.
‘Ah… she uses her angelic power,’ I thought.
“Get it together!” she barked, her voice commanding. “We’re not done yet!”
For a moment, the team seemed to snap out of their daze. John gritted his teeth, his grip tightening on his sword. Rachel’s flames burned brighter, more focused. Tobias, though pale and sweating, nodded and steadied his hands on his staff.
Aria took a deep breath, her eyes scanning the battlefield. “We can still win this. Focus on your roles. John, keep the pressure on. Rachel, support him. Tobias, stay with me.”
And just like that, they were back in the fight.
The wolves lunged again, but this time, the team was ready. John swung his sword with renewed vigor, cutting down the creatures with brutal efficiency. Rachel’s flames danced around him, providing cover and striking down any that got too close. Tobias kept his distance, his healing spells flowing steadily, keeping the team in fighting shape.
Aria was in the thick of it, directing the battle with precision. She moved like a whirlwind, her sword a blur as she cut through the remaining wolves. There was no hesitation in her movements now, only determination.
Finally, the last wolf fell, its holographic body disintegrating into nothingness.
The arena fell silent, the test over.
I glanced at Katrina, who was nodding slightly, her expression thoughtful. Penelope looked mildly disappointed that things hadn’t completely fallen apart, but there was a hint of approval in her eyes. The other mentors scribbled down their final notes, whispering among themselves.
Aria stood in the center of the arena, breathing heavily, her sword still raised. Her team gathered around her, exhausted but victorious.
Katrina stood up from her seat and gave a brief nod. “You’ve passed this round,” she said, her voice calm but authoritative. “But the real test is how you lead in more complex situations. The next part will focus less on brute force and more on strategy. We need to know you can keep your team together under pressure.”
Aria wiped a bead of sweat from her brow, lowering her sword. “Understood,” she said, glancing at her team. John, Rachel, and Tobias were clearly worn out from the fight, but they nodded at her in solidarity.
Penelope, lounging casually in her seat, flashed a grin. “You might have impressed a few people here, but don’t get too comfortable, Aria. The next phase isn’t just about fighting. You’ll need to think on your feet. Let’s see if you can manage that.”
I stayed quiet for a moment, watching Aria’s reaction. Her eyes flicked over to me, searching for any sign of what might come next. I gave her nothing but a raised eyebrow and a smirk. She didn’t know that I was part of this test from the beginning, and I planned on keeping her in the dark a little longer. It was more fun that way, anyway.
“We’ll give you ten minutes to recover,” Katrina said. “The second round is a mixture of combat and puzzle-solving. Think of it as a strategic challenge. Use your time wisely.”
Aria nodded, grateful for the brief respite. She turned to her team, gathering them in a loose circle. “Alright, guys, let’s use this time to regroup,” she said, her voice taking on a softer tone now that the initial adrenaline had worn off.
John stretched his arms, rolling his neck with a grunt. “That was rough,” he muttered, wiping sweat from his forehead. “I hesitated, and that wolf nearly took me out.”
Aria placed a hand on his shoulder, her expression firm but not unkind. “We all make mistakes. You pulled through when it counted, and that’s what matters.”
Rachel, still breathing heavily but with a fiery glint in her eyes, spoke up. “I could’ve done better. My flames weren’t landing like they should have.”
“Focus less on perfecting your magic and more on reading the battlefield,” Aria advised. “Your spells are strong, but you need to anticipate their movements.”
