Chapter 579: Just Reading A Book (Part 1)
The moment they got back to the cabin, Psycho hit the couch like he’d been shot.
Full sprawl, his boots kicked off mid-air, and one arm flung over his eyes as if the effort of standing upright any longer might actually kill him.
"That was a wonderfully successful raid," he announced to the ceiling. "Ten out of ten. Would pillage again. I mean, we are clearly growing on the cavemen, not one of them tried to stab us! That is both success and an utter failure."
His face dropped for a moment as he realized what he had just said. "Why didn’t they try to stab us? Am I not stab worthy? That way I could have stabbed back without Zaddy getting made at me."
"Your Zaddy is not longer here," replied Ashkar, his face neutral as he stared down at the other man. "And personally speaking, go ahead and stab whoever you want."
Psycho sat upright, an eerie smile on his face as he cocked his head to the side. "No take backs," he purred.
Sera snorted and stepped around him, her bare feet silent on the floor as she crossed the living room. She didn’t bother asking if he was exaggerating. Psycho always exaggerated. It was part of his charm. Part of his warning label.
Caerwyn set a crate down near the wall with more care than strictly necessary. "You’re lying."
Psycho lifted his arm just enough to point and glare at him. "I am not. I will be more than happy to stab anyone but my Precious Princess. Consider this your one and only warning. After all, Zaddy said I could do whatever I wanted..."
Aerenyx ignored both of them, already sorting through what they’d brought back from the Ruined City as Sera started to pull them out of her space. Books went into one pile. Candles into another. Anything fragile got set aside automatically for her to place them wherever she wanted later.
Sera paused near the couch and reached down, picking up one of the books. The pages were warped from humidity, the spine cracked, but it was intact. Good enough to read at least.
She flipped it open and settled onto the opposite end of the couch, stretching out with deliberate comfort.
Psycho peeked at her through his fingers. "You’re doing that thing again."
She didn’t look up. "Reading?"
"No. Nesting."
Her mouth curved, slow and unapologetic. "You say that like it’s a problem."
"Not a problem," he said, rolling onto his side to face her. "Just... educational."
Ashkar added another piece of wood to the fire and straightened, turning only after the flame settled. He watched Sera now, attention steady, unhurried, like he had all the time in the world to take her in.
She felt it immediately.
She always did.
Caerwyn leaned back against the wall, arms crossed loosely. "She’s comfortable," he observed.
"That’s new," Psycho said.
"It is not," Ashkar replied evenly. "It is simply uninterrupted."
Sera glanced up at that, eyes bright with amusement. "You make it sound like a service you provide."
Ashkar stepped closer, stopping just short of the couch. "It is."
Something shifted then as the five of them settled into a rhythm that didn’t need explaining.
Sera closed her book halfway, her attention finally pulled fully into the present. "So," she said lightly. "Are you all going to stand there watching me read, or did someone have a plan?"
Psycho’s grin sharpened. "Funny you should ask."
Ashkar reached down and took the book from her hands without asking, flipping it open as he scanned a page. His brows lifted a fraction. He closed it again and set it aside.
"I have a plan," he announced, a very non-Ashkar smile on his face.
Sera leaned back against the cushions, one eyebrow lifting. "Do you now."
"Oh yes," he replied, calm and certain. "And you are going to do everything that I say." He turned his attention to the other men in the room, and even Aerenyx straightened up and paid attention. "How about we play a game? The first one to flinch looses."
"I am always up for a game," purred Psycho, shifting forward, his elbows on his knees as he hyper fixated on Ashkar. "Especially ones that involve flinching."
When the other two men grunted their agreement, Ashkar smirked. "Sera," he said, his voice deep and rough, come here, Princess."
Cocking her head to the side, Sera got off the couch and walked over to where Ashkar was standing.
"Now, don’t move," he continued, opening the book to the spot she had been reading. Starting mid-sentence, he read: "’But having Alex on his knees between her legs—’" only for Psycho to drop to his knees between Sera’s legs.
"I get to be Alex!" he announced, his voice a cross between excitement and lust as he balanced himself against her thighs.
Ashkar nodded his head and continued. "’Alex’s eye never left hers as he pressed his lips to the bares skin of her inner thigh.’ Oh, we have an issue. We need Sera to be naked and she is not."
With a snap of Aerenyx’s fingers, the heavy Victorian dress that Sera had been wearing dissolved into nothing, leaving her completely bare except for her brown knee-high boots. "What can I say?" he murmured, his voice almost clinical as he looked her up and down. "It’s a good look on her."
"That it is," agreed Ashkar as Psycho started kissing the bare skin of Sera’s inner thigh. She couldn’t stop the moan that came out as she felt herself get even more wet. Between Ashkar’s words and Psycho acting it out... she was getting even more turned on.
"’She squeaked in surprise as Alex surged forward and pressed his lips to her,’" continued Ashkar, raising an eyebrow at Psycho. As if on cue, Psycho rose to his feet and gave Sera a soul devouring kiss, like to do anything else would have been sacrilege...
Or Ashkar would accuse him of flinching.
"Moving behind her, Nathan’s hands move up her legs, over her waist, and up to her breasts before cupping them in his hands.... do we have any takers for Nathan?"
Before Ashkar could even finish make the suggestion, Caerwyn was already behind Sera, his massive hands starting at her thighs and moving upward just as the book said.
"So fucking eager," purred Ashkar, a sinister smile on his face as Sera moaned at the dual onslaught of Psycho at her front and Caerwyn at her back.
When she looked over at him, her eyes wide and glossy, he pointed to the book. "I’m just reading what is written... is that a problem?"
