Chapter 538: Chapter 538: On the Degree of Shamelessness

Summer Sutton didn’t know if she heard or not, but she had already gone downstairs.

She had been restricted by Adrian Walyon for a whole day yesterday. Afraid she’d leave as soon as she got her freedom today, Adrian followed her downstairs.

To his surprise, when they reached the first floor, he found Summer Sutton in the kitchen preparing breakfast.

Adrian Walyon had invited River City’s chefs yesterday, but he didn’t let them stay at the house.

Whether it’s Morning Garden or Sutton Gardens, as long as it’s their home, he never allowed any servants to live there.

The reason is simple: he didn’t want to disturb their little world.

After all, calling on the phone isn’t troublesome; if needed, they can always be summoned.

Summer Sutton was simmering porridge, millet porridge, mixed with red dates and goji berries found in the kitchen.

A nourishing, health-supporting porridge.

She was so focused and busy that she didn’t even notice Adrian Walyon behind her.

This side of her made Adrian Walyon breathe a sigh of relief.

Standing at the door, Adrian quietly watched her.

Summer Sutton was still wearing home clothes, casually topped with a jacket.

Suddenly Adrian found his earlier tension somewhat amusing.

How could someone like her possibly leave?

Fully reassured, Adrian slowly walked over to her.

After Summer Sutton turned on the heat and let the porridge cook, she didn’t bother with it.

At this moment, she was frying a kind of pancake, one she had introduced Adrian Walyon to earlier in River City.

"Are you going to let me taste something from your hometown?" Adrian Walyon embraced her from behind, speaking cheekily.

Summer Sutton was not doing it for him.

It was simply because she wanted to eat them herself.

"Mr. Walyon, could you please leave? You’re getting in my way!" Summer Sutton nudged him aside and continued her work.

"I can help you taste if the flavor is good." Adrian stood by, explaining the significance of his presence in the kitchen.

"No need." Summer Sutton didn’t even turn her head.

"I can stay here with you, so you won’t feel bored with someone to chat with." Adrian continued.

"No need." Summer Sutton still didn’t look at him.

Adrian Walyon touched his nose, shrugged helplessly, and walked out.

The kitchen was filled with a delightful aroma.

Adrian Walyon, unable to resist being tempted by the smell, went back in after only five minutes outside.

Summer Sutton was busy with breakfast, placing freshly fried pancakes to the side.

Small, individual, with crispy golden brown crusts.

Once inside, Adrian Walyon grabbed chopsticks and tried one, found it quite good, and took another.

After Summer Sutton finished cooking the porridge and turned around, the small snacks she prepared had disappeared.

Adrian Walyon had polished them off cleanly.

Summer Sutton hadn’t intentionally cooked them for him, yet he presumed so.

Summer Sutton stared at the empty plate for a long while, her expression seemed slightly stiff.

"Tastes good!" Adrian Walyon praised her.

Summer Sutton glared at him, couldn’t help but continue cooking.

The breakfast was finally accompanied by steaming hot porridge, taking quite some time.

By the time they finished eating, it was past nine.

Summer Sutton hadn’t returned to Morning Garden for a long time, so she took a stroll in the garden after breakfast.

In the garden, post-winter, lacking the vitality of spring and summer, the peach orchard trees had virtually shed all their leaves.

Yet, it was still possible to imagine the vibrant spring scene when flowers are in full bloom.

The entire garden remained unchanged from when Summer Sutton was around; every grass and tree were things she and he planted together back then, through every season without any alteration except for changes brought by seasonal transitions.

After entering the garden, Summer Sutton tidied up the tangled branches.
