Second Choice Noble Son: Apparently I’m Stronger Than the Summoned Heroes

Chapter 45 : The Fairy’s Gift

Chapter 45 : The Fairy’s Gift

The night was quiet, the kind of silence that made even the wind hold its breath. I rolled over in my small bed, clutching my blanket, when a strange glow flickered against my eyelids.

My eyes snapped open.

Floating just above me was a tiny figure, no bigger than my hand. Wings shimmered like glass, scattering sparks of green light across the room.

I blinked, rubbing my eyes. “…A bug?”

The figure’s voice rang, soft and bell-like. “Rude. I am no bug.”

I sat up, jaw dropping. “Y-you talk?!”

The little being folded her arms, looking down at me with all the dignity her palm-sized body could muster. “Of course. I am kin to the Lady of the Land. Or rather… what’s left of her.”

My HUD flickered faintly, but instead of text, only a strange message appeared:

[Divine Presence Detected – Connection: Goddess of the Tree (Fragment)]

The fairy’s glow dimmed, sorrow crossing her tiny face.

“Once, this border was a forest blessed by the goddess herself. Trees taller than castles, rivers that sang, soil that never died. But corruption spread. The goddess withered. Only scraps of us remain.”

I tilted my head, still half-asleep. “…Then why are you here?”

Her eyes softened as she floated closer.

“Because you… are strange. Even in dead soil, you’ve made life grow again. It’s like hearing the goddess’s laughter after centuries of silence.”

She lifted her hands, and with a pulse of green light, something appeared.

A seed.

Not small and delicate like the ones Father planted, but massive—half the size of my face, heavy with power. Its surface glowed faintly, veins of emerald light running across it like veins of mana itself.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

I gawked. “That’s… huge.”

The fairy grinned faintly. “It is no ordinary seed. Plant it, and it will grow into a tree. Not just any tree—a home, a shield, a companion. It will rise with you and your family. Protect you, as you protect it.”

She floated closer, placing the warm, glowing seed into my tiny hands.

I held it tight against my chest, feeling its heartbeat pulse with mine.

“Why me?” I whispered.

Her voice was gentle, almost sad. “…Because miracles attract miracles.”

And just like that, her light faded, and she was gone.

I sat there in the dark, clutching the seed half the size of my face. My HUD blinked faintly:

[Special Item Acquired: Seed of the Goddess]

[Condition: Growth dependent on Rooga’s mana and intent]

I smiled drowsily, curling around it. “Guess… we’ll grow together, huh?”

And I drifted back to sleep, the seed glowing softly beside me.

Morning came, and the house bustled with its usual rhythm—Father already outside with his hoe,

Mother preparing breakfast, Lyra quietly sweeping the hall.

I waddled into the kitchen, clutching something heavy in both arms. The massive seed, glowing faintly green, almost bigger than my head.

“Mama! Papa!” I shouted. “Look what I found!”

Selene turned, a ladle in her hand. Darius leaned in through the doorway, sweat still dripping from his brow.

Both of them froze.

The seed pulsed softly, veins of emerald light crawling across its surface.

Selene’s lips parted. “…Rooga. Where did you—?”

“In the house!” I said proudly, hugging it against my chest. “It was glowing, so I picked it up. It’s mine now. My seed!”

Darius’s brows furrowed deeply. He stepped forward, his calloused hand brushing over the surface.

The glow reacted to his touch, pulsing once, then dimming, as if refusing him.

“This… isn’t natural,” he muttered.

Selene crouched down to my height, her violet eyes sharp but trembling. “Rooga… did anyone give this to you? Did you see anything?”

I tilted my head, thinking. The fairy’s bell-like voice echoed faintly in my mind, but I puffed my cheeks and shook my head. “Nope. Just woke up and it was there.”

She studied me for a long time, then sighed, smoothing my hair back. “…You’re too honest to lie.”

“Of course I’m honest!” I said proudly. “And it’s mine. My seed!”

The HUD flickered faintly:

[Bond Strengthened: Seed of the Goddess – Recognition Accepted]

[Condition: Awaiting Planting Site]

Selene’s gaze lingered on the glow, her magician’s instincts screaming at her. “…This isn’t just a seed. It’s saturated with mana… no, with divinity.”

Darius folded his arms, voice gruff. “Whatever it is, the boy’s chosen. The land itself must have given it to him.”

Selene’s lips pressed thin, torn between awe and fear. “…Miracle child…” she whispered again.

But I wasn’t listening. I was already waddling toward the back door, holding the seed aloft.

“Come on, Mama! Let’s plant it! This is gonna be our tree!”
