Second Choice Noble Son: Apparently I’m Stronger Than the Summoned Heroes

Chapter 2 : The Language of the World

Chapter 2 : The Language of the World

At first, the world was noise.

Mother’s lullabies, Father’s orders, Elara’s chatter—all of it washed over me like a tide of nonsense. Warm nonsense, but still nonsense.

I could catch patterns—my name, repeated phrases—but full meaning? Forget it.

Until one morning, when Selene leaned over my crib, whispering softly. Her silver hair brushed my cheek as she spoke words I couldn’t understand. But the moment they left her lips—

The HUD flickered.

[Skill Available: Language Comprehension.]

[Requirement: Exposure to spoken words 1,000+ times.]

I blinked. (Well, as much as a baby can blink meaningfully.)

So that’s what was happening. My little baby brain wasn’t magically smart—it was logging words like a recorder, and the HUD was processing them.

I thought, Alright. Let’s learn it.

The HUD responded instantly:

[Do you wish to acquire: Language Comprehension (Beginner)?]

[Y/N]

Obviously: Yes.

A sharp chill swept through my head, then a warmth, like someone pouring sunlight directly into my skull. The sounds around me shifted.

Selene’s words—once garbled—suddenly had shape.

“…sweet boy,” she was saying, smiling down at me. “One day you’ll understand me, won’t you?”

My breath caught. I just did.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

She kissed my forehead, humming, oblivious to the revolution in my head.

I almost laughed, but what came out was a gurgle. Still, inside, I was buzzing.

[Skill Acquired: Language Comprehension (Beginner).]

[Condition to evolve: Hold conversations with 100 different people.]

Conversations. Meaningful ones. With strangers.

I groaned internally. (Translation: Ugh, socializing.)

But for now, it was enough. The world wasn’t noise anymore. The world had words.

They named me Rooga Valemont.

A little odd compared to Earth names, but it rolled off the tongue well enough. My sister shouted it daily, my father barked it like an order, and my mother whispered it like a prayer.

But one afternoon, I learned something no one else could see.

A screen flickered into existence in front of me. Not a phone, not a computer monitor—just floating text.

[Flicker Light – use 100 times continuously to evolve into Violent Spark]

My jaw dropped—or it would have, if I’d had the motor control.

Magic wasn’t just fire-from-fingers or sparks-from-hands. It was a system. A game system.

So I waved my tiny arms, trying to do what I saw Selene do: snap my fingers, focus, will light to appear.

Nothing happened. The HUD blinked again.

[You don’t meet the requirement to learn this skill.]

[Requirement: Beginner Mana Manipulation.]

I groaned inside my head. “Fine. Then can I learn mana manipulation?”

The HUD answered instantly:

[No nearby information to extract.]

That was when I understood. This wasn’t a cheat code where I could just ask and receive. I needed to see it first. Someone had to demonstrate the skill before the HUD could tell me how to evolve it.

In other words: observation + conditions = growth.

So there I was, flailing my baby arms like an idiot, making noises that sounded like “bwaaaah—gaaaah!” trying to force my body to understand mana circulation.

From the outside, I must’ve looked ridiculous.

Because when I glanced up, Selene was watching me with the softest smile.

Her hands covered her mouth as her shoulders trembled—half laughter, half awe. To her, I was just her baby babbling nonsense, waving at invisible fairies.

To me? I was confirming a theory that could change the entire world.

I sighed, or as close to a sigh as a baby could manage. “Great. Guess I’ll have to wait until I see mana manipulation for real.”

“Bwaah~!” my baby voice squeaked instead.

Selene’s heart melted instantly. She scooped me up, nuzzling my forehead. “My clever little Rooga,” she whispered.

…If only she knew.
