Chapter 630: Andria’s disapproval

Chapter 630: Andria’s disapproval

[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): His NDS ended.]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): Talk about bad fucking timing.]

[HackerSu (Trillion): Fuck! It would have been so much easier for him to intercept the solar bomb if he still had that level of speed.]

[OfficialKasumi (Aqua Primus): If only it had lasted a few more seconds.]

[Celebrityhunter69 (Earth): Do you think there is anything the streamer can do to stop the bomb?]

[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): Doubt it, I mean, he sent his ship away to protect his girlfriends.]

[NonpareilRaphilia (Aaru): I hate to say it, but I think that idiot is right. I’m afraid the Terrans are about to lose another member of the imperial family.]

[OfficialMuriel (Aqua Primus): What would that do for the Terran Solarian relations?]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): It could put a pin in the entire thing, but seeing as how it was the Solarian Princess who reached out, it might survive.]

As the chat discussed, they saw cracks in subspace form in front of each of the enemy ships before they suddenly disappeared.

[Whitehorn (Darah 5):They entered subspace.]

[Lizziethetruepower (Palaxia): The fucking cowards launched a bomb and ran.]

[Superherofangirl (Earth): How long before the bomb reaches the sun and it goes supernova?]

[NonpareilRaphilia (Aaru): Difficult to say, but no more than a few minutes.]

[LadyErkath (Alastor): I wonder how Adam plans to get out of this one.]

[Whitehorn (Darah 5):I’m not so sure he can, I mean, he sent his ship and girlfriends away, which indicates he’s worried he won't be able to stop the bomb.

“Will we catch up in time?” Adam asked as he had Spector Unit 6 follow after the solar bomb.

“Negative. The rate at which we are gaining on the target is too slow to cover the distance needed before the target enters the sun.

“Fuck,” Adam cursed before adding, “I need suggestions, Spector.”

“I have none to give you; there is simply no way for you to stop the destruction of the Kemel Galaxy’s sun,” Spector replied.

[OracleRomy (Elysium): Oh, progenitor. The poor Gargolian race. 😥]

[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): Surely they won’t all die?]

[NonpareilRaphilia (Aaru): No, but as we have mentioned before, members of the Gargolian race don’t travel much because of how they are made from stone, or whatever the most abundant mineral is that was around them when they were born. Because of this, most of their race still resides within their home galaxy.]

“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” Adam cursed as he looked around the holographic layout of Spector Unit 6’s cockpit until he noticed something on one of the holographic screens that made him ask.

“Why is the Imperial Down still here?”

[Beczontop (Imperial Down): Because our FTL drives are fucked!]

“Sensors indicate that both the subspace drive and star drive are offline and that they are attempting to flee the system at sublight speed,” Spector replied.

“Can they make it?”

“Negative. Sublight engines won’t be enough to get them clear of the supernova."

“What if we have the Imperial Down fire on Spector Unit 6 so that it can absorb the energy?”

“It would take too long to charge the NDS system using only one ship, and given the available time before the solar bomb impacts the sun, your plan would not succeed.”

“What’s wrong with their FTL drives?” Adam asked.

“I can’t say for certain without access to the Imperial Down’s mainframe; however, I can make a calculated guess that its subspace drive was overloaded when it was knocked out of subspace. As for the stardrive, I have no idea.”

[Beczontop (Imperial Down): It was sabotaged.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Sabotaged?]

[Lizziethetruepower (Palaxia): Seriously? Why the fuck does our race have such bad luck?]

[Beczontop (Imperial Down): There were traitors on board the ship who were presumably working with those who ambushed us. They have sabotaged the stardrive, making it impossible for us to enter FTL until it is repaired.]

“How long until repairs are complete?” Adam asked as he saw what Becky had written in chat.

[Beczontop (Imperial Down): No clue, our engineers are working on it, but right now all they can tell us is that the issue lies not with the hardware but with the software.]

[Superherofangirl (Earth): Why sabotage the software? Wouldn’t it be more effective to damage the stardrive itself?]

[LadyErkath (Alastor): It would, but no one wants to be stranded in space. I’m guessing the saboteurs were never told that they would be killed along with the Imperial Down’s' destruction and thus planned to fix the problem after the attackers achieved their goals.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Makes sense. It takes a special type of person to be willing to sacrifice themselves after all.]

[HackerSu (Trillion): So why not just find the saboteur and force them to fix it?]

[Beczontop (Imperial Down): We can’t, they’re dead.]

[HackerSu (Trillion): Seriously? 😩]

[Emojisonly (Earth): 😩]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): You killed them? That was kind of stupid.]

[OracleRomy (Elysium): Is this because of the special operation to eliminate all the remaining traitors in the Terran Empire that Empress Victoria Terrana just spoke about on USNN?]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): Special operation?]

[LadyErkath (Alastor): Why don’t you look it up yourselves? You all have access to the Universal Subspace Network now, right?]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): Oh shit, with everything happening, I forgot about that.]

[Puntanghunter69Ver2 (International Space Station): Space porn here I come, baby.]

[Beczontop (Imperial Down): Errr, we’re still on the verge of being burnt to a crisp by an exploding sun here.]

“Suggestion, if the sabotage done to the Imperial Down is indeed software-based, I may be able to resolve it if given access,” Spector suggested.

“Ok,” Adam replied as he turned Spector Unit 6 towards the Imperial Down and flew towards it at full speed.

“Captain, Spector Unit Six has altered course and is heading our way,” The Imperial Downs sensor operator announced.

“Why is it doing that?” Andria asked as she continued to operate the ship's helm.

“Captain Ororis, we have come up with a plan on how to escape our current predicament,” Tessa announced over the intercom.

“I’m all ears, Princess,” Andria replied.

“Once Spector Unit Six arrives, it plans to interface with the Imperial Down’s mainframe so that its AI can attempt to fix whatever the saboteurs did to the stardrive's software,” Tessa announced.

“You want to give a third-party AI access to our ship’s mainframe?” Andria repeated in disbelief before adding with a frown, “Princess, might I remind you that the Imperial Down is a cruiser-class TISF ship and its mainframe holds countless pieces of classified information as well as the crew's personnel information?

Given an individual access to that is already a major breach of protocol and security that could get me court-martialled and arrested on treason, let alone an advanced AI that can access far more information far quicker than any person.”

“I am aware of that, Captain Andria, so let the record show that I, Princess Tessa Terrana, am ordering it under my position as First Princess of the Terran Empire and will take full responsibility for these actions,” Tessa announced.

“As you command, princess,” Andria replied before adding, “But let the record show that I am against this course of action.”

“Understood, Andria,” Tessa replied.

“What the fuck, cuz. You would rather we all perish?” Becky asked angrily.

“As a military officer and member of the Terran Imperial Space Force, our duty is to protect the empire, her people and its secrets, even if that means sacrificing ourselves,” Andria responded before adding in an annoyed tone, “As a TISF officer yourself, you should be well aware of that, Lieutenant.”

There was an awkward tension after Andria finished speaking, which was finally broken by the sensor officer who announced, “Spector Unit Six approaching from the rear.”

After Spector Unit 6 caught up with the Imperial Down, Adam had it fly alongside before looking at his sensor readouts and saying, “Its shields are still up.”

“Affirmative. I am unable to access the Imperial Down’s mainframe without making direct contact,” Spector replied.

[Beczontop (Imperial Down): Don’t worry, the princess has issued an order to allow you access, so the shields should be dropping momentarily.]

[Tessisdabest (Imperial Down): Might I suggest you bring your mech into our landing bay? That way it can escape with us once your AI fixes our stardrive.]

[Beczontop (Imperial Down): Ohhhh, that makes sense. I mean, your ship has already left, so there is no way for your mech to escape the supernova, right?]

[OfficialKasumi (Aqua Primus): And here I was concerned that his mech would be destroyed.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): That will make a certain race happy. I’m sure the last thing they would want to see is the destruction of a mech that looks like their saviour.]

“Then I will take you up on your generous offer, but I must insist that none of the Imperial Down’s crew attempt to ascertain my mech's secrets,” Adam replied.

[Tessisdabest (Imperial Down): I’m sure the princess would be more than willing to accommodate your request, considering all that you have done to help us.]

“The Imperial Down is lowering its shields,” Spector suddenly announced.
