Chapter 620 609: Analysis (Part 1)
Perhaps it was because there were outsiders in the room, so his subordinate spoke in a very low voice. After Huang Yong finished listening to the report, he couldn't help but exclaim:
"What? You said he's back? Where is he?! Where is he now?"
After receiving a response from his subordinate, Huang Yong dared not delay. This was no trivial matter, and he quickly slipped back into the room.
Old Zhao and Tang Xiaoquan both deduced from Huang Yong's panicked expression and the commotion outside the door that something might have happened at the Factory.
Liu Fugui was no exception, though this old fox's face always retained a calm and detached expression, as if nothing in the world could faze him.
Although Tang Xiaoquan didn't quite approve of some of Liu Fugui's ways of doing things, he couldn't help but admire and envy the man's calm style.
He understood that such composure and tranquility were the results of enduring various storms and were not something one could cultivate overnight.
Of course, Tang Xiaoquan also believed that as long as he could survive in this post-apocalyptic world, one day he could be as unaffected by external forces as Liu Fugui. However, at present, he was still too far from this goal.
Huang Yong leaned close to Liu Fugui's ear, rapidly moving his mouth, and as he spoke, Liu Fugui's brows gradually furrowed, though he soon returned to his original calm state.
"Alright, I understand. Go down and check the situation. Also, have everyone return and tell him I'll be there shortly!"
Liu Fugui quickly made arrangements. The others, who were unclear about the situation, watched as Huang Yong hurriedly left the chairman's office.
Once Huang Yong left, Liu Fugui stood slightly apologetically and said:
"Uh... I'm sorry, everyone, but I'm afraid our conversation will have to pause for now. My subordinate just reported that there's a minor issue at the Factory that requires my attention. So... well then!"
Liu Fugui called in a subordinate and instructed: "Take the three guests upstairs to rest for now. I'll be back shortly!"
"Ah, Mr. Liu, no need for all the trouble!" Old Zhao, upon hearing Liu Fugui intending to arrange accommodation for them, promptly stood up to take his leave: "Well, Mr. Liu, you should attend to your matters. Don't worry about us. We're about ready to head back anyway."
To this, Liu Fugui waved his hand, inviting them to stay:
"Why leave in such a rush? It's always so hurried. At least have lunch and rest a bit before you go."
"No, Mr. Liu, we appreciate your kindness but we need to hurry back. You know the situation at the villa; those people could come back at any time, so... we really can't delay!"
"Ah~ right, right, see how forgetful I am, already forgetting such important matters in just a short while."
Lightly patting his head twice, Liu Fugui shook his head and smiled wryly at Old Zhao: "Well then, there's always next time. When you come again, we'll have a proper gathering."
"Alright, thank you, Mr. Liu. If you have enough people, remember to send us some reinforcements, haha." Finally, Old Zhao didn't forget to emphasize the request for reinforcements.
Liu Fugui nodded earnestly and then instructed his subordinate to lead Old Zhao and the others downstairs.
Once outside the room, Old Zhao let out a long sigh of relief. He had been worried Liu Fugui would inquire about personal matters, and if he did, with Huang Yong present, he wouldn't even have the chance to lie or make excuses.
And if Liu Fugui found out about Yang Xue slapping his beloved son, it was hard to say what kind of trouble would ensue.
But thankfully, none of that happened in the end, and the conversation went relatively smoothly.
Quickly, the group headed towards the exit. When they reached the corridor, a cloud of smoke filled the entire space.
Old Zhao quickly waved his arm to clear the smoke and saw Wang Qiang, Wei Dazhuang, and Yang Xue.
At this moment, Yang Xue was squatting at the corner of the hallway, smoking, with cigarette butts scattered all around her feet.
Wang Qiang was listlessly standing by Yang Xue's side, clearly in a deeply worn-out state.
At this point, Old Zhao couldn't say much. He squatted down rather helplessly and patted Yang Xue on the back, saying softly:
"Xiao Yang, we're done here. Let's get ready to head back. You should come with us."
After a moment of daze, Yang Xue raised her head unconsciously, her long, damp eyelashes sticking together, clearly having cried.
Seeing no response from her, Old Zhao gently repeated: "Let's go home!"
"Mm!" Nodding faintly, this time Yang Xue finally responded, taking a few puffs on her cigarette before being helped up by Wang Qiang.
Next, the reassembled Survivor Squad quickly left the office building under Liu Fugui's subordinate's lead.
As soon as they stepped out, they spotted a crowd gathering by the iron gate at the front.
As they moved closer, Huang Yong's voice soon reached their ears; he seemed to be understanding the situation from his subordinates.
But suddenly, the sound of a noisy engine roar came from outside the gate, making it difficult for Old Zhao and the others to hear the conversation.
Tang Xiaoquan wary moved his gaze from the group surrounding Huang Yong and shifted it toward the Factory's gate.
Outside the gate was an old four-wheel pickup truck, its muddy tires and dirt-covered body indicating it had traveled a long distance from the suburbs.
And to figure out what exactly was going on, Old Zhao promptly approached Huang Yong.
As soon as the latter finished talking to his subordinate, Old Zhao hurriedly interjected: "Ah, Mr. Huang, did something happen at the Factory? Is there anything we can help with? If so, please feel free to tell us, don't hesitate to ask us!"
Huang Yong turned his head, rolling his eyes upon seeing Zhao Yunhai, and replied impatiently: "Help us? Hmph, thanks, but no need. We don't have anything that requires your help; you should just handle your own matters first."
"Haha, Mr. Liu's instruction is spot on."
Huang Yong's words had a hint of opposition, but Old Zhao didn't mind. After chuckling awkwardly a couple of times, he didn't continue the conversation.
However, after laughing, he remembered that Huang Yong hadn't reported the conflict between Wang Qiang, Yang Xue, and Liu Yunpeng earlier in the chairman's office, so he immediately spoke up again:
"About the matter with the young folks earlier, we really have to thank Mr. Huang for keeping it confidential!"
To this, Huang Yong gave a cold laugh, thinking to himself, if it weren't for Liu Fugui valuing your trade routes, I would've long since dealt with you all! (To be continued.
