Chapter 95: Feed Me With a Spoon? (3)
Fordman, seeing Glivern’s reaction, basked in a sense of pride.
“Alright! Alright! Let’s leave the curiosity at that. Next is the third product.”
Once again, a large stone slab was pulled out from a big bag.
“The pamphlet says ‘Pyro.’ What is this used for?”
“It’s a multi-purpose furnace. You install it on the floor or a table and can light a fire to any size you want.”
Fordman placed it on the table and pressed a button protruding from one side.
Then, fire sprang up from one of the three circles carved into the stone slab.
“Does fire come out from the other circles in the same way?”
“Yes. You can control the fire in three stages. And heat is directed downward with heat-blocking materials laid underneath to prevent fire hazards. That’s all the products I have to show you.”
There were three items in total.
All of them perfectly appealed to Glivern.
No matter how they were sold, people would buy them.
Especially the iPot and Pyro—any place that made food would have to buy them.
“What are the prices? And quantities? Can you deliver them all? If we have to wait, please do it as quickly as possible!”
Excited, Glivern spoke without pause.
Seeing this, Fordman felt proud again and answered,
“Calm down. For now, there are 3,000 iPots and 1,000 Pyros. The prices are 120 silver and 250 silver each.”
In total, that came to 3,600 gold for iPots and 2,500 gold for Pyros—6,190 gold altogether.
And that didn’t even include the flush toilets or the purification magic tablets.
“Do you really have that many in stock right now?”
“If you give us a little time, we can bring the second and third batches in a few days.”
These products were still being made in the Theron production district of the Kanas Territory.
As long as the manufacturing method didn’t leak, they could be monopolized indefinitely.
“We’ll buy as many as you have!”
“Ah! But you have to set the selling price reasonably. If you blindly mark it too high to make a bigger profit, even the best products won’t sell.”
“I understand perfectly! In that case, could we also request a luxurious version for royalty and nobles?”
“First, let’s look at the test products we’ve made.”
“Understood. As soon as we confirm the products, we’ll draft the contract immediately.”
The two continued their negotiations happily.
Then, they left the trading house to inspect the goods.
They entered the bustling streets once again.
“How did you bring all that quantity here?”
It would be enormous to transport by carriage.
But if they had come by carriage, the timing wouldn’t have worked out.
“You’ll see when we get there.”
Their steps headed toward the dock.
Walking along the sea, they noticed a crowd of people gathered.
“What’s happening?”
Glivern raised his head, curious.
Among the many ships docked, something unusual caught his eye.
“What are those sailing ships? I’ve never seen this type before.”
The two ships were not standard—they were flat-bottomed.
Naturally, they looked unfamiliar.
The large sails were all furled, and a strange snake emblem flew as a flag above the main mast.
People had gathered because of those two ships.
“They’re our ships.”
“Eh? Those ships?”
Curious, Glivern noticed the emblem on the armor and tunics worn by Jade and Caldein.
It matched the flag they had just seen.
“Oh? So these are the ships that Fordman and your party arrived on?”
“Yes. Now! Please make way.”
As Fordman, Jade Raizen, and Caldein Flavan moved forward, Captain Parfil on the upper deck noticed them and lowered a boarding platform.
“Have you taken care of your business?”
“No. I brought Glivern Ratea from Ratea Trading Company to check the goods.”
As they went up, Glivern stood there blankly.
“You’re not coming?”
“Oh! I am.”
Glivern finally stepped onto the platform and climbed aboard.
The ship’s upper deck was no different from a typical sailing ship.
“The goods are in the rear of the ship and in the storage under the cabin.”
Jade and Caldein stayed on deck to guard the ship.
Meanwhile, Fordman led Glivern down to the storage with the goods.
Opening the storage door, Raion Canel lit it with a magical artifact.
Flash—!
The brightly lit storage made Fordman’s eyes widen.
“This is incredible. You really brought this much quantity on a ship. And these lanterns are a type I’ve never seen before.”
“Those were made in Dragonia as well.”
“If these lanterns can be produced, I definitely want to receive them for delivery.”
Glivern seemed ready to sweep up all of Fordman’s products.
Yet, he carefully examined the items in the storage.
Though impressed, his habit as the owner of Ratea Trading Company couldn’t be ignored.
“Huh? What’s this?”
“Wait a moment. That’s still a test product!”
It was covered with cloth.
When they lifted it, they saw a spring mattress, improved sleeping bags, and logs.
“What did you put inside that makes it so soft? And why is it so warm?”
“We put in springs. The sleeping bags are made from a mix of Rickbird feathers and cotton.”
“Ah~! Then this… could it be… Steeloud? A whole one?”
At Glivern’s fussing, Fordman scratched the back of his head.
“Yes.”
“One, two, three… twelve Steelouds?”
Even one cost at least 20 gold.
With twelve, the total value was 240 gold.
“It’s something Ratea Trading Company would be eager for, but we haven’t decided to sell it yet.”
“Is it really not possible? Not long ago, there was an order for a staff made from Steeloud at the Royal Capital, but I couldn’t include it…”
Royal orders would have brought huge prices and margins.
But Ratea Trading Company couldn’t procure Steeloud, so they had to refuse.
“Hmm……”
“Please. I’ll pay double the usual price for this.”
It easily exceeded 480 gold.
And that was the minimum price—it could go even higher.
“Double the price? Let me think about it. For now, all of these products will be contracted.”
“Of course. I was worried we wouldn’t get good products this year, but thanks to you, we made it. I’ll go back immediately, draft the contract, and return.”
“We’ll deliver the goods as soon as the contract is finalized.”
“Understood!”
Glivern replied and left the ship.
Fordman, who had finished seeing him off to the front, scratched his head furiously.
Seeing this, Jade Raizen came up beside him and asked,
“Is the contract proceeding without any issues?”
“I think it should be fine……”
“Has another problem arisen?”
“They asked if Ratea Trading Company could sell Steeloud.”
Jade made a troubled expression at that answer.
“That wood… didn’t Master tell you to go to Mistel in Prios to make Caldein’s staff?”
In Mistel of Prios, there were many master craftsmen of magical tools.
Especially Steeloud and other tools made from magical materials were mostly exported from there.
“That’s right. They said they’d pay double the market price there, by the way.”
Jade could understand Fordman’s dilemma.
Not just a little more—double the price was quite a profitable deal.
Moreover, there was more Steeloud in Kanas, so going back wouldn’t be a problem.
But since it was Master Raion’s instruction, that point gave him pause.
“Ask Master directly.”
“Directly speak? Ah!”
Fordman suddenly remembered something he hadn’t considered.
He immediately went down from the deck.
He opened the door at the end of the cabin corridor and entered.
Inside was a large communication device—a Post.
It was installed on all Dragonia ships.
The Post powered on, and Fordman connected to Raion with his personal authentication card.
Whirrr—!
Raion’s face appeared on the screen in front of him.
―What’s going on? Have you arrived at Archia?
“I arrived there earlier.”
―Did a problem occur?
“No, nothing like that. But an important proposal came in. Ratea Trading Company wants to purchase Steeloud at double the market price……”
Whoosh! Hoo-hoosh!
Meanwhile, Raion’s screen shook violently.
Puzzled, Fordman tilted his head and spoke again.
“Master, is something wrong?”
―I’m hunting.
“Hunting?”
―I’m hunting a Caspisnake. If it’s double the market price, it’s a good deal, right?
“Those things are huge and fast! Are you okay?”
The Caspisnake looked like a snake and was a monster over three meters long.
―I’m busy, so handle it yourself! I can’t keep spoon-feeding you!
Click—!
The communication ended.
Sitting dazed, Fordman just scratched his head and went outside.
Jade saw Fordman like that on the deck.
“What did Master say?”
“He said to do it as we see fit.”
“As we see fit? Master……”
Jade continued with a serious expression.
“Seems he was annoyed.”
“Exactly. Even though we were connected, he said he’s hunting a Caspisnake.”
“And he was talking while hunting it? That’s incredible.”
Fordman and Jade both shook their heads in disbelief.
Then Fordman moved to leave to notify Ratea Trading Company.
“I’ll go with you. Caldein can stay on the ship.”
“If that’s fine, I’ll go look for some books.”
As the center of trade, there would be valuable texts.
Caldein said this and left the ship with Fordman and Jade.
The people who had been exploring the ship earlier had dispersed.
By then, the sun was setting, making the streets somewhat quieter.
Fordman and Jade walked toward Ratea Trading Company.
On the way, five burly, grim-looking men blocked their path.
“You must be the merchant Fordman, right?”
“Yes, but who are you?”
He tilted his head, seeing unfamiliar faces.
“You’ll be coming with us.”
Sensing the tense atmosphere, Jade positioned Fordman behind him and stepped forward.
“Who are you? If you want to take someone, shouldn’t you introduce yourselves properly first?”
Despite Jade’s sharp question, the burly men remained cold and unyielding.
