Chapter 111 : The Divided Eye of the Moon
Chapter 111 : The Divided Eye of the Moon
Chapter 111: The Divided Eye of the Moon
Regina still had her head lowered.
Raion continued, his tone sharp and edged with cold fury.
“Don’t tell me you had no idea this was happening?”
The Eye of the Moon had moved two mid-rank Swordmasters to assassinate Prince Raion.
As if that weren’t enough, they had even tried to seize the rights to the goods produced under Raion Dragonia’s name.
It was unimaginable that something like this could happen within the Eye of the Moon, an organization that prided itself on trust with its clients.
“……I have no excuse.”
“What’s your countermeasure?”
“For now, we’ve determined that the Eye of the Moon’s top echelon has completely defected.”
“Defected? Are you saying there are traitors?”
At that question, Regina let out a deep sigh.
“It means the leadership has completely rotted.”
“You mean the leader of the Eye of the Moon has turned against you entirely?”
Raion’s eyes widened in shock.
In the original future, nothing like this had ever happened.
“It seems to be because of Your Highness’s position and circumstances—and the high value of the goods coming out of the Kanas Territory.”
The Eye of the Moon had always been an underworld organization run steadfastly on trust.
Even in the future Raion knew, that hadn’t changed.
But now, it seemed that this current situation had been created by Raion’s own hand.
‘Did someone who wasn’t like that become greedy because of what I made?’
The profits generated by the recipes and various goods were beyond imagination.
For an individual, it might have been more than enough reason to betray.
But the opponent wasn’t some ordinary person—it was the Eye of the Moon itself.
Thoughts upon thoughts tangled endlessly.
And yet, no proper solution came to mind.
‘No, that’s not right. I didn’t know everything. There could be things I didn’t know even in my previous life.’
Before his regression and reincarnation, Raion had been nothing but a cowardly prince.
He had only picked up bits of information through books and rumors.
Of course, information about the Eye of the Moon had also been one of the things Patrick had told him in the original timeline.
However, even Patrick’s information had come from his past memories, so it wasn’t entirely accurate.
While Raion was sorting his thoughts, Regina spoke again.
“Given the current situation, I believe the Eye of the Moon has split.”
“What about the Royal Capital branch?”
“To be honest, things aren’t looking good there either.”
Regina wasn’t pleased with the current situation herself.
The leader, Stain Craven, had abandoned the organization’s trust out of greed.
“What about you, then? If the leader’s turned traitor, doesn’t that mean you’ve done the same?”
After all, they were both members of the Eye of the Moon.
Regina’s eyes sharpened at that.
“Doesn’t my being here answer that question?”
If she had truly defected, she would have disappeared without a trace.
Raion knew what she meant, but he asked anyway, to test her resolve.
“So what do you plan to do?”
“First, I’ve already recovered as much of the incoming funds as possible through our side.”
“How much?”
“The total recovered is around 300,000 gold. Aside from that, the top echelon seems to have swallowed about 150,000 gold, much like what happened in the last territory.”
150,000 gold—about fifteen billion won in Korean currency.
Raion frowned at her words.
Even though he had managed to recover 300,000 gold, it still felt like a loss.
“Tsk! We just ended up filling those bastards’ bellies for nothing.”
“Still, thanks to Miss Regina’s quick action, this much recovery is already fortunate,” Patrick said carefully, trying to soothe Raion’s rising irritation.
Raion understood that sentiment.
He scratched his head once and looked at Regina again.
“What will you do about the Eye of the Moon? If the leadership has turned, doesn’t that make your current position meaningless?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Because the Eye of the Moon has factions divided by Imperial and Kingdom branches. In a sense, it’s a coalition operating under a single name.”
“Then you mean you have your own faction?”
Raion’s curiosity was piqued—it was the first time he’d heard such a thing.
Regina continued seriously.
“The Eye of the Moon was formed hundreds of years ago, when groups of thieves, assassins, and information gatherers banded together.”
“That much I know.”
“It’s not that complicated. The factions that served as the foundation of the organization have continued to this day.”
“So you’re one of the inheritors of such a faction?”
“That’s right. It was a group once forgotten by time—the Blue Sun.”
At those words, Raion suddenly thought of the store name, Blue Sunset.
“Don’t tell me you took the name Blue Sunset from that?”
“The main leadership was formed from two groups: the Black Crescent, which specialized in assassination, and the Blue Sun, which handled intelligence. From those two, the name Blue Sunset was born.”
“Then what exactly are you planning to do?”
“What His Highness is trying to create through Kanas—we wish to join in.”
“With what? The Eye of the Moon is in ruins right now.”
“I’ll revive the Blue Sun.”
That meant the Eye of the Moon had completely changed.
At this rate, it was doubtful they could even collect proper information anymore.
As Raion considered this, he frowned at Regina’s declaration.
“Is that even possible in this situation?”
“The leader of the Eye of the Moon, Stain Craven—he crossed the line long ago. The Blue Sun sensed that early and was already preparing to cut ties.”
With those words, she handed him a document made of parchment.
It contained the names of places and numerous people.
“A petition of signatures?”
“Correct. The Blue Sun was only forgotten within the organization. Its lineage has continued.”
“Then why show me something so important?”
“I’m not a fool.”
“What do you mean?”
“Everything His Highness has created so far…… it’s shaking the entire continent. And yet, I can’t help but feel that this is only the beginning.”
Their conversation had grown long.
Before they realized it, Patrick had brewed tea beside them and set it forward.
“Please, have some while you talk.”
“Thank you.”
Raion took a sip and spoke again.
“Does that mean the will of the Blue Sun has chosen to follow me?”
“Yes, it does.”
“And it’s not just your will alone?”
“I am the Blue Sun. So my will is the Blue Sun’s will.”
Regina’s expression was firm, her resolve unwavering.
Feeling the weight of her conviction, I found myself nodding.
“Good. I’ll accept it. If you need funds, tell Patrick anytime. As for everything else, continue as before.”
“Thank you. I’ll keep that in mind.”
Those who crossed from Clamen Village into the territory were astonished once again.
Cleanly paved roads and uniquely styled buildings stood in orderly rows.
It felt more prosperous than any territory they had ever lived in or passed through.
“This is really the Kanas Territory?”
“Wasn’t it supposed to be a barren place?”
“At this rate, it looks even greater than the Royal Capital!”
Howard, Allen, and Aizel busily looked around with wide eyes.
Before long, they stopped by the Adventurer’s Guild.
Howard, who had briefly gone to the restroom, returned with a look of shock.
“Hey! Inside there—!”
“What’s wrong?”
“The restroom’s amazing! There’s no smell at all! And it’s clean!”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
Ordinarily, restrooms were always foul-smelling places.
It was common for people to hold it in as long as possible before using one.
Even after hearing Howard’s words, the others found it hard to believe.
Unable to resist his curiosity, Aizel went to check for himself.
“It’s unbelievable! That’s really a restroom?”
The toilets being produced in the Theron production district had been distributed throughout the entire territory.
Of course, all installation costs and sanitation facilities were fully covered by the lord’s administration.
Thanks to that, most of the residents of the territory could maintain cleanliness.
“This place is full of wonders.”
“It’s the same for Clamen Village earlier. The entire village is said to be protected by an ‘Energy Wall’…….”
The village itself was located in the middle of the monster-filled Clamen Mountains.
Naturally, monsters constantly tried to invade and attack from all directions.
Yet, they couldn’t scale or break through the walls surrounding the village; they merely struggled and vanished.
It was a sight that anyone would find extraordinary.
Just then, Calsios, the knight who guarded Clamen Village, entered from outside.
“Did you finish your business comfortably?”
“Sir Calsios, what is this territory?!”
“You must be surprised to see so many unfamiliar things.”
In truth, even Calsios had been astonished when he first saw the changes Raion had brought to the territory.
“Is the entire territory like this?”
“For the most part, yes—unless it’s an extreme frontier region.”
“Ah∼! Then the Lord of Kanas must be an incredible person.”
At Howard’s admiration, Calsios shook his head.
“It’s not the lord who revived this territory.”
“Huh? Then who…?”
“The Master.”
“You mean His Highness?”
“That’s right. He’s the one who changed everything here. The villages too.”
As questions continued, Aizel asked something that had been bothering him.
“The ‘Energy Wall’ around Clamen Village earlier—who made that? Does Kanas Territory have a high-ranking mage?”
“You mean the Mana Barrier surrounding the village?”
He was referring to the magic known as Energy Wall.
“Yes.”
“I can’t explain the details, but there is one high-ranking mage. Though they’re currently away.”
“What Circle are they?”
“Fifth Circle.”
Aizel’s eyes widened even more than when he had seen the restroom.
Howard and Allen beside him were equally stunned.
Especially Aizel—he was currently an advanced Third Circle mage, on the verge of reaching the Fourth Circle.
But crossing that boundary was no easy feat.
“When will they return?”
“They accompanied the trade delegation, so it may take some time.”
“Trade? With another territory?”
“No. They first went to Archia, and are now likely in Mistel.”
At Calsios’s explanation, Howard paused to think—and then his eyes went wide again.
“Do you mean Archia in the Edina Kingdom and Mistel in the Prios Kingdom?”
“Unless there are other places with those names, yes.”
“Then that means they traveled for maritime trade. But that’s impossible—the sea route from here is unusable.”
From what outsiders knew, trade from the Kanas Territory was impossible.
Especially by sea—no ship could enter or leave because of the Sea Serpent Nest.
It was such well-known common knowledge that it was hard to believe otherwise.
“The sea route’s been opened. And, of course, that too was achieved by His Highness.”
“Ha…….”
The three of them, who had already been amazed by Raion’s skill as a Swordmaster, could only sigh in wonder once more.
Now, stories that far surpassed even that were being told one after another.
