Chapter 440 - 442 Spirit Root [1/5]
Chapter 440 - 442 Spirit Root [1/5]
"Dad, dad, dad!"
Of course, Wu Tian was still unaware of the plans being made by the elders of the Eastern Taizhong Palace. He had just finished his cultivation when the little one came running over joyfully with Little Kirin and Little Phoenix. The Kunpeng was being raised in a small backyard pond. No Heaven Villa was never short of pavilions, gazebos, or a pond stocked with fish and shrimp—all essentials for spending idle time fishing. This pond, built for that very purpose, had now become the little Kunpeng’s home.
A smile appeared on Wu Tian’s face as he watched the little figure bouncing toward him. He doted on this girl, and she was sensible too, occasionally even giving her old dad a massage.
No wonder they say a daughter keeps her father’s heart warm. It’s really true!
Wu Tian also focused on his daughter’s education. She still had to return to the Surface World every day through the Teleportation Formation to attend Jixia Academy. Only after school could she return to No Heaven Villa in the Underground World. She was diligent, completed her schoolwork well, and trained hard in her cultivation. Now, she had already reached the Innate realm, strong enough to fight the Seven Saints of Dragon Country!
"What’s up?" Wu Tian asked as he patted her head, wondering why she was calling for him so excitedly.
"Dad, here, this is delicious." She reached into her pocket and, in a flash, pulled out a huge lollipop. She had bought the lollipop at a snack stand outside Jixia Academy in the Surface World. For a child, it was undoubtedly a tasty treat.
But looking at it, Wu Tian felt a little dismayed. He had no interest in such things. Little Kirin and Little Phoenix also looked at Wu Tian expectantly. They had tried the lollipop and found it quite good, so they hoped their dad would like it too.
The little one’s eyes were full of hope. "Dad, just have one bite."
Wu Tian could only nod and take a taste. The lollipop looked very pretty and delicate, but to him, the flavor was nothing special.
Perhaps girls just like pretty things?
"How is it? Is it tasty?" the little one asked eagerly.
"Delicious!" Wu Tian said. Upon hearing this, she immediately burst into joyful laughter. Wu Tian didn’t know what else to say. Honestly, it wasn’t tasty at all, but for his daughter’s sake, he had to say it.
Just then, Qin Yuhan came running over in a hurry. It was her first time running with Spiritual Power, so she couldn’t stop in time and crashed right into Wu Tian’s arms. The first things he registered were a soft, springy sensation and the enticing scent wafting from her.
"It’s the middle of the day! We can’t do this!" Qin Yuhan exclaimed, pushing him away.
"You’re the one who ran into me," Wu Tian pointed out.
"No, it was you who didn’t dodge. You let me run into you," Qin Yuhan huffed.
Wu Tian chuckled but didn’t argue. Arguing with a woman is a losing battle! There’s a saying that goes, "Never argue with a woman; you may win the argument but lose the relationship!"
"You’re right. I stood here so you could run into me," Wu Tian said with a smile.
"That’s more like it." Qin Yuhan smiled, then remembered something. "The village chief of Peach Blossom Spring and that Mr. Yuan are waiting outside. It seems they want all of us to go over."
"All of us? Did they say what it’s about?" Wu Tian asked calmly.
"Apparently, an Elder from the Eastern Taizhong Palace has arrived to test everyone for Spirit Roots," Qin Yuhan said, her voice full of interest.
The Method of Cultivation discovered in the Underground World focused heavily on Spirit Roots. There were many types, including common, fire, water, grass, electric, ice, bug, flying, ground, rock, poison, evil, and steel. A person with a good Spirit Root would be selected by a sect of Immortal Seekers and receive intensive training.
Wu Tian thought for a moment, then smiled. "Alright, let’s go take a look."
The cultivation in the Immortal Emperor Realm is practically Fantasy. The Surface World is martial arts. The Underground World is Cultivation. These are all completely different systems.
He was also curious to see if his body possessed a so-called Spirit Root.
Wu Tian led Qin Yuhan and his daughter out of the house. Murong Yezi wasn’t around, as she still preferred the Surface World. At the villa’s entrance, they met Tao Qianyang and Yuan Beizheng. After a brief chat, they followed the two men toward the center of Peach Blossom Spring.
Watching Wu Tian’s back, Yuan Beizheng and Tao Qianyang wore complex expressions. Over the past three days, they had spoken with Wu Tian about all sorts of topics—from music, chess, literature, and art to astronomy, geography, the Five Elements, and the Bagua. They discovered that Wu Tian was remarkably knowledgeable about everything. Yuan Beizheng was astonished that one person could have the time to learn so many things.
I wonder what kind of Spirit Root Mr. Wu Tian has? Tao Qianyang and Yuan Beizheng both secretly wondered. They had no idea that Wu Tian’s Method of Cultivation was different from theirs. They still assumed he had merely cultivated the martial arts system to its peak.
Finally, the square of Peach Blossom Spring came into view. It was crowded with people. This square was always bustling. In the evenings, families would bring out their most delicious dishes to share with others. Young men and women would sing folk songs in duet, and old men would be engrossed in games of chess. It was a lively, joyous place. But today, even more people had gathered in the square. After the incident with Fusang, the villagers were finally eager to begin their own cultivation.
"Mr. Wu Tian, come over here," Tao Qianyang suddenly called out. "This gentleman is the Second Elder of the Eastern Taizhong Palace, a mainstay of the Righteous Path. Come, let me introduce you."
Wu Tian followed Tao Qianyang’s gaze and saw an old man in a green robe standing arrogantly in the center of the square.
Wu Tian’s brow furrowed slightly. What’s so special about him that he needs an introduction? In other words, the so-called Second Elder of the Eastern Taizhong Palace isn’t worthy of my acquaintance. From what I can see, these Immortal Seekers are nothing special.
At that moment, Wu Tian could discern the Second Elder’s cultivation level. He was at the Fifth Realm of Cultivation, Fasting. Wu Tian’s own Spiritual Power was at the peak of the mid-Tongxuan Realm, which was roughly equivalent. However, the foundation of their power was different: one cultivated Yuan Force, while the other cultivated Spiritual Power. Furthermore, although Wu Tian’s Spiritual Power was only at the Tongxuan Realm, his fundamental cultivation was still that of an Immortal Emperor. If they were to truly fight, Wu Tian was certain he could beat the man to death within ten moves.
After waiting a moment, Tao Qianyang saw that Wu Tian hadn’t moved. Instead, he was staring indifferently at the Second Elder, showing no intention of meeting him. This put Tao Qianyang in an awkward position. But he couldn’t control Wu Tian. He could only turn to the Second Elder and explain with a forced smile, "Mr. Wu Tian is no ordinary person, and his temperament is a bit different. Please forgive him, Second Elder."
The Second Elder’s face turned ugly. As a member of the esteemed Eastern Taizhong Palace, his status in this region was incredibly high. He never expected to be snubbed so blatantly by some nobody. He snorted and said in a passive-aggressive tone, "I am a magnanimous man and won’t hold it against him. Is everyone here now? If so, let’s begin testing for Spirit Roots."
