Chapter 533 - 507: Eye-Stinging and Heart-Piercing
Chapter 533 - 507: Eye-Stinging and Heart-Piercing
"You rascal, what do you think you’re doing, huh?" Qian slightly tilted her head up.
"Take a guess..."
Qian closed her eyes, enjoying the intimate moment with her lover. This was the feeling she was looking for—a sense of satisfaction that was more intoxicating than alcohol, providing her with a sense of belonging and pulling her out of the empathy she had built with her patients.
She needed to ground herself, to escape the piercing pain brought on by her patients.
She had pulled Hu Meijing back from despair, but her own heart was still trapped in that situation. Yu Minglang’s appearance was just what she needed to free herself from this discomfort.
In the past, Qian would occasionally experience emotional lows after work, turning to alcohol to numb herself, but now she had found a better way to relieve stress than alcohol.
The moment he appeared, a sense of calm settled in her heart.
Their eyes met, the atmosphere was just right.
"Am I interrupting? Oops, did I come at the wrong time?"
Zheng Xu barged in with two bottles of wine, casually leaning against the door as he unabashedly enjoyed the scene, with a mischievous grin on his face.
"Pfft!"
Yu Minglang cursed under his breath and immediately draped his coat, which he had just taken off, over Qian. Qian was not surprised by the situation; she bet Zheng Xu had been there for a while, deliberately waiting until things heated up before making his presence known.
That sly grin on his face was solid evidence.
"If you want to wipe it clean, go ahead. I run an honest business here, so don’t bring any unnecessary drama into it." Zheng Xu placed the wine on the table, watching Qian lazily draped in Yu Minglang’s coat, which was a bit of an eyesore.
"I’ll get you some cheaper stuff, we just got a new one for 7 bucks a bottle—perfect for folks who can’t control their emotions. You’ll have a splitting headache the next day after drinking it."
Yu Minglang held down the wine bottle to stop him from taking it back. "Save that for yourself, to drink after you’re done wallowing. The two of us are serious people, not like you, a retired third-rate vagabond."
"Can’t be bothered to argue with you." Zheng Xu was just joking around as he bypassed Yu Minglang and sat next to Qian.
"What brings you here today?"
"Not welcome?"
"How could that be, it’s just that next time come by yourself. I’ve got some finer wine saved up for us two, no need to bring this one who’s prone to biting." Zheng Xu nodded towards Yu Minglang, who was wrestling with a cork.
Yu Minglang decided that when pouring wine later, he’d sneakily spit into Zheng Xu’s cup when he’s not looking.
"Mr. Zheng, aren’t you busy? Not going to interview those beautiful women? I heard the women here are as numerous as clouds, Mr. Zheng can’t keep up with them all!"
"How do you know there are so many beauties here?" Qian asked curiously.
Zheng Xu immediately put on an ’I understand now’ expression and patted Yu Minglang on the shoulder with a meaningful look.
"Who would have thought that Yu Laomao, you would have such sneaky thoughts? With such a beautiful wife at home, you’re still longing for the outside world. Tsk, tsk. We grew up in the same neighborhood, you can come to my place for free in the future!"
"You better keep that to yourself. No matter how beautiful the world is outside, it can’t compare to a single strand of Qian’s hair, right Qian?" Yu Minglang declared his claim, pulling Qian into his arms to assert his dominance.
He also gave a warning look to the little rascal who was taking joy in his misfortune, collaborating with Zheng Xu. When they get home, he must give her a proper lesson titled "The Importance of Choosing Sides", because he and she are family!
"I think I’m pretty good, but if you ever get bored at home and want to go out looking at the girls, I won’t stop you." Qian lazily intervened, having had enough of watching the childish antics of the two grown men.
"Pfft!" Zheng Xu chuckled gleefully, while Yu Minglang’s face turned green.
"Aren’t you my wife?" Yu Minglang felt deeply hurt. His family status must have been quite low since even someone like "black cucumber" could mock him to his face?
"I haven’t finished my sentence yet, right? If you do go out to enjoy the world outside, I won’t stop you, I might just—" Qian picked up a small Dutch fruit cucumber from the fruit plate and snapped it in half with a crunch.
Zheng Xu swallowed hard, instinctively glancing down at his own vulnerable spot.
Yu Minglang felt instantly healed and even let out a slightly smug hum.
"That’s more like it!"
Smugly glanced at Mr. Zheng, see, my future wife still cares about me!
Zheng Xu rolled his eyes internally. If finding a partner means losing your brains, perhaps staying single is better. Look at Yu Laomao, back in the day, he was quite the character. How did he end up being so thrilled at the threat from a woman?
He didn’t mind having the cucumber snapped in half, and quite happily so?
Love sure does make people lose their minds.
However, ever since Zheng Xu came in with the wine, the atmosphere started taking a turn towards the uncontrollable.
Zheng Xu’s singing was a bit deep, with a slightly hoarse tone that was quite charming. He chose an old song and sang earnestly to Qian, piercing Yu Minglang’s heart with every line.
"Falling in love with someone who doesn’t come home, waiting by a door that’s never opened, with changeable eyes and tightly closed lips, why persist and painfully force, painfully question~"
Yu Minglang sipped on his drink, feeling his teeth ache from the sourness imparted by Zheng Xu.
Listen, listen! What the hell is he singing!
Whining and moaning, and those lyrics, so sour and saccharine. Isn’t this just spoon-feeding Qian some eye drops right in front of him!
This is outright suggesting to Qian that Yu Minglang is often absent from home and if she married him, she’d be alone all the time, isn’t it?
Yu Minglang glanced at Qian from the corner of his eye, feeling a surge of blood pressure. Seeing how engrossed she was, did she really think this whining, sour song was so great?!
No way, Lang can’t just let people bully him without retaliation. It’s time to show Zheng Xu what he’s really made of!
