Chapter 502 - 476: A Turn of Events
The words of Qian affected Mr. Yu deeply.
Qian actually felt more sympathy for the parents of Minglang’s aunt, which is, Minglang’s grandparents.
These two elderly people may not see their daughter mature and sensible until the day they close their eyes.
This kind of immature personality acts like a proud little princess even in old age, doing selfish deeds everywhere. In psychology, it’s called the "giant baby" mentality, a kid who never grows up. They don’t know that at a certain age they should contribute to family and society. 90% of domestic family misfortunes are related to this mentality.
Minglang’s aunt, at her age, wasn’t using the maturity and rationality an adult should have to understand her family.
She only thought about her own satisfaction, without realizing that such actions broke the hearts of Mr. Yu and Mrs. Yu. Ultimately, in Minglang’s aunt’s mind, no one in the world added up is more important than herself; she loves herself too much, always treating herself like a baby.
Qian also loves herself very much, but unlike Minglang’s aunt, Qian has a few important people in her heart. She considers these people’s feelings before doing things, like in the aunt incident, even though Qian had the ability to bring her down forever, she opted for the solution involving Mr. Yu.
All of this was considering Minglang’s feelings, and that’s the difference.
Poor Mr. Yu, and the other elders of the Yu Family, despite a lifetime of affection, there was no return from Minglang’s aunt, and even the excessive devotion turned her into someone who only knows how to take. This outcome is influenced by human selfishness and environmental indulgence, and it’s a result that no one wants to see.
Mr. Yu looked at Qian, wondering why his sister lived so many years but never gained the clarity of a child. Ultimately, he couldn’t think of a reason, only casting a helpless yet fond glance at the jujube tree.
"About what your aunt did to you, I will give you a satisfactory answer, not just for you, but for our family," Mr. Yu said.
Qian said nothing. Mr. Yu was a decisive person and once he made a decision, it was seldom revocable. So him coming here today meant making up his mind to cut off that last bit of tolerance for Minglang’s aunt.
Qian suddenly remembered what Jia Xiufang said to her and Chen Zilong yesterday, about how siblings, however close, will separate after they marry and have their own families. Qian felt indifferent about this.
Everyone has their own life. Family is about combining people from different places to form a whole, and then breaking into new individual units. Separation might sound serious, but having each other’s own lives without interference, supporting each other when in trouble, that’s the wish of the elders.
But unfortunately, things never go as planned; Minglang’s aunt is too capable of self-destruction.
Qian won’t speak well of the enemy, so when Mr. Yu made a promise, she only smiled faintly without expressing any views, neither adding fuel to the fire nor forgiving.
After harm, there’s no forgiveness—that’s the principle. But maybe this principle will change because of the call Mr. Yu is about to receive.
"Sir, there’s a call for you!" a bodyguard ran over from outside, handing Mr. Yu a phone.
Mr. Yu took the phone while speaking to Qian.
"I’ll take a call. In a moment, you can take a ride in my car; I’ll have the driver take you back," he said.
Qian nodded; she should go back to school.
"This is Yu Weiguo—Li Zhen?"
Hearing this name made Qian shiver.
Isn’t this Minglang’s aunt’s son?
The reason for all of Minglang’s aunt’s antics was because of Li Zhen.
Li Zhen was romantically involved with the scumbag Ni Jianren, who almost got engaged to Qian. Ni Jianren first tried to deceive Qian into marriage and later set a fire at Qian’s house, leading Minglang to punish Li Zhen by forcing his uncle to transfer him to a remote area.
Qian didn’t know Li Zhen was in trouble, just rescued from an emergency and now lying in the hospital making the call to Mr. Yu.
She only felt instinctively that something was amiss upon hearing that familiar name.
"How was your surgery, was it successful? What, you still can’t stand up? Child, don’t worry, uncle will find the best doctor for you; you’ll certainly be cured!" Although Mr. Yu hated what Minglang’s aunt did, he couldn’t have much resentment toward her child.
Especially now that Li Zhen faces the risk of paralysis, Mr. Yu could not be harsh. The affairs between parents aside, the child didn’t do anything wrong and should be treated.
"Uncle, the doctor said I might never stand up again, but that’s not the main issue. I want to ask you if you have Chen Xiaoqian’s contact information; I want to talk to her."
Li Zhen’s voice sounded a bit weary.
"You want Qian’s number?" Mr. Yu reflexively glanced at Qian, unsure of the situation, instinctively turned his back to her, lowering his voice to ask.
"Why do you want her number?"
Could this be another round of trouble?
"While lying in the ward, I overheard my parents arguing. I learned my mother did some bad things. I want to apologize to Chen Xiaoqian in person. This started because of me, and I hope she sees that I’m already a ruined person and forgives my mother."
Li Zhen, having spent time in a remote area, went through a character change.
In that county of national poverty, he was far from urban prosperity, free from people’s mind games, and less drawn by neon lights, faced only with honest faces, leading many of his habits as a young master to change.
"This is unnecessary, child, listen to uncle; take good care of your health. This matter isn’t your concern, I have it in mind. Just focus on recovery, understood?" Mr. Yu advised.
"Uncle, really, my conscience is troubled if I don’t see Chen Xiaoqian; I can’t rest peacefully—although, resting or not doesn’t mean much since I’ll be bedridden for the rest of my life. Uncle, please fulfill my wish, okay?"
Mr. Yu felt a pang of sorrow; a young child went out standing and returned laying down, especially when Li Zhen’s situation was his son’s doing. If he claimed to feel no guilt, that would be a lie.
Mr. Yu turned to Qian with difficulty but even before he spoke, he felt his hand lighten.
The bodyguard beside him widened his eyes in shock; someone dared to grab something from the big boss?
Qian snatched Mr. Yu’s phone.
"This is Chen Xiaoqian; we’ll talk face-to-face later. Cooperate well with the doctor, we’ll be there soon."
She hung up after speaking and returned the phone to Mr. Yu.
"Uncle, let’s go."
"You little girl, you really are..."
Mr. Yu was amused and admiring more than anything.
This girl was not simple. Knowing she’d go anyway, rather than agreeing when he’d ask, she took initiative. She really is understanding, competent, and emotionally intelligent.
