Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 415 - 389: Qian’s Might

Chapter 415 - 389: Qian’s Might

"That’s the reporter I got from the TV station..." Wang Xiaohong’s mother was unable to meet Qian’s eyes, her gaze evasive.

"Which TV station? Did you bring your work ID? Did you bring your journalist ID?"

Qian asked knowingly. If it was a real reporter, they would have identified themselves immediately and shown their credentials because such civil disputes couldn’t be handled undercover. Not announcing themselves was suspicious.

Everyone turned to look. The cameraman shook his head in frustration, "I only took 500 yuan to come along, and they’re smashing my equipment and hitting my legs, that’s too much!!!"

He was just a photography enthusiast who came for some easy money, but who knew he’d encounter such a scene? It wasn’t worth it.

"Did you all hear that? 500 yuan! My god, that’s half a month’s wages for a regular person! What kind of poor family can do this? Do you all now believe what they came to do? Recruiting members!"

That concept has been popular in recent years, and for regular folks, it sounded terrifying, but they weren’t sure what it was specifically—they just heard from the news that it was deceptive.

"What will happen if she films us?" An elderly woman, who had been loudly accusing Qian earlier, asked nervously.

"She might mute the footage and add voice-overs herself. Imagine if they voice-over this scene as them recruiting new members, you would all become their tools. If they do a voice-over, it will have another meaning. They might film a kneeling scene to show they’re being bullied, and after you all leave, they’ll film a rise to wealth through scams. Once this airs, deceiving thousands to bankruptcy, won’t the authorities investigate?"

"They absolutely need to investigate! My third uncle got tangled in this, it’s too deceitful!" Someone from the crowd shouted. Qian nodded approvingly.

"Yes, this person gets it. Everyone needs to keep their eyes open and not be tricked by these people. If this video gets out, and you were just following along, the voice-over could turn into ’recruit one today, recruit one tomorrow.’ These are their slogans!"

Qian’s skill in twisting things around was levels above Wang Xiaohong’s mother. Her arguments, filled with logic and bits of truth, sounded convincing to everyone.

"These people, causing trouble after deceiving so many!"

Qian successfully turned the situation around. Wang Xiaohong’s mother, panicking, tried arguing with everyone, "That’s not true, what she’s saying isn’t true! We’re not a cult; we just want justice!"

"If those scams get investigated later and the video surfaces with you on it, are you all going to be considered accomplices? I’m getting worried too~" Qian mimicked Wang Xiaohong’s mother’s accent with a trembling voice. Mr. Yu was never a match for Qian’s intelligence!

Upon hearing from Qian about this scary possibility of being caught on camera and potentially being punished, the crowd wasn’t having it anymore.

"Beat these damn scammers!"

"Don’t let them scam people here!"

Calls for violence scared Wang Xiaohong’s mother. Whatever she did now, no one would believe her. Qian had her reasons well thought out, and no one doubted what she said.

"Quick, take Dong Yi inside. I’ll keep an eye here," Qian seized the chance to tell Mrs. Yu. Mrs. Yu, although not the first time witnessing Qian handling issues, was equally amazed every time.

Mrs. Yu tried to take Dong Yi inside, while the crowd, already excited, started to grab for the camera equipment. The people Wang Xiaohong’s mother brought along were all over the place like a scattered mob, with no real leader. When the crowd moved to act, they reluctantly joined, confronting the crowd as burly members shouted back. Qian had incited a war.

Mrs. Yu was already at the entrance with Dong Yi when Wang Xiaohong’s mother suddenly lunged, tightly grabbing Dong Yi’s clothes. Dong Yi reacted instinctively to fight back, while Mrs. Yu tried to help, but Wang Xiaohong’s mother seemed fueled with endless fighting spirit, fighting off Mrs. Yu with one hand while scratching Dong Yi with the other. Dong Yi’s face got scratched a bit, but at the same time, Dong Yi had grabbed Wang Xiaohong’s mother’s hair tightly.

The scene was utterly chaotic, and Qian, who had ignited the war, blended in with the riled-up crowd, confronting the Wang Family without swearing but inciting the crowd to act.

The poor cameraman, standing outside the circle, was on the verge of tears, wishing for someone to return his equipment...

Mrs. Yu, though a bit strong as an orthopedic doctor, was no match for Wang Xiaohong’s mother, whose years of farm work had honed her strength greatly. And now, Wang Xiaohong’s mother was unleashing the full force of a brawler’s might with bonus strength, ferociously pushing Mrs. Yu away and landing a hard slap towards Dong Yi!

Dong Yi had already been hit by her once. Another hit like that, and the outcome would be disastrous.

Dong Yi, with both hands grabbing Mrs. Wang’s hair, couldn’t free her hands to defend, nor could she dodge, so she could only watch helplessly as the slap came down.

She could even feel the wind from Mrs. Wang’s menacing slap, the vicious face inches before her.

At this critical moment, just as Mrs. Wang’s hand grazed Dong Yi’s hair, it was grasped barehanded by someone.

Mrs. Wang looked up to see Yu Mingyi, his face full of anger, standing behind her.

Qian, realizing things were going astray, immediately called for reinforcements, feeling as if time moved slowly, but it had only been 5 minutes.

Yu Mingyi had rushed over as fast as he could.

Upon arriving, he saw Dong Yi looking like a frightened rabbit, her eyes filled with terror and helplessness, ready to be harmed.

In that moment, Yu Mingyi’s body reacted faster than his mind did.

He held Mrs. Wang’s hand, preventing her from further bullying Dong Yi, and simultaneously gave Mrs. Wang a strong shove. Such an action was something the polite and restrained Mr. Yu would never do under normal circumstances.

But at that moment, all he saw was the egg in Dong Yi’s hair, the redness on her face, and in her eyes, an indelible vulnerability and helplessness.

That look left a lasting impression on Yu Mingyi.

It also caused some of Yu Mingyi’s previous convictions to change in that moment. The root of all this lay in his unclear stance. Apparently, it was time for change.
