Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 39: Hero Saves Beauty at Midnight

Chapter 39: Hero Saves Beauty at Midnight

Yu Minglang stood by the window, lost in thought.

His mother had just visited, looking distressed, unable to express herself, and left without saying much. Not two hours later, she returned again, discreetly dropping off a pot of some strange-tasting soup she had made.

The soup sat on the windowsill, untouched.

Earlier that morning, Mrs. Yu tried to "accidentally" meet her son’s girlfriend, but missed the chance. Upon reflection, Mrs. Yu felt uneasy.

Additionally, the eldest daughter-in-law reported that the young one had bought a bunch of gifts, but instead of giving them directly to the girl, he had Hai Zhao deliver them on his behalf—despite being the third sister in the Yu Family and a singer, her information network was startlingly efficient, plus, Hai Zhao was a spineless fellow, confessing without any pressure.

All these reports left Mrs. Yu unsettled.

It’s clear her son must be exhausted from work, his health depleted, leading to rejection from his girlfriend, leaving him in a desperate state of affection. This soup was essential for his recovery.

Yu Minglang was unaware of how much his mother had misrepresented him, standing at the window, gazing at the moon.

The moon tonight was truly round; was Qian also watching?

His house was only a half-hour drive from hers.

If space can be changed by movement, then can time be changed as well?

By the time she graduated university, he’d be 28. With so many handsome guys in college, would she even notice him as he approached thirty?

Thinking of so many young eyes, all focused on "his" girl, Yu Minglang felt an indescribable frustration in his heart.

At this moment, he felt he couldn’t wait even a second longer.

He had a crazy thought stuck in his mind, gripping his heart relentlessly.

Yu Minglang grabbed his car keys, unsure of why he was doing this, but he knew if he didn’t see her once before returning to work, he’d feel uneasy.

Even if it meant just standing outside her building without calling her out, just seeing her silhouette under the light, it would be enough.

In front of White Tower Ridge Laundry, several figures lurked suspiciously.

"Fa, is it this place?"

A few men carrying buckets of gasoline, one standing watch, while others looked around.

At this hour, the street was practically deserted, with no streetlights, only the occasional glow from a window of someone still awake and the moonlight illuminating the road.

The man called Fa had his torso exposed, showing off a tacky dragon tattoo on his back. Slightly overweight, he was clearly a local thug.

"This is the place. Pour the gasoline quickly, and when the fire starts, we’ll run, and make sure no one sees us."

"It won’t cause any casualties, right?"

Fa smacked him on the head.

"This is just a two-story building. Once the fire starts, people will run out, so no one will die! The people who paid us said these folks offended someone, so we’re just here to scare them by burning the place. Hurry up!"

The group of thugs started pouring gasoline.

Yu Minglang had walked there, with his car parked on the road at the village entrance.

Driving at night would make a sound, and if she saw it, it wouldn’t be good.

He just wanted to stand outside her building, see her once more, and then return to work peacefully.

Before he got close to Qian’s place, he noticed several shadows moving suspiciously, instantly heightening his vigilance.

After seeing their movements clearly, Yu Minglang narrowed his eyes...

"Hurry up, light it and run—oh damn!" Just as the shirtless dragon tattoo thug started speaking, he felt a sudden blackout, not even understanding what happened as someone karate chopped his neck from behind.

Yu Minglang’s strength was unparalleled, and these thugs were simply no match for him as they were knocked out easily!

Two other henchmen were lighting a fire, with the newspaper already ablaze. Upon hearing a noise, they quickly turned around and saw their leader knocked unconscious, causing them to frantically pull out fruit knives and stab at Yu Minglang from both sides!

Qian stood in the attic, originally stargazing, when she suddenly smelled gasoline and vaguely heard someone shout a command to stab!

She opened the attic window and carefully stepped onto the sloped roof, looking down just in time to see Yu Minglang punch another thug down, with another thug stabbing at him from behind with a knife!

"Watch your back!" She shouted just before Yu Minglang, as if having eyes on the back of his head, kicked back, landing perfectly on the thug’s hand, causing them to drop the knife in pain.

In an instant, three thugs were dealt with, while a burning newspaper landed not far from the gasoline, still smoldering.

This showed how remarkably quick Yu Minglang was.

Upon seeing this, Qian quickly assessed the situation with her sharp mind.

Someone came to cause trouble at her house, but Yu Minglang intervened.

Why was Yu Minglang at her place?

It’s a question worth pondering.

"Call the police." With his cover blown, Yu Minglang had no choice but to suggest it.

Qian’s eyes darted around, seeing the three thugs lying on the ground brought a quick realization to her mind.

Often owing gambling debts, nothing like this had happened in the past.

Thus, these three people were likely sent by Ni Jianren or Li Zhen; if that’s the case...it’s an opportunity!

"Mom, come downstairs! Someone’s trying to set a fire!" Qian shouted aloud, then leaped from the attic’s slope down to the rain-shelter on the first floor, and proceeded to step down the slope to the doorway’s flat surface.

Yu Minglang swore he absolutely did not intend to watch.

He had to seriously clarify a few points.

He hadn’t expected her to come down so quickly and in such a manner.

Yu Minglang’s face instantly flushed as he glanced at the thugs lying on the ground, hearing someone speak from above and instinctively trying to look up.

Quickly reacting, Yu Minglang stomped a thug’s head to the ground, sending them to eat dirt, ensuring Zhou Zhiruo’s irresistible inner beauty wasn’t glimpsed by mere mortals!

Qian had no idea that in a short few seconds, she had been seen utterly clearly by the marksman brother.

The gasoline smell and thugs on the ground sparked extreme inspiration within Qian.

The door was about 2 meters high, with a 1-meter-long and half-meter-wide shelf on top. Currently standing on it, Qian didn’t hesitate to jump down.

Seeing her actions, Yu Minglang instinctively rushed forward, arms outstretched, catching her perfectly.

"Why are you jumping with an injured foot!"

Holding her soft and fragrant body in his arms, with the girl wearing only thin nightwear, Yu Minglang ignored the wonderful feeling, immediately reprimanding her.

If he hadn’t caught her, she definitely would’ve gotten hurt from the fall. Despite the not-so-high door, her movement was evidently untrained and improper.
