Chapter 372 - 346: Twins (Dragon and Phoenix)
Chapter 372 - 346: Twins (Dragon and Phoenix)
Yu Minglang casually flipped through the gifts, complaining unhappily.
"I shouldn’t have scheduled the engagement on my birthday. Why is there something for me in here? I don’t need it. It would be better to buy more practical things for my Qian. Look at my Qian, dressed so plainly, still needing to take a cab when walking..."
Mr. Yu’s mouth twitched as he listened.
"Enough, stop pretending to be poor. Here, take this."
Mr. Yu pulled out a set of car keys from his pocket. Mr. Yu was still staring dazedly out the window. Mr. Yu nudged him. Mr. Yu reflexively pulled out something from his pocket, leaving Yu Minglang speechless.
"Second brother, you’re trying to fob us off with a rubber ducky?"
Second brother finally came back to his senses, looked at the small duck in his hand, calmly put it back in his pocket, and pulled out a bank card from another pocket.
"The duck isn’t for you; it’s for Panpan."
His son had been crying at the hospital. He wanted to bring a toy from home to comfort him, so after finishing up here, he planned to visit.
"Second brother, are you sure... a child of Panpan’s age would like this?!" Qian, although she hadn’t raised kids in years, still had that basic common sense.
This ducky is presumably meant for bathing babies a few months old, isn’t it?
"He wouldn’t like it? Then what would he like?"
Second brother didn’t know how to raise children. His son would always fly over to him with joy whenever he saw him, just like Dong Yi — why did he think of her again?
In truth, it was because Dong Yi made raising the child too easy for him. Second brother had been too carefree, and now that he had angered her away, he couldn’t understand how to look after his child, handing him a little toy ducky... Qian felt sorry for poor Panpan.
"You ask me what your own son likes? There are people who know, but you drove them away. Last night Dong Yi slept at my place, with a bit of a fever, yet she still struggled to help me find playing cards."
"She’s sick? What happened?" Second brother did notice that Dong Yi looked a bit flushed.
"Nothing serious, just a cold from the wind, nothing to worry about. Someone is taking care of her — my brother has his eyes on her. I think if she can’t be my sister-in-law, she could still be my sister-in-law on another side."
"Nonsense! How old is your brother?" Mr. Yu became instantly displeased.
"Why are you shouting at my Qian? You don’t want her, yet you won’t let anyone else have her? You think the age difference is inappropriate, while my brother-in-law doesn’t. It’s just a five-year difference, while you’re ten years apart from her!"
Yu Minglang immediately stood up to back up Qian. Mr. Yu’s face turned green, and pointing at Yu Minglang, he seemed to want to say something but angrily dropped his hand and turned, leaving with a sullen face.
He almost bumped into the Yu Family’s third daughter, Yu Mingxi, who had just walked in.
"How low must his intelligence be to believe the nonsense you two are spouting?" Mr. Yu muttered to himself.
Qian’s brother looked just like a kid; anyone with half a brain could tell that Qian was deliberately provoking Mr. Yu.
Mr. Yu, usually so clever, ended up getting worked up by something so blatantly unsubtle.
"People’s intelligence becomes negative when they’re extremely angry or extremely happy. Second brother got upset out of concern." Qian defended her apprentice, feeling happy and relaxed, waving to the newly arrived Yu Mingxi.
"Is everyone here? Hi! The little girl who wants to treat my illness, you’re here too." Yu Mingxi waved at Qian.
Seeing her return as if nothing had happened, Yu Minglang sprinted over for her collar with a step.
"You crazy Yu Laomao! You dare to come back!"
"This is my home, why wouldn’t I dare to come back? Yu Laomao, take your claws off my noble collar. Just try touching me!" Yu Mingxi raised her head.
Yu Minglang held up his fist, aiming at that punchable face, but couldn’t bring himself to land it.
"Go on, hit me; punch me in the face. If you don’t, you’re a coward. Just try touching me."
The siblings, who crawled out from the same womb, seemed ready to come to blows.
Mr. Yu couldn’t take it anymore.
"Stop it! All of you, always so reckless, just knowing how to fight among yourselves!"
The big brother still held some authority. Yu Minglang withdrew his hand but threatened Mr. Yu’s nose with his finger, and Mr. Yu was not to be outdone, making a face at Yu Laomao!
"Third, why are you always targeting Qian today? Don’t you know how many people are watching our family now?" Mr. Yu brought out his authority as the eldest.
Mr. Yu acted as if he hadn’t heard, sprawling on the sofa. Yu Minglang felt infuriated by her unrepentant attitude and reached out to grab her, and the siblings tangled again.
"If you don’t stop, you’ll all be thrown out!" Mr. Yu slammed the sofa, and the twins simultaneously turned their heads, huffing in unison.
Qian watched Yu Minglang interact with his sister the whole time, becoming more certain of the way she handled issues today.
"What sinister plots are you hatching, little girl?" Yu Mingxi turned to ask Qian. Yu Minglang seemed about to retort when Qian quickly grabbed an apple from the table and stuffed it into his mouth, signaling him not to cause trouble.
"It’s not that I can’t fight you. If it came to pulling hair and scratching faces, I could do it too. You’re a big star who doesn’t care about your image; I, a commoner, couldn’t care less either."
Qian started talking, and Yu Minglang choked on the apple.
"Cough, cough! Qian, why are you fighting with her!" This was too terrifying; he needed to isolate his future wife from Yu Sanfeng.
The goddess Mei, who always crushed others with her IQ, suddenly talking about pulling hair and scratching faces was unforgivable — Yu Sanfeng must have been a bad influence!
"She started planning to scratch me first."
Mr. Yu massaged his temples. "Qian, big brother thinks you’re quite smart in this family, with decent emotional intelligence too. You can’t behave like this..."
If Qian also started acting like this bunch of idiots, Mr. Yu would feel like Mr. Yu, devoid of any hope for life. There were no normal people in this home anymore.
"Big brother, don’t worry. I mean, I’ve kept my cool. I’ve decided to adopt a different approach to Miss Sanfeng."
"Tsk tsk, Sanfeng is what you call her? I haven’t acknowledged you as my sister-in-law yet."
Yu Minglang immediately rolled up his sleeves.
"Yu Sanfeng, don’t show off. My Mei calling you that is out of courtesy. Be careful not to get struck by lightning while pretending!"
"You, a man who’s been chasing a woman for half a year without getting her into bed, have no right to talk to me!"
"And you, an old woman of your age with no suitors, have no right to talk about my Mei!"
Mr. Yu’s head began to throb again. This pair of idiots just couldn’t get along. Weren’t they adults yet, still bickering like children? It was so difficult being the head of the family...
"As twins, arguing over an outsider woman, you two have really achieved something."
The one speaking was, surprisingly, Qian herself.
Yu Minglang and Yu Mingxi both fell silent at once, turning to look at Qian, while Xiaoqiang looked aggrieved, and Yu Mingxi seemed surprised.
"Mei, I’m speaking up for you..."
