Chapter 302 - 280: Major Misunderstanding
Chapter 302 - 280: Major Misunderstanding
Qian felt she was reaching a new height of embarrassment and roared out in frustration.
"Yu Minglang, my period just started, and it’s all over your hand now. I need to go home and change immediately, or everyone will see your girlfriend’s leakage during her period. You think that’s something to be proud of?!"
Ah, finally shouting it out felt so satisfying.
She could never forget Yu Minglang’s expression when he heard her roar; Yu Minglang was dumbfounded.
Neither the bad people nor the villagers in the mountain village had made Qian wish the ground would swallow her up like she did now.
This is so, so humiliating!!
Yu Minglang went from astonishment to awkwardness before ending up in a staredown with Qian.
A minute later, Yu Minglang, who had "escaped" from the hospital, took Qian and dashed out of the hospital, stopping first at a supermarket and then heading into a mall.
Half an hour later, an embarrassed Qian, now in fresh clothes, and Yu Minglang, trying hard to act natural but still obviously awkward, walked out of the mall hand-in-hand.
"Is it okay for you to sneak out like this?" Qian asked Yu Minglang.
Yu Minglang shook his head, "It’s not a big deal. My mom was just being overly dramatic, insisting I be admitted for observation when she simply didn’t want me taking IVs at home."
"You should hurry back; injured people should be recovering properly."
"I need to go home to tell my mom I’m safe. Tell her I’m out traveling with your family. She must be worried sick not hearing from me for so many days." Qian felt satisfied with Yu Minglang’s approach.
Her mother wouldn’t be any help, especially considering how menopausal women love to overthink things. If Qian’s bizarre kidnapping experience were to be shared, Jia Xiufang would enliven it with her lifetime of melodrama-watching experiences. Qian knew Jia Xiufang well enough to suspect she might worry herself sick.
Unlike Yu Minglang’s family, Jia Xiufang’s perception still stays on a conventional level. The best way not to stress her out is simply not to inform her.
Yu Minglang wasn’t willing to let Qian go home; he wanted her to stay with him.
However, Qian’s reasoning was sound, and he could only painfully send her back.
The taxi arrived at Qian’s doorstep, and as she was about to get off, Yu Minglang reached out to hold her wrist, not saying a word, nor allowing her to leave, just gazing at her with a profound look.
"What’s wrong?" Qian asked him.
"..."
Seeing he was not planning to speak and clearly wouldn’t let her go without guessing correctly, Qian suddenly had a moment of clarity.
She reached into his pocket and pulled out her bracelet, carefully putting it back on her wrist.
"I won’t take it off anymore, ever again."
Yu Minglang released her wrist only then to let her get off the taxi. After she got out, she didn’t immediately close the car door but leaned in to give him a kiss on the lips.
"I’ll settle things at home and then come find you."
"Once everything’s done, give me a call. I’ll have Mr. Yu come pick you up."
Poor Mr. Yu had become Qian’s personal driver, earning not a penny and even spending quite a bit on gifts for Qian.
Why?
Mrs. Yu had exploded.
When Yu Minglang returned to the hospital, he saw his mom standing next to his hospital bed, holding a small drill used for bone-setting, looking rather terrifying.
She radiated murderous intent!
Yu Minglang sensed something was wrong, "Mom, I just went out for a while, I was dropping off Qian."
There was a panic akin to being caught skipping school as a child.
Unlike Mr. Yu, who is adept at roaring in the house, Qi Jiao didn’t lash out at her sons just because they annoyed her. Her singular skill was to hit Mr. Yu, yet the Yu Family’s children still remained apprehensive about her. If you provoke the old woman, the old man would go for a wrestling match, and that old man’s hits were painful.
"Yu Laomao! What have you done?" Mrs. Yu gripped her small electric drill, looking heartbrokenly at her scoundrel son.
"I sent Qian off, what else could I have done—Hey, Mom, what are you doing!"
Yu Minglang narrowly dodged the small electric drill thrown by his mom but still hadn’t figured out what was going on by the time his mom furiously spoke.
"After what happened to Qian, how could you touch her?"
Upon hearing this, Yu Minglang thought his mom was referring to him spanking Qian’s little bottom. Did Qian call the old lady to complain? No, Qian isn’t like that.
"I didn’t mean it, my emotions got a little out of control. I wanted to see if she was in pain, if she was, I’d be relieved."
Yu Minglang meant, he needed Qian to remember this episode and never scare him like that again. Another incident like this, and his heart might jump out of his chest.
But Mrs. Yu interpreted it differently.
She had just come in to bring soup for her son, only to find that her son and Qian were gone, leaving the bed in a mess. Mrs. Yu lifted the covers, finding a bloodstain.
Yu Minglang’s injury wouldn’t bleed, so what was this?
Mrs. Yu immediately called in the young nurse from the room to question her. Initially, the nurse stuttered, unwilling to speak, but after Mrs. Yu pulled out her authoritative stance demanding honesty, she finally relented.
She saw Yu Minglang just moments ago, holding Qian, pinning her on the bed, kissing her.
Mrs. Yu then interpreted it as Yu Minglang had done the deed with Qian.
She was ready with her bone-setting tools waiting there, and Yu Minglang unwittingly "admitted" it!
"You’re quite something, Yu Laomao! Who instilled such unacceptable thoughts into you? Does your relationship with her pale in comparison to your doubts? Can you not show a bit of understanding for Qian, who hardly escaped, and yet you act so inhumanely!"
"Mom, this isn’t a small matter; I can’t just let her off."
If he didn’t teach her a lesson, what if she took another black car and got sold?
But Mrs. Yu heard him as saying that Yu Minglang considered a woman’s chastity incredibly important, and mere testimony was unreliable; he had to personally verify if that membrane was still intact.
As a result, he exhausted her...and thus sent her home, attempting to shift the evidence!
Otherwise, why couldn’t he wait for Mr. Yu to pick her up, instead rushing to take a cab to send her back? It was just moments away? And furthermore, this "stain" on the bed was evidence!
What Mrs. Yu thought and what Yu Minglang thought were completely different, leading to a confrontation.
Seeing Yu Minglang’s utterly unrepentant and righteous expression, Mrs. Yu finally reached her breaking point, delivering a slap across his face.
Since joining the workforce, Yu Minglang hadn’t been hit by his mom. He thought she was angry about him spanking Qian’s bottom, knowing the women in his family are staunch feminists, he didn’t dare continue, lest the beating escalates.
However —
"Smack!" After slapping him on one side, Mrs. Yu went for the other, leaving Yu Minglang innocently baffled.
"Yu Laomao, I warn you, I despise men who blame women’s misfortune on them. As her closest person, you harbor dubious suspicions towards her and even commit such subhuman acts, in a hospital bed, no less? What do you take young women for? Our family doesn’t support this type of promiscuous child. You must either apologize to Qian and be responsible, or get out, our family doesn’t want you! I don’t have a son like you!"
