Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 229: Xiaoqiang’s Mischief

Chapter 229: Xiaoqiang’s Mischief

No matter how furious his dad was, Yu Minglang grabbed the keys and dashed outside.

"Youngest, have some late-night snacks before you go." Mrs. Yu came over with a tray.

Yu Minglang looked and saw shrimp and winter melon porridge along with meat skewers?

"Mom, where’s the lunchbox? I’ll take it to go."

"Alright, wait a moment."

Five minutes later, Mr. Yu, having just tidied up the chessboard, sat cross-legged on the Luohan bed, fuming. When he saw his wife bringing the tray in, hoping to eat something to cool down, he got even angrier seeing the food.

"Where’s my meat? Just a bowl of winter melon porridge?"

"Your son took it away."

"That little brat! How outrageous, couldn’t even leave me a shrimp!" Mr. Yu huffed, eyes wide with anger.

Yu Minglang not only took the whole plate of meat skewers but also scooped the shrimp out of the winter melon porridge, leaving only winter melon behind.

"Eat less at night, otherwise your digestion will suffer—why are you glaring, youngest is like a bandit, just like you, you old scoundrel!"

"...Next time he comes back, I swear I’ll deal with him, it’s getting out of hand. Tsk, so bland, dear, go fetch me a jar of pickles."

"Can’t be bothered with you."

"Comrade Jiaojiao, obey orders!"

"Getting all worked up, look at you, I’ll get you half a plate of meat I hid away."

Mr. Yu chuckled, "Comrade Jiaojiao still has good awareness."

"Get out of the way, you old man blocking the path!"

Qian sent the text message and waited for over ten minutes without a reply from Yu Minglang.

She didn’t mind, opened the wardrobe, and started looking for pajamas.

"Let’s see if my judgment about Yu Xiaoqiang is correct. Personality determines fate."

She picked the prettiest pajamas, changed into them, grabbed a book and leaned against the headboard to read, when a few minutes later, there was a knock on her window.

Opening the window, Yu Minglang stood on the rain platform, raising the food box in his hand.

"Late-night delivery, please sign for it."

Qian stepped aside, Yu Minglang leaped inside, while Qian leaned out the window, looking around to see if anyone noticed.

Yu Minglang wrapped his arms around her from behind.

"I scouted in advance, nobody saw, don’t worry."

"Hmm, very good. Now that the delivery’s done, you can leave."

"Ungrateful little thing, I parked the car by the roadside and ran all the way here, don’t you want to reward me?"

Climbing windows can become an addictive habit.

Qian pulled over the only chair, and they sat side by side on her narrow bed, starting to snack.

Chen Zilong got up to use the bathroom downstairs, and when he passed by Qian’s room, he sniffed the air.

"Smells so good..." Was he half-asleep, or why did it smell so fragrant?

His brother’s voice came clearly through the door; Qian gestured to Yu Minglang to stay quiet.

"Mom, I’m hungry, is there anything to eat at home?" Chen Zilong ran over to knock on Jia Xiufang’s door.

"There are steamed buns in the cabinet, find them yourself." Jia Xiufang’s sleepy voice came through.

Yu Minglang gestured with the delicious food he brought, silently asking if he should give some to the rascal.

Qian mouthed "no," thinking this rascal was disturbing their mother late at night, better let him starve, so his mind isn’t all fatty without intelligence.

Chen Zilong had finished in the bathroom, biting on a steamed bun and holding a scallion in one hand.

"I don’t know if it’s an illusion, but I think I smell fried meat, Mom, can you make fried meat tomorrow?" Chen Zilong ran to his mother’s door to request again.

Qian couldn’t stand it anymore, went out the door, and kicked Chen Zilong’s behind.

"Chen Zilong, late at night, don’t be obtrusive. Can you let Mom sleep peacefully? Keep buzzing, and I’ll fry you into meat!"

Chen Zilong was afraid of his sister, biting his bun and slinking back to his room, mumbling with a bite of scallion.

"I really smelled fried meat, and when my sister came out, the scent became stronger..."

Qian returned to the bedroom; Yu Minglang sat on her bed, laughing hard enough to hide his eyes, "Hogging the food?"

He whispered.

Qian snorted, "If you’re so concerned, go feed him, but watch out my mom doesn’t chase you out with a broom!"

Yu Minglang stuffed a piece of meat skewer into her mouth, "I care about you, look at you, so skinny like a monkey, no meat at all."

Only he thought Qian was getting skinny; Chen Zilong and Jia Xiufang both thought Qian had gained quite a bit in the past six months.

How could she not gain weight when having midnight snacks? At school, Yu Minglang remote-controlled his mom to send her food from afar. Now at home, he’s delivering food directly, no wonder she’s getting chubby.

"I’m thirsty, going downstairs to get water." Qian prepared to get up, but Yu Minglang held her.

"I’ll go."

If someone is diligent, Qian is willing to be lazy, leaning on the bed wiping her hands with a tissue, waiting, but Yu Minglang still hadn’t returned, so she went out to check.

Walking to the stairs, she heard someone pattering up. The stair light was broken, just seeing a silhouette.

She whispered, "Why are you so slow?"

"Huh? Hehe, I remembered there’s a salted duck egg in the cabinet, sis, do you want to eat?" Chen Zilong held a salted duck egg in one hand and a flashlight in another, turning it on mischievously to illuminate his face, trying to create a scary atmosphere upon hearing Qian’s voice.

"Ah!!!" Qian screamed in fright.

"Sis, since when have you become such a coward? Scared already?" Chen Zilong often played this awful prank on Qian.

The stair light had been broken for quite a while, never repaired, so the family either went around in the dark or brought a flashlight when getting up at night. Chen Zilong loved to scare Qian, although he hadn’t succeeded yet.

Qian covered her mouth; her heart was still pounding.

Not because the rascal scared her, but because behind the rascal was Yu Minglang!

Yu Minglang was mischievous, following right behind Chen Zilong, yet Chen Zilong hadn’t noticed a thing.

When the flashlight illuminated Chen Zilong’s face, it also lit up Yu Minglang’s tall figure behind him, looking like a ghostly shadow; even if Qian was brave, she was startled.

Yu Minglang, the big bad guy, seeing Qian scream, even stuck his tongue out at her!

"Sis, what’s wrong?" Chen Zilong had never received such a focused "gaze" from his sister.

"Nothing, hurry up and go indoors!" Qian worried Chen Zilong might turn his head; Yu Minglang was now just two steps behind him. So strange, yet Chen Zilong couldn’t see him.

Such a big living person right behind, yet Chen Zilong couldn’t see, hard to say if Yu Minglang possessed sniper-like disguise infiltration skills or if Chen Zilong was too dull.

"Oh, alright." Chen Zilong slowly ascended, and Qian watched him with Minglang mirroring his steps, perfectly silent.

Qian’s heart jumped to her throat, praying Chen Zilong wouldn’t turn around, wishing he’d quickly climb up...

As Chen Zilong reached Qian’s side, he suddenly turned, and Qian yelled again.

"Ah!"
