"Brother-in-law, Sister-in-law, what brings you here today?" Jia Xiufang saw their demeanor and sensed something was off.

"Xiufang, the old lady’s stayed with you long enough according to our agreement, now it’s our turn to take her back. Go on, go upstairs and bring her down." The second aunt waved her hand, and the second uncle along with the two cousins were about to go upstairs.

Qian blocked the stairway with her body.

"What do you think you’re doing? My grandma stayed at my place for six months without you visiting, and now you’re here, and I’m telling you, it’s too late!"

"Chen Xiaoqian, it’s not your place to speak. You’re just a little girl and a female at that, so stay out of it." The second aunt was determined that even if she had to resort to force, she would take the old lady back home today.

By now, she wasn’t just an annoying old lady. She was money, a house!

"Second Aunt, from what you’re saying, you’re not a woman? Otherwise, why can’t I say a word while you keep blabbering on?"

Qian retorted sharply.

"You little brat! Think you’re tough, huh? Get out of my way, or else—"

"Or else what? Try hitting me!" Qian tilted her head, pointing at the father-son trio trying to take away her grandma.

"Look at you people, every one of you is so well-fed, yet your conscience is rotten. My grandma lived with us for six months, did you visit even once? She got sick, and my mom, a single woman, took her back and forth. Did you help financially or physically?"

Qian’s words left the second uncle’s family embarrassed, especially the two cousins, who as young people cared about face, unlike the second uncle and second aunt who seemed shameless. The two cousins were visibly uncomfortable.

"That’s your mom being stupid. Did I ask her to take in the old lady? I’m blaming her for not taking good care. The old lady never got sick in my house like she has with you!"

The second aunt twisted the facts, leaving Jia Xiufang’s lips trembling with anger.

"You’re lying! It was your family who kicked the old woman out initially; you wouldn’t even care when she had accidents in bed and said you didn’t want her. That’s why I took her in!"

What does it mean to be shameless? Just look at the second aunt. She spouts her own truths, turning lies into reality.

"I don’t want to argue with you. Hurry up, we’re taking the old lady with us!"

Now all she could see was dollar signs in her eyes.

The second uncle’s house still hadn’t signed the papers because the title was in the deceased old man’s name. They said the authorization was needed from the old lady for them to withdraw the money.

There was a compensation payout scheduled for this afternoon, and the second uncle’s family was anxious to collect the money. The old lady’s documents were at their house, but the relocation office said she had to be there in person or provide authorization.

They planned to take her by force if necessary.

Qian arrived just in time, making it difficult for the second aunt to take the old lady away.

"What do you take my house for? You drive her out when she does you no good, and now you want her back when she benefits you? No way!"

Qian stood firm, blocking the way upstairs as the second uncle stepped forward to glare at her. Qian refused to back down, meeting his gaze.

"What, you want to get physical with me? Try touching a single hair on my head!"

"Let’s see who dares to touch my daughter!" Jia Xiufang, seeing her brother looking aggressive, feared Qian might suffer and sided with her against the second uncle.

Seeing that Qian and her mom were hard to deal with, the second aunt shouted with all her might, "You two shameless women, no wonder your husband left you, Jia Xiufang! Going against your brother for property? Aren’t you afraid of getting struck by lightning? You, a man-less woman, could drop dead any day!"

Hearing such despicable words, Jia Xiufang was furious, but Qian gently patted her mom on the shoulder, calmly advising her.

"Mom, anger is bad for your health; why bother with this person? She’s just a shrew. Do you want to become like her, a shrew too? You don’t have her heartlessness; you could never be like that. If someone is truly shameless, even the heavens can’t do anything about it. You’re talking sense to her—are you silly? She’s shameless; will she understand? Just stay away from her so you’re not hit by lightning when it eventually strikes her."

"Chen Xiaoqian! What nonsense are you spewing!" The second aunt was furious.

Qian extended her middle finger at her, "You can’t live without principles like this. Only coming to me when you’re out of dog food? What have you been doing all this time? If you had visited her just once during her stay and brought even those one-dollar apples, I wouldn’t stop you now!"

"Well said!" Jia Xiufang loved Qian even more, as she was so good at arguing at critical moments.

"You shameless ones, a dumped woman and her brat going at us—you should at least—ah!"

Before the second aunt could finish, she felt something hit the back of her head. Turning around, she saw Chen Zilong holding a chopping axe, and he had just thrown a piece of wood at the back of her head.

"What are you doing! Bullying us because we don’t have a man in the house? I’m telling you, curse my mom or sister again, and I’ll fight you to the end!"

Chen Zilong had heard the commotion as soon as he returned home. Listening to his mom and sister being humiliated made his youthful, impassioned blood boil. He grabbed the axe from the yard and dashed in.

"Wow, bringing out the little punk? Your family really is out of men!" The second aunt wasn’t scared of Chen Zilong, thinking he was just a kid.

Chen Zilong rushed forward, standing between his mom and sister, holding the axe with a look of righteous bravery.

"I’m warning you, don’t bully us just because we have no man in the house! Who do you think you are, using your size to bully my mom and sister?"

He said it with such flair, he turned to Qian for approval, "Sis, was that good?"

Qian pushed him, reminding him to focus on the fight seriously!

Chen Zilong turned back again, and the older cousin from the second aunt’s side grabbed his arm, easily snatching the axe away. The other cousin saw this and slapped Zilong, leaving him seeing stars and forcing him to step back. Both Qian and Jia Xiufang were furious at seeing him get hit.

Qian was the first to charge forward, kicking the second cousin, "You hit my brother; he’s just a child, and you dared hit him!"

The second cousin tried to push Qian away, but Jia Xiufang pulled his hair, while Qian bit his hand. Despite having been slapped and having a bloody nose, Chen Zilong got up, shoving the older cousin, and the second uncle joined the fight. The second aunt also joined in, resulting in a chaotic struggle.

Outnumbered, with three burly opponents, Qian’s side had only the rebellious Zilong, who was still a minor. The trio quickly found themselves at a disadvantage.

Qian was pushed back onto the stairs by the second aunt, Jia Xiufang entangled with her brother, her face scratched in several places and her hair messy, while Zilong fared the worst, pinned and beaten by the two robust cousins.

"You hit him once, and I’ll make sure you pay tenfold in the future!"
