Chapter 162: Setting a Date (Lost Bet + Extra)

"Is your soup ready?" Zheng Xu asked Yu Minglang.

"Hold on, I’m going to get the salt. You’ll soon taste the world’s best soup!" Yu Minglang got up to fetch something from the trunk.

Zheng Xu turned around and seriously asked Chen Xiaoqian who was nibbling on a can.

"Chen Xiaoqian, what do you actually see in him?"

Qian paused with the spoon in her hand, "I don’t know, it’s just a feeling, can’t really explain."

"Really... not considering anyone else?"

Qian gazed at Yu Minglang’s back and shook her head while holding the spoon.

"As long as he’s alive, I won’t consider switching to someone else. I’m either single or with him. Zheng Xu, why don’t you just kill him off."

Zheng Xu laughed, "If I did kill him, you’d definitely go all out against me."

Qian chuckled, both of them being smart. Seeing that smile, Zheng Xu understood.

This smile was something he couldn’t give her.

"Let’s schedule a time back home."

"Schedule a time for what?" Yu Minglang peeked from behind, always ready, observing the situation!

"I recalled something from when I was 14. Perhaps it could help with my condition."

Qian was overjoyed, "Really?!"

She could hardly believe it; the problem she struggled to solve in her previous life seemed to have a breakthrough!

"Yes, it’s only my fault, arriving too late." Zheng Xu glanced at Qian, then at Yu Minglang who was watching intently from behind.

Zheng Xu wasn’t the type to shamelessly intrude; he couldn’t match Yu Minglang’s thick skin, and most importantly, he couldn’t bring himself to hurt her radiant smile.

If Minglang weren’t by her side, he’d rather feign illness for a lifetime to keep her, not believing he wouldn’t warm her eventually.

But the beauty already has someone in her heart, intruding wouldn’t be good for either of them.

This lifetime, Zheng Xu didn’t spend much time with Qian. Though he liked her, it wasn’t like the obsession of his past life. In the past life, Zheng Xu was really a ’patient’ for a lifetime because of Qian. But this time, Qian returned just as she met Yu Minglang, and everything was different.

"Zheng Xu, don’t worry, I will surely cure you!" Qian was excited upon hearing he recalled, eager for her first successful case in this life.

"Once you’re better, we’ll be lifelong friends, haha..." If given a choice, he’d rather be a ’patient’ for life.

"What did you say?" Qian was still immersed in excitement, but Yu Minglang understood Zheng Xu’s silent lip service.

Minglang squinted his sharp eyes; it seemed Zheng Xu had come to terms?

Within a short time, what caused such a change, Minglang didn’t know.

But he knew his number one alarm, for now, could be dismissed.

He personally scooped a bowl of soup and handed it to Zheng Xu, "Buddy, sorry for any offense earlier, I hope you’ll forgive."

Minglang spoke without any sincerity.

"No fight, no acquaintance," Zheng Xu replied just as perfunctorily, lifting his bowl to compare with Yu Minglang, substituting soup for wine.

Zheng Xu watched Qian’s relaxed face, feeling a mix of loss and relief.

As long as she’s happy, that’s what he thought for now.

"Mr. Yu, if you dare make her cry, I’ll kill you."

"Come on, as long as she doesn’t make me cry, I’m lucky. Right, Qian?"

Qian stuffed half of a chicken leg into Minglang’s mouth, "You can’t even shut your mouth while eating!"

"See, she’s usually this violent with me; how can I possibly bully her?" Minglang spread his hands.

"Being subjected to her violence proves you still have value; otherwise, what good are you? She lacks nothing, and if you can’t even make her happy, retire gracefully; there’s plenty willing to step up."

After Zheng Xu spoke, he watched Minglang and Qian laugh together. He looked between Minglang and Qian, puzzled.

What are these two laughing about?

Not until Qian had laughed enough did she pat Yu Minglang, "See, I said he’s my spiritual twin. Do you believe me now?"

Indeed, the logic was so akin to Qian.

Minglang laughed as he served soup to Zheng Xu, speaking with deep meaning.

"This doctor position, it stops with me, definitely no substitute opportunities, ever."

Stopping with him? Qian looked at Minglang, the smile at her lips deepening, this guy really was confident.

But if he weren’t confident, would he still be Yu Minglang? Would he still have the charisma that attracted her?

Zheng Xu left after eating.

Qian and Minglang lingered for a while longer, until they returned to the city as night approached, still reluctant to part, though mainly Minglang was unwilling.

Qian initially planned to show Zheng Xu, but Minglang looked at her pitifully, saying he finally had some vacation, so Qian relented.

If she returned home in his pants, Mrs. Jia Xiufang would beat her to death with a broom.

So he took her to the boutique shop, pointing out the trousers he wanted to buy yesterday and asking for a receipt, which Qian stopped him from doing.

"I guessed right after all," she shook her head at him.

"What did you guess?" Minglang asked.

"You have at least three identical pairs of those pants and shoes, don’t you?"

How stubborn can a person be?

No wonder he chose one woman across two lifetimes, it’s a personality flaw.

"Not as exaggerated as you say. Most pants are two identical pairs, shoes have more of the same style."

If she hadn’t mentioned it, he wouldn’t have noticed this detail; indeed, Minglang was practical when buying clothes, if he liked something, he directly got two identical pieces for rotation.

"Don’t get those, switch to this dress." Qian took the identical pants from his hand, and Minglang saw her picked a green dress, his eyes lit up, and he followed suit with a pair of pants in the same color, love for matching outfits was truly addictive.

While he was changing, Qian quickly ran to the underwear counter across the store, selecting several styles she fancied.

"What size, miss?"

Qian gestured a size with her hand, remembering it seemed this big in her past life, utterly unaware of the indescribable look from the sales assistant. After paying, the assistant couldn’t hold back her thoughts and whispered to Qian.

"Sis, you must be really blessed..."

Qian almost dropped the bag in her hand.

Minglang went to pay, and Qian handed the box to the clothes shop assistant, "When he returns, tell him this is the complimentary gift from shopping, got it?"

She wasn’t familiar with him to that extent yet, it’d be awkward if he knew she bought it.

Qian couldn’t stand him dressed in flashy outer clothes when they went out, yet wearing the rustic Baiyi big shorts underneath.

As expected, when Minglang heard it was a gift, he didn’t react much, just took it without looking inside.

That box with Qian’s lovingly chosen premium underwear ended up with Yu Minglang’s discarded clothes, tossed in the car neglected. Qian, clever as she was, failed to realize this time she’d been effectively tricked by the sales assistant.
