Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 125: Qian’s Lessons

Chapter 125: Qian’s Lessons

Although Yu Minglang didn’t say how beautiful Qian’s singing was, judging by his action of replaying it five times, it’s clear he really likes it.

He’s decided to put her song in his car playlist and listen to it while driving to refresh himself.

On the first couple of listens, Yu Minglang didn’t notice anything unusual. By the third time, thanks to his keen observation skills, he finally picked up on the secret message hidden in Qian’s last line.

Yu Minglang doesn’t understand Korean. When he initially heard Qian’s last line, it sounded like Korean, but upon closer listening, she was unmistakably using Chinese with a rolled tongue to say to someone in the audience, "Screw you~"

Yu Minglang didn’t know who was sitting in that spot, but it could be confirmed that someone had annoyed her.

The more he thought about it, the more amused he felt.

Normally, she seems so reserved, yet once provoked, she dares to swear in front of thousands, and in such a clever way too, it’s really cute.

Yu Minglang was contemplating asking his second brother to buy some throat lozenges for Qian when an employee hurried toward him.

"General Manager, you have a call."

"Qiao Zhen, after you finish watching, put the machine away," Yu Minglang said to Qiao Zhen.

"Okay."

While Yu Minglang went to answer the phone, Qiao Zhen watched the girls writhing on screen, more accurately, he was staring at his goofy little sister.

"This girl can really roll..."

Yu Minglang didn’t expect it to be Qian who called him directly.

"Have you eaten?"

Her voice was slightly hoarse, possibly from shouting too much earlier.

"I have. How about you?" Hearing her voice made Yu Minglang’s heart happy.

"I ate a little bit casually."

"Is there something you need my help with?" Yu Minglang noted that she usually cuts calls short whenever he calls, and she doesn’t write back when he asks, generally acting like a little rebellious girl.

The more she acted this way, the more Yu Minglang contemplated her, thinking about what she ate, whether she slept, and what she was doing.

"Can’t I call you if there’s nothing important? Then I’ll hang up." Qian pretended to hang up.

Yu Minglang quickly interjected, "Wait, let’s chat a bit!"

Qian understood men’s psychology too well; Yu Minglang, even if he was impressive, was a man with zero romantic experience. She knew how to keep him on his toes, and a sudden call like this really made Yu Minglang extremely happy — so much he chatted for ten minutes contentedly.

After ending the call, Yu Minglang couldn’t remember much of what was discussed; he just felt an indescribable happiness that reflected in his warmer treatment of employees.

Shi Yu, with a more lively personality, made friends quickly once school started. Xu Ruxin came by to hang out, and Shi Yu handed Qian a platter of fruit, and Qian grabbed a bunch of grapes.

"My brother said he misses you so much it’s like ants in his pants. Why don’t you call him often?"

Whenever Qian has anything going on with Yu Minglang, Shi Yu is the first to update her brother.

"See this bunch of grapes?" Qian picked off a purple one and put the rest back.

Shi Yu looked left and right, puzzled, and handed the fruit platter to Dong Yi, who was reading a book on the bunk.

"Frosh, what does she mean?"

Dong Yi put down the book, glanced at the half-green half-purple bunch of grapes, "The forced-ripe grapes don’t taste good."

Qian nodded, content that while she seemed to enjoy herself, it’s Yu Minglang who enjoyed the chase.

That guy is still young; he needs to experience the delight of longing for a woman, Qian thought mischievously. She wasn’t going to deprive Yu Minglang of the joys of romance.

She sat back down to continue reading her original text, while Shi Yu was left bewildered.

"You psychology students communicate so cryptically."

"Love is a game. Whoever takes the initiative in the beginning becomes passive later. The one who falls first is the one who suffers, heard of it?" Qian explained to Shi Yu.

"What if I don’t call, and he doesn’t call me either?" Xu Ruxin, who was lounging on Shi Yu’s bed eating fruit, spoke up upon hearing this.

Xu Ruxin was currently in a passionate romance. Her dorm phone was practically half occupied by her daily calls with her boyfriend. When her phone card ran out, she’d come to borrow Shi Yu’s.

Shi Yu didn’t mind these details, being financially well-off; Xu Ruxin borrowed, she gave. Qian thought that with such naive trust, it wouldn’t be surprising if Shi Yu had been misled in a past life.

"Men evolved from primitive hunter packs; their behaviors are ingrained in the collective memory. They instinctively observe their target and research ways to capture them. Men have a conquering nature; it’s instinctual. If a woman responds positively to their advances, they quickly feel subdued, losing interest. Without novelty, the primitive urge deteriorates, and the woman becomes passive in the relationship."

Qian’s words elicited various reactions among the three girls in the dorm.

Shi Yu appeared contemplative, Dong Yi began searching for books. Qian had recommended several psychology-related references to her; she opened one and found the segment Qian mentioned, prompting Dong Yi to start studying it.

To fellow psychology students, Chen Xiaoqian was practically a walking library. Dong Yi’s study efficiency soared when following her lead.

Xu Ruxin seemed slightly dissatisfied with Qian’s words; she thought Qian was suggesting she was too proactive. Rising to leave, she couldn’t resist snagging a big bunch of grapes from Shi Yu, muttering under her breath as she walked out.

"Why overthink everything? Even making a friend requires strategy, isn’t that exhausting?"

With Xu Ruxin gone, Shi Yu turned to Qian.

"Qian, do you think she’s upset? She always initiates calls to her boyfriend; seems like you’re poking her predicament."

Qian simply curled her lips slightly and continued flipping through her original book; unless the naive girl experiences some setbacks, she wouldn’t learn the lesson, so she refrained, watching this naive girl make random friendships.

"People who don’t consider the long-term suffer short-term troubles; even primitive instincts like love have corresponding psychological analyses. Otherwise, how could some swindlers maintain relationships with over a dozen women simultaneously?"

If you put emotion into it while the other party uses logic, who’s at a disadvantage?

Young girls in love are often overly sentimental and spontaneous, giving rise to countless forms of love.

"Qian, in the early stages of love, men actively contact women to test them; how should women respond?" Dong Yi couldn’t find the answer in books and asked Qian.

"Out of ten advances, respond six or seven times. Don’t respond every time. Once novelty is lost, men lose interest in pursuing the woman. Early stages require this strategy. Once the relationship progresses, this method won’t suffice. After graduation, you’ll likely receive plenty of relationship consultations. Different stages call for different advice."

Dong Yi understood Qian better than Shi Yu, knowing when to speak and when to remain silent. Such a demeanor was very fitting for a future psychologist.

"Hey, future psychologists, if a guy doesn’t actively contact a woman, what does that imply?" Shi Yu pondered; if she doesn’t call, her goofy brother wouldn’t call either.

"If he doesn’t actively contact you after just meeting, perhaps he’s uninterested, and you can filter these guys out. Even if you pursue them, they won’t see you as a prized catch. While their love status may elevate them, yours will reduce you to a supporting role. Another possibility is the guy being shy and scared of rejection — quietly observing just to gain control. This warrants further observation, but if he does not contact you after knowing for a while..."

Qian shook her head, and Shi Yu sat up.
