Chapter 106: (300+ Monthly Tickets)

Yu Minglang was intrigued when he heard she had something to say to him.

Qian was the first to sit on the long bench in the lakeside pavilion while Yu Minglang stood, waiting for her to speak.

Could she be wanting to express some feelings about their impending separation? He braced himself, planning to discreetly hold her hand when no one was watching once she was done...

"How’s the investigation going?" Qian crossed her legs and put one hand in her pocket, asking like a boss chatting with a subordinate.

"What investigation?"

"Zheng Xu when he was 14."

Splash, a bucket of water doused all of Yu Minglang’s pleasant thoughts.

"We hardly have time alone, and you just have to bring him up?"

Qian pushed her glasses up.

"As a man who can be used by a woman, you should be grateful you still have some value. At least over 90% of men are useless to me, and being in the 10% I can use shows you’re quite outstanding."

This girl was formidable, give her a bit of sunshine, and she’d climb all over him with this arrogant little attitude!

Yet, Yu Minglang had to admit she knew how to tread the line in his heart. Even if she stepped on him a few times, he found it quite pleasing. Isn’t this why men like bad girls? The virtuous ones are too lacking in challenge.

"If you were really useless, why would I want you around? Hmm?"

The last sound she made grazed his heart further, and Yu Minglang actually wanted to say he was capable of doing so much more, like... ah-hem!

Qian caught onto his little thoughts, this guy, she had been contemplating whether to take him on. Now that he presented himself, she had to seize the opportunity to establish her position.

"Spill it. After that, dinner with your comrades." A slap followed by a comforting gesture.

Sure enough, Yu Minglang was pacified. Dining together equaled acknowledging his boyfriend status, which he could accept.

"Nothing too significant happened. However, that year, my second brother graduated from high school and got into flight school, becoming the pride of our compound. Zheng Xu is a few years younger and was nagged at home to follow my brother’s example. Do you think he could have been jealous of my brother, twisting his personality?"

Qian was amused.

"How could that be?"

Though others didn’t know Zheng Xu well, she realized he was a true tough guy.

As her mental twin, Qian would never feel jealousy. If someone was better than her, she would find ways to surpass them. And so long as she desired something, she would strive to obtain it.

Zheng Xu evidently didn’t apply to flight school, clearly not wanting to be a pilot. How could he have been jealous of Mr. Yu?

Not to mention, Mr. Yu of the Yu family was also a character. His later achievements without family support proved him a formidable figure as well.

From what Qian encountered in her past life, not many Yu Family members were easy to deal with.

"You seem to know a lot about Zheng Xu." Yu Minglang said, dripping with jealousy.

"A fake lollipop hasn’t made your mouth sweet yet? If you keep being sour, I’m going to sauté some cabbage with you, my old vinegar." Qian glared at him, "Continue, is there any other useful information aside from that?"

"That year, he had quite a few girlfriends and got caught by the dean making out on the school rooftop, almost getting expelled. Lifestyle issues are his major flaw; when I was his age, at most I fought a bit, nowhere near as bad as him." It was satisfying to step on a rival.

"...You guys are two peas in a pod, both troublemakers." Fighting wasn’t much better than flirting, was it? Qian looked Yu Minglang up and down, finding it hard to believe.

"Did you really mix with the rough crowd?" She hadn’t known this in her past life.

"Who hasn’t had a wild, youthful moment? Fighting and womanizing are absolutely two different concepts. A man who can’t keep his desires in check can’t manage his life." Yu Minglang declared righteously.

"From a psychological perspective, a man excessively picky can usually be one of three types: he could think too highly of himself, he might have mental or physical clean freak tendencies, or it could be an inferiority complex at play. Obviously, you’re not the first or third type. I suspect you have a severe mental cleanliness issue. Yu Minglang, did anyone give you a gender-based shock during your development?"

Qian had been pondering over him for a while, analyzing for leisure.

Analyzing the fact that he waited for her past forty without marrying, in ordinary terms this is called being devoted, but from a psychological viewpoint, being fixated on a person or thing for too long must point to some level of cleanliness fits or obsession.

Initially, she presumed Yu Minglang was an egotistical man who couldn’t see anyone except himself worthy. However, after interacting a few times, he did have a slight showy tendency, yet that alone couldn’t sustain a lifetime without marriage only to seek her.

So it must be the second; he has mental cleanliness tendencies. Apart from the woman he acknowledges, he finds average women revolting. Of course, for a woman, finding such a partner is stress-free but the issue is, don’t break this cleanliness, once his bottom line is crossed, the longest love can turn to hate matching that intensity.

Messing with such a character gave Qian a headache, which explains why psychologists struggle finding partners—they know too much.

Yu Minglang had his headache too, how did he end up choosing such an unadorable girl?

"From now on, let’s set three rules: don’t apply your theories on me." Being dissected like this felt like standing unclothed.

"I can’t control my tongue~" Qian deliberately slurred.

"Straighten your tongue and speak properly!" Now, Yu Minglang could only gain some verbal advantage, unsure how to deal with her otherwise.

"My profession is half my life. Ah, I love analyzing a few pretentious men my profession so much!" Qian straightened her tongue, provoking him all the same.

"You analyze Zheng Xu, don’t analyze me!"

"Hmm, my initial conclusion is he definitely went through something significant at age 14. Rule out what you said and keep digging."

"I’m too busy with training, who has time to poke into an ugly cucumber’s past misdeeds?"

"Hmm, you stay busy then. The busier you are, the more I’ll meet him. You know, a doctor can’t abandon a treatment mid-course. Since you’re unwilling to sacrifice for my career, I’ll have to investigate myself."

Yu Minglang resigned, "I’ll go back and keep checking."

Seeing Yu Minglang’s excessively quiet expression did not evoke sympathy from her; she wanted to laugh instead, restraining it while heading back. As they approached a corner in front of the dormitory, Qian suddenly called Yu Minglang.

"Do you know there’s a legend about where you’re standing now?"

"Did someone hang themselves, or jump off?" Yu Minglang had figured out her tactics now.

Then, a fragrant, soft little mouth suddenly landed on his without warning.
