Return of The Alpha Heiress

Chapter 88: Richard – Attacking the Vampires

Chapter 88: Richard – Attacking the Vampires

Inside the large meeting room, Larry was explaining the results of his tracking. But I could not focus on his words at all, because the table where his hands rested was the exact place where Clarissa and I had, well... done that.

"Should I widen the search area, Commander Black?" Larry suddenly asked.

I cleared my throat and spoke seriously. "Repeat your tracking conclusion."

From the corner of my eye, I could see someone casting a judging look at Clarissa.

Larry did not complain and answered right away. "The Witch left no traces at all. Their scent disappeared completely, and even Alpha Green’s scent is gone. So far, we haven’t found any clues."

The kidnapping of Alpha Green had already been discussed in a previous meeting. Clarissa knew about it, but from the beginning, she had shown no reaction.

Even if she reacted, she might feel relieved. After all, the man who hurt her had been kidnapped.

"For now, expand the search area and add more members under your command," I said. "I’ll contact the enforcers in the capital to take over this case. Once they arrive, you can return to following me."

Larry nodded.

I then turned to Noah, and he immediately gave his report. "We managed to follow the vampires’ trail to their base. It turns out there’s a cave behind the Eternal Waterfall. That’s where they’re hiding."

"But we haven’t confirmed the exact number of vampires inside yet. For now, I’ve left several enforcers there to observe. They’ll report if the vampires make any moves."

I nodded. "Good work. Tomorrow morning, we’ll mobilize all enforcers, alphas, and warriors to attack them. Tonight, prepare everything."

"Yes, Commander," Noah replied.

But then he hesitated and spoke again. "I feel that the trail the vampires left is too obvious. It’s like they’re deliberately leading us to attack them, while they prepare a trap."

Noah’s concern made sense. The vampire attacks on Frost Pack had been going on for a while. At the beginning, Alpha Frost had also sent his warriors to track the vampires, but it was extremely difficult to find them.

It was strange that Noah could locate their base in just a few hours. Noah was an experienced enforcer, but even so, this was unusually fast.

"We can still prepare tonight," Clarissa suddenly spoke. "As for whether we attack tomorrow or not, we can decide after observing their movements for a few days."

"All right. We’ll do that," I nodded. Not because I was biased, but because her suggestion was the most reasonable option right now.

...

That night, enforcers, warriors, and alphas gathered in the main hall. I had to make sure everyone was wearing their protective gear properly.

Besides the shifting clothes made with aether technology, there were also masks made from aether that could protect against vampire blood.

"This mask adjusts to a werewolf’s mouth before and after shifting," Noah explained. "It makes sure that vampire blood won’t be swallowed when biting them. Oh, and these Ae-devices were also made by WitchAe."

That company was truly advanced. They could even create Ae-devices specifically for enforcers.

Usually, devices like these were made only by royal companies approved by the royal family.

But even the royal family would not refuse to provide these masks to enforcers, considering how useful they were.

Since long ago, many warriors and enforcers had died from vampire blood poisoning. With these masks, such deaths could be completely prevented. They would no longer hesitate to attack vampires with full strength.

After checking their equipment, I also explained the overall plan for the upcoming attack.

They needed to know their positions during the assault. If, in the next few days, the information we gathered was sufficient, the attack could be launched immediately.

"Commander, this is bad!" Noah suddenly shouted in the middle of the meeting.

"Speak!" I ordered.

"The enforcers observing the vampires reported that all of them are on the move. They’re bringing all the kidnapped werewolves and driving them toward the border," he explained quickly.

The meeting room instantly fell into an uproar. This development was completely unexpected.

"Could their attack this afternoon, when they usually attack at night, be because they planned to leave tonight?" Alpha Blooms spoke up.

His guess was correct. That explained the strange feeling earlier. They were likely in a hurry, which was why their trail was easier to find.

As for why they were in such a rush, I didn’t know. But one thing was certain. There was no time left to wait.

I stood up from my seat. "Let’s move! Take your positions!"

"Yes, Commander!" The meeting room echoed with fiery shouts.

I glanced at Clarissa, who looked calm. She was assigned to lead the medical team, with Rora as her assistant.

I had ordered the medical team to stay behind, hidden as much as possible from those disgusting vampires.

Under the bright moon, as if the Moon Goddess herself was watching over us, all forces shifted and rushed toward the forest.

Noah had found a shortcut to the vampires’ current location. But instead of going there directly, we headed to the area they were expected to pass through.

We waited there, ready to ambush them.

With my sharp senses, I could hear the vampires’ hurried footsteps approaching.

Before they could catch our scent and retreat, I gave the signal. All forces emerged at once and attacked, following the positions we had arranged.

That night became my first real assault, and also the first time the vampires directly targeted me.

I attacked every vampire that stood in my way, crushing them with my claws or tearing them apart with my sharp fangs.

There were some casualties, but our numbers were more than twice theirs, quickly overwhelming the vampires.

Some were reduced to shapeless remains. Some died instantly. Others who survived were swiftly subdued.

In truth, the strongest among the vampires was only The Sire himself. Ordinary vampires could be killed easily.

That was exactly why The Sire kept trying to increase his numbers. He knew they could not win without overwhelming force.

I approached one vampire with red eyes. He looked different from the others, stronger.

He sneered at me. "Why not let me bring your kind who have become vampires to meet His Majesty, The Sire? At least they would stay alive if they received His Majesty’s blood."
