Chapter 1146 - 31: Other Helpers

Chapter 1146 - 31: Other Helpers

After just some initial testing, Netero agreed to let Su Xiao join the Ant King Hunting Team. Uncle Mo standing by said nothing, and oddly enough, the usually cautious Nob also kept quiet.

"Chairman, if that’s the case, the Ant King Hunting Team has reached five members. Isn’t that number a bit high?"

Upon hearing Nob’s words, Su Xiao raised an eyebrow. The number was more than he had imagined. The five people mentioned were not the total number of those hunting the Mosaic ants but the number fighting against the Ant King.

According to the original storyline, Chairman Netero was supposed to fight the Ant King alone, but now it has turned into five against the King.

Besides Netero and Su Xiao, who are the other three? That is quite intriguing, as those three are faster than Su Xiao in action.

"Don’t worry, five people have a greater chance of winning."

Netero chuckled lightly. Although Netero was already 110 years old, he was not serious or rigid. On the contrary, he was a lively and humorous old man who still liked challenges at his age.

In terms of individual power, even the V5 Organization has to fear Netero, which is why the Hunter Association has so many privileges.

"Uncle Mo, Nob, take the people near the East Guotuo Royal Capital for reconnaissance. When the time is right, consider attacking the capital. The Ant King Hunting Team has already gathered five people, and I have other matters to handle."

"Yes, Chairman."

"Leave it to us. If we don’t receive a signal, we’ll determine the timing ourselves."

"Okay."

Netero watched as Uncle Mo and Nob left, and the Hunter Association’s other personnel were still near the capital.

"You came here specifically to find allies?"

Su Xiao suddenly felt that the reason he met Netero and others here was that they were walking around near the capital, seeking someone or waiting for someone to come to them.

"That’s right, it was a suggestion from a member of the hunting team. Things went as he predicted, and there are indeed many ’like-minded’ people near the capital."

Netero signaled Su Xiao to follow him. Su Xiao hesitated for a moment and then chose to follow. Not long after, Bubu Wang and A Mu, who were waiting nearby, came to join Su Xiao.

"Are these other allies?"

Netero looked at Bubu Wang and A Mu with interest.

"You can see us three as a small team."

"Really? Then there’s no problem."

Netero gently stroked his beard, not delving into the origins of Bubu Wang and A Mu.

Netero led Su Xiao to a small town near the East Guotuo Royal Capital. When Su Xiao entered the town, he suddenly felt a sense of time reversing a few hundred years.

The ground of the town was paved with stone tablets. Due to the lack of maintenance over a long period, the stones had become uneven underfoot, and stepping on them might cause mud to spray from the gaps.

The buildings in the town were mostly two-story structures, primarily made of wood or stone. Concrete buildings were nonexistent, and the shopfronts had singularly colored banners hanging, similar to plaques.

Occasionally, horse-drawn carriages passed by on the street. As for cars, such things were strictly prohibited in the Country of East Guotuo.

It was a country that was deformed but exuded primitive beauty. Visiting here definitely gave the feeling of time reversing several hundred years.

"Such a strange sight can only be seen in the Country of East Guotuo."

Netero had been here once, thirty years ago, and now, nothing seemed to have changed except the buildings along the street becoming a bit more worn.

"By the way, I still don’t know what you’re called?"

Netero faced away from Su Xiao, his eyes searching the shops along the street.

"Bai Ye."

Su Xiao was enjoying the scenery of the small town, feeling a bit puzzled inside. Surprisingly, this place had not been overtaken by Mosaic ants.

"Bai Ye, quite a suitable alias for killing."

Netero recognized it was a fake name but chose not to investigate further.

After heading to the deeper southern side of the town, they arrived at a hotel. It was the most ’luxurious’ hotel in town, one of the few three-story buildings.

As Su Xiao entered the hotel, a short and stout middle-aged man greeted them. He was the owner, chef, and receptionist, as the establishment was a family-run business.

"Are you two guests foreign travelers?"

The owner approached to get acquainted, as foreign tourists were the biggest economic source in this barren place.

"We have already reserved a room..."

Chairman Netero explained a few things to the hotel owner, who then warmly led them to the third floor.

Walking up the creaky wooden stairs, Su Xiao gained a new understanding of the poverty level in the Country of East Guotuo. If it wasn’t due to the Hunter Association’s lack of funding, it would indicate that this was truly the most luxurious hotel in this small town.

In front of a room on the inner side of the third floor, the lock was rusted shut, paint peeling off in large patches from the door, and wisps of smoke wafted gently from the deformed door frame.

As the hotel owner pushed open the door, a wave of thick smoke rushed to hit him, causing him to tilt his head back and cough repeatedly.

Inside the room was like an ’Immortal Realm,’ with thick smoke billowing. Three figures were faintly visible within the smoke.

"Smokey ghost, if you weren’t a Contractor, you surely wouldn’t live past 60."

A female voice came from within the smoke.

"Who said I wasn’t a Contractor."

This time, it was a somewhat hoarse but vibrant male voice.

"Chen, you should say something; this old smoker is getting more outrageous."

The female voice carried a provocative tone.

"If you don’t want to wait here, you can leave. No one is forcing you."

"Hey, aren’t you being too arrogant?"

The female voice began to turn icy.

"I’m not arrogant; at least I don’t provoke others actively nor am I drawing attention deliberately."

"Serves you right, your adventure group died out."

"You... say that again... previously."

The last male voice was calm, completely devoid of fluctuations—no anger, no threat, not even arrogance, just peace, as silent as death.

"Can’t you two get along? One likes to provoke, and the other makes people want to kill within three sentences. Chen, being sharp-tongued to your level is quite a talent. The brotherhood’s deceased leader was burdened, or you could say it’s due to the stimuli of later life."

Old Smoker came to mediate the situation, judging by the voice; it’s evident this person was not young.

"I’m not sharp-tongued; people are hypocritical. Speaking the truth makes people angry, like you hypocritically standing to mediate. In truth, your desire is to kill the others in the room."

"Stop, if you keep talking, I won’t be able to resist killing you."

"If you have that ability, you would not care about my thoughts. Based on combat strength comparison, you likely couldn’t accomplish that."

"You... sigh~."

Old Smoker seemed to take a puff of smoke to calm down and then fell silent.

"Everyone, we’re about to fight side by side, so there’s no need to provoke internal conflicts."

Netero spoke from the doorway, choosing not to enter. The smoke inside the room was just too thick.

"Whoa... whoa, such heavy smoke, it’s on fire! Somebody, put it out!!"

A loud shout came from the street below.
