Chapter 1241 1241: Sovereign Spar [Bonus 13]
Chapter 1241 1241: Sovereign Spar [Bonus 13]
Prime World Aidos was once a planet with 10 continents across its surface, but during the Great Valmone War, 7 were destroyed, and the pieces that weren't vaporised or dragged beneath the oceans became the thousands of islands scattered across its oceans.
Many of those islands were completely uninhabited, while others were monster territories that no nation laid claim to.
Today, the 28th of January, one of those islands had been chosen as the site of a battle between two Superior Sovereigns.
When Leoniel reached the island, he couldn't sense Evan's presence at all.
He did pick up Eliza's, so he headed toward her, finding her seated on a rock by the beach, and as he drew closer, he asked, "Where's Evan?"
Eliza didn't respond verbally and only lifted a hand to point toward the sky, an action that made Leoniel raise an eyebrow.
"Above?"
He looked up, still sensing nothing, but in the next moment, a massive hole tore through the clouds, and his eyes widened.
The sonic boom hit his ears a second later, and he immediately crossed both arms in front of his face.
At the same time, Eliza's shadow expanded, wrapped around her body, and teleported her away from the area.
The moment she vanished, there was a flash of light as Evan's fists slammed into Leoniel's crossed arms.
The impact rang out like thunder, and the once calm beach was utterly destroyed by the shockwaves, sections of the island breaking apart and dropping into the ocean below.
As the dust cleared, Leoniel's unscathed figure was revealed, with his arms still crossed, Evan's fist pressed against them.
Cracks spread across the layer of stone covering both of Leoniel's arms and through the stone layered over the ground beneath his feet, which was the only reason the earth under him hadn't completely given way from the blow.
"Already using your full strength from the start?" Leoniel asked.
Evan scoffed. "You wish."
He pulled his fist back and vanished, reappearing beside Leoniel as his leg whipped toward Leoniel's head.
Leoniel ducked under the kick, his right arm slicing through the air toward Evan's left leg that was planted on the ground, but before he could reach it, Evan unfurled his wings and beat them hard, lifting himself upward and leaving Leoniel's hand to pass through empty air.
He flipped in the air and fired another kick to Leoniel's head, but the man, already expecting it, caught Evan's leg with both hands and immediately spun him, flinging his body in the direction of the ocean.
Evan spun through the air and landed on the ocean, and immediately his Mystic Eyes glowed, and the crashing waves of water became waves of ice that surged towards what was left of the beach, forcing Leoniel to back away to avoid being frozen solid.
Seeing the incoming waves of ice, Leoniel stomped his foot, and from the ruined outskirts of the island around him, thousands of earth pillars burst upward, merging into a single massive wave of earth that crashed into the advancing ice.
The two forces shattered and cracked against each other at the collision point before grinding to a halt.
Watching this, Leoniel thought, 'Our speed and force were equal.'
He leapt to the top of the earthen wave and walked forward casually as he said, "Ice, huh? And here I thought fire was supposed to be your forte. To think you could wield elements of opposing natures."
Evan, floating up into the air with his wings spread behind him, replied casually.
"Yeah, fire's my forte, but it's not every time I need to burn things down, you know?"
Ice flakes gathered around his fingertips as he continued, "And besides, fire and ice are far from the only elements I can use."
The clouds darkened instantly, and Evan raised his hand toward Leoniel and snapped his fingers.
"Blue Judgment."
Before the sound of his words even reached Leoniel, a bolt of blue lightning fell from the sky, descending toward him. However, the earth beneath Leoniel rose and enclosed him in a dome that blocked the strike.
Lightning crackled across the dome's surface, ran through the earthen wave beneath his feet, and dispersed into the ground and surrounding sea.
Leoniel, dismissing the earthen dome, raised an eyebrow at Evan.
"Really? Lightning?"
Evan shrugged with a laugh. "I was just trying out a skill I haven't used in a while. I know lightning's the worst element to use against you."
From Leoniel's title of 'Stone Protector', it was obvious what his strongest elemental affinity was. Lightning attacks were near useless against him since he could simply redirect them to the ground, and even if he was in the air with no ground beneath him, he could simply draw on ambient law energy to generate earth.
Evan using Blue Judgement against Leoniel was honestly a waste of magic power, but compared to Evan's Transcendent-level reserves, it was barely a drop in the bucket he didn't mind wasting.
"Also, that wasn't just me testing out a skill," Evan added. "Your attention shifted to the lightning for a moment, didn't it?"
The moment Evan spoke, a vast shadow fell over Leoniel, and the man turned around to see a gigantic knight-shaped construct of near-transparent ice holding a massive long sword up.
"Well, I'll be damned," Leoniel cursed.
The knight immediately brought the blade down with both hands, piercing through the earthen wave Leoniel stood on, and the solid wave instantly collapsed with a violent explosion, breaking apart sections of Evan's ice with it.
Evan snapped a finger, causing the shattered ice to spiral upward before morphing into projectiles, and with another snap, he sent them flying toward Leoniel, who had, in the moment the frozen blade fell, dashed off the solid earth wave with pure speed.
"Oh, you noticed?" Leoniel said with a light laugh as he landed at the edge of the beach, stepping back and lightly tapping his heel against the ground.
Chunks of earth rose and spun in a circle behind him, glowing as ambient law energy flowed into them.
He lifted his hand, grabbed the spinning ring, and hurled it forward like a discus.
It spun through the air, splitting through the icy projectiles Evan sent towards him, before returning to his hand like a boomerang. He caught it, replenished the law energy infused into it, then threw it again towards Evan.
Evan ignored the incoming ring, retracting his wings before using Blink to teleport diagonally behind Leoniel, throwing out a back kick toward his side.
Leoniel turned quickly and raised his right arm to block, but the impact sent him sliding back several meters.
Evan planted his right foot on the ground to regain his balance and dashed towards Leoniel, pulling his arm back and muttering lightly, "Six Skill Strike."
Power gathered in his fist, and seeing this, Leoniel, who was about to cross his arms to block, sensed something different.
'Oh, this one's dangerous.'
"Bulwark!"
He activated a skill, summoning an ash-grey wall of universal law energy in front of his crossed arms a second before Evan's punch landed.
What followed was a bright flash and a burst of law energy as the bulwark shattered, and the force of the explosion sent Leoniel's body flying backwards.
He took advantage of it to create distance, flipping and landing on his feet before looking up. "Wait, was that temporal law energy?"
Evan's Six Skill Strike was made up of the Electroflame, Fracture, Adamantine Might, Pierce Guard, Permeating Wave, and Time Bomb skills.
The last one was something he'd mimicked from Beatrix during his misadventures 10,000 years in the past.
Due to his current level, the skill inevitably drew in ambient universal law energy, and Leoniel had sensed the temporal energy within it, surprised that Evan could also wield that kind of power.
"Don't look so worried. That's just the default feature of the skill. I've got a terrible affinity for temporal arts," Evan said while calmly walking forward, each step freezing the ground around him.
"Is that so?"
Leoniel crouched and pressed his hand to the earth, sending spiked pillars erupting toward Evan.
Evan extended his right hand, an ice sword appearing with a chink, and swung it, releasing an aura slash that cleaved the first wave apart. He raised the blade high as golden energy erupted from it and brought it down in another slash aimed at Leoniel.
