Chapter 1026 279: Decisive Battle on the Snowfield, Kael Who Weaves Death, the Restless Domain (10K)_5

Elf Ranger/Dwarf: Lord, the times have changed!

Ranger: Lord, the times haven't changed!

In the front row, the Rangers began a frenzied barrage. Within a second or two, the area was filled with wailing.

The Arcane Heavy Machine Gun, which usually requires installation on a war chariot for stable firing, had now become a large toy for single-handed shooting after the Gluttonous Slimes enhanced the Rangers' arm muscles.

To the Rangers, this was a righteous way to unload their magazines, but to the Ice Knights and the Snow Wolves beneath them, the sound of gunfire was like the Scythe of the Death God.

Every second, an Ice Knight's armor was blasted apart, their moans echoing as they fell from their wolves. For those stronger Ice Knights who could temporarily shield themselves with spells and Divine Arts, the Rangers directly targeted their Snow Wolves.

Blood from humans and wolves splattered everywhere, fragments of armor and wolf fur scattered in the air.

Dan Knight led the charge, ready to initiate a counterattack, when he suddenly furrowed his brow.

He realized that the surviving Ice Knights, who had evaded the first two rounds of attacks, should have known they were within Ranger attack range. They could have slightly avoided direct confrontation and devised another plan.

At least this way, there would be a greater chance to delay time, creating a window for the petitioner's army to attack the Lord.

However, despite knowing the superior option, the Commander of the Ice Knights fearlessly led his subordinates into a charge, even using some slain Ice Knights as meat shields to further close in on the Rangers.

With such tactics, if the Rangers manage to pull off another round or two, all their men would perish—this isn't how you send people to their deaths.

And let's not forget that the young War Mages among the Rangers hadn't even used their accumulated magic yet.

"Evade first, kite them, don't engage directly to prevent a trap!"

Dan shouted loudly, and the Rangers around him furrowed their brows, then turned and repositioned themselves. Just before colliding with the Ice Knights, they swiftly changed positions.

As both sides were about to collide head-on, they suddenly maneuvered apart, and the Rangers behind them launched Short Spears. As the Ice Shields on the Ice Knights flickered to block the Spears and were forced to retreat, the teams had already crossed paths.

As Dan led the Rangers, throwing Short Spears imbued with Blood Flames and sweeping bullets in a storm, the Ice Knights were forced to distance themselves again.

Dan's brows furrowed deeply.

He knew these Church lackeys were fervently devout to their god, willing to sacrifice their lives, but not everyone shared such resolve.

These Ice Knights were utterly insane, desperately creating chances to approach the Rangers!

Despite having so many choices, they chose the worst possible one.

Dan wouldn't consider them fools, but rather suspects a trick.

Even though he's unsure where the problem lies, he chooses to have the Rangers switch places intermittently for fire suppression.

Following their Commander's orders, the Rangers fired their Arcane Heavy Machine Guns to the point the barrels were scorching hot, unconcerned about ammunition, engaging in a strategic retreat while shooting.

The Ice Knights seemed crazed, even in the impossibility of advancing, not retreating but instead falling dead on the charge route.

Everyone's brows furrowed, gazing at the snowy field littered with corpses, not a single living Ice Knight remaining.

"How strange..."

Dan murmured.

Such a suicidal charge shouldn't happen with these people.

Generally, in real warfare, as soon as casualty rates exceed a fifth, troops will scatter; over a third, and they flee desperately.

Yet, in this battle, the Ice Knights' behavior was exceedingly abnormal, almost as if frantically seeking death.

This condition doesn't resemble a battle-hardened force nor a mindless group of petitioners, but rather...

"Like a pack of mind-confused beasts."

Dan spoke coldly.

"Have the War Mages examine these people's anomalies and prepare for protection in case they carry peculiar pollution forces."

The adjutant beside him also frowned deeply.

This situation was truly anomalous, leaving them unclear about what these guys were up to.

"Let me do it. My teacher taught me about corpse research and analysis before."

A young man's voice came through.

Dan turned to look and saw it was Anderson, a War Mage with relatively special status.

Having received Kael's recognition and just recently breaking through in various battles, Anderson held some degree of trust from Dan.
