Chapter 191 - 182: Arriving in Japan to Host a Donghua-Style Grand Event (Part 2)

Running on water was something many Saint Experts could do.

However, running on water like this undoubtedly consumed more Physical Ability and was also much slower.

The sea route between Modu and Japan stretched over eight hundred kilometers. If this were on land, Yi Beidou could probably cover the distance in a single day. But out on the ocean, his speed was greatly diminished. It would likely take him at least two to three days.

His current situation was dire: he carried no fresh water or food, and his shirt had been torn to shreds in the earlier fight.

When ordinary people were shipwrecked and cast adrift at sea, their two biggest worries were...

One was fresh water, the other was food.

For Yi Beidou, however, neither of these was an immediate problem.

In terms of water, now that his Demon Body had reached great completion, his physique was immensely powerful. He still couldn’t drink seawater directly, but he could completely seal his pores to lock in his body’s moisture. Lasting two or three days wouldn’t be an issue.

Furthermore, any rain he encountered and fish he caught could replenish some of his hydration. If things got truly desperate, he could even force himself to drink seawater for a short period.

Food was an even simpler matter. If he wished, he could hunt and eat any of the ocean’s creatures at will. There was almost nothing that could threaten him. He could even battle a large killer whale in the water if he so chose.

By his own estimation, even without any food or water, he could run at full tilt across the sea for four to five days straight.

’A pity. At just this level of power, it would still be an extremely difficult feat to cross the entire ocean to the western continent with my physical body alone.’

Yi Beidou was not satisfied with his current state.

If his power were greater, he could manipulate magnetic fields to easily evaporate seawater and obtain fresh water. Or, by releasing his magnetic field, he could influence the weather, achieving the ability to "Call the Wind and Summon the Rain" and drink the downpour. Then he wouldn’t have to worry about fresh water, and crossing the ocean in person would become a real possibility.

’In the end, I’m still too weak.’

As he ran across the surface of the sea, Yi Beidou’s expression suddenly shifted.

He saw a pinprick of light appear on the vast, empty sea in the dead of night.

As he drew closer, the light grew brighter and clearer.

From a distance, its neon lights flickered above countless windows and rooms. It looked like a giant building floating on the ocean.

It was a large cruise ship.

It looked to be on a route from Modu to Japan.

’A cruise ship?’

’Perfect. I can hitch a ride.’

Yi Beidou thought.

The cruise ship would have supplies, so he wouldn’t have to brave the elements. Besides, he’d never been on a cruise before. This could be a novel experience.

He traveled the world not just to become a tribulation incarnate and weigh the world’s masters, but also to take in its many different sights.

With this in mind, he no longer hesitated and ran quickly toward the cruise ship.

「At the same time.」

Aboard the Sea Light Wheel.

In a luxurious suite, eight young people—five men and three women—were holding a small party.

They were all children of wealthy Modu families; otherwise, they couldn’t possibly have booked such a large suite on the cruise ship.

A cruise ship was the kind of place that put class divisions on full display.

The cheapest tickets only got you a sunless interior cabin, where you’d have to use the ordinary, free buffet along with several thousand other tourists. This meant fighting for food with hordes of fiercely competitive seniors. If you weren’t careful, you might even go hungry.

During peak tourist season, a ticket for such a cabin wasn’t a pleasure trip—it was an ordeal.

But with enough money, you could afford a room with a balcony to feel the sea breeze, dine at the more exclusive and less crowded VIP restaurants, and lazily savor the true beauty of travel.

In the suite, seven of the youths were drinking and laughing, chatting about all sorts of amusing things. The atmosphere was very congenial, but one person seemed a bit out of place.

He was a refined-looking young man, currently on the balcony fiddling with a professional video camera, apparently trying to film the night seascape.

"Haochuan, stop filming and come have a drink."

"Yeah, seriously. Filming the sea during the day makes sense, but what’s there to shoot at night? The water is so dark and gloomy, it gives me the creeps just looking at it."

"Don’t tell me you’re actually trying to film a legendary sea monster, are you?"

"..."

The conversation shifted, and suddenly everyone’s attention was on the young man. They called out to him with teasing smiles.

"You guys don’t get it," Qian Haochuan replied with a laugh. "This depth and mystery is also part of the sea’s allure. I’ll get some footage to use as material later. Besides, who knows? Maybe I really will capture a ghost or a sea monster. Then I’ll scare the daylights out of you."

"Tch. Whatever, suit yourself."

The others couldn’t help but scoff, but they didn’t say anything more.

After all, they were all counting on Qian Haochuan’s photography skills to get some decent photos and videos for their social media later.

What was the point of a trip if you didn’t post about it? It would be like wearing a fine suit in the dark.

Just then, however, Qian Haochuan looked at his camera’s screen, and the smile on his face suddenly froze.

He could clearly see it: the camera had captured a human-shaped shadow moving rapidly across the surface of the sea, heading toward the cruise ship.

"Fuck!"

He couldn’t help but curse. His scalp tingled as he quickly leaned out to look at the sea with his own eyes.

But whether because of the dim light or the rolling waves, he saw nothing.

He readjusted the camera and saw that the figure was still there on the screen.

’A human figure... running on the surface of the sea? And it can only be seen through the camera?!’

"What’s wrong?"

His sudden outburst drew everyone’s attention, and they asked in confusion.

"I think... I actually filmed a sea monster?!" Qian Haochuan said with difficulty.

"What the hell?"

Their interest piqued, everyone immediately got up and crowded around him, quickly noticing the strange image on the camera screen.

"Did you actually film some kind of sea ghost? I swear I don’t see anything out on the water," a girl said, shivering.

"That... That ghostly thing is looking at us!" another girl suddenly exclaimed, pointing at the screen.

Everyone saw the human-shaped shadow turn its head, seeming to look directly in their direction.

For a moment, their scalps prickled and their hearts pounded in their chests.

"There are so many people on this ship; we’re perfectly safe. Are we really going to be scared of a single ghost? Let’s see what this thing is up to."

One of the bolder guys stepped forward, moving the camera to track the shadow.

As they all watched, the shadow approached the cruise ship, leaped onto the deck in a couple of bounds, and then vanished from sight.

"Should we... tell the crew? What if that ghost boarded the ship to hurt people?" one of the girls whispered.

"I think we should," Qian Haochuan said, taking a deep breath. "My camera’s been recording. We can give them the footage and let them handle it."

Everyone nodded in agreement and started heading back inside the suite.

However, just then.

WHOOSH!!

They heard a noise from behind them.

They turned to see blue and white flames suddenly erupt on the balcony. A tall figure strode out of the Demon Flame, appearing before them out of thin air as if he had stepped through space itself.

The sight made everyone’s scalp crawl with fear.

"Since you’ve already spotted me, I might as well ask you for directions. Is this ship headed to Japan?"
