Chapter 111: Soldier Technique: Commanding Nether Soldiers and Celestial Generals (Part 1)

Kyoto. Near Kyoto University, at the Shangqing Research Institute.

Besides being the current Maoshan Celestial Master, Tao Zihong also held the position of a guest professor at Kyoto University. As a result, his research institute had a very deep cooperative relationship with the university.

The main hall of the Shangqing Research Institute.

A white-haired old professor, short in stature but full of vigor, walked into the hall with twelve students.

This was Fan Haoqiang, a professor at Kyoto University who specialized in human biology. A nationally renowned scholar, he had answered the country’s call after the Shangqing Research Institute was founded in recent years. After learning about the incredible nature of Saints, he began to specialize in this field and entered into a deep collaboration with the Shangqing Research Institute.

Unfortunately, Saints were elusive. In all these years, besides Tao Zihong himself, Professor Fan had only met a handful of them.

Now that he had heard the High-level Conference was being held in Kyoto and that Tao Zihong had invited several Saint Experts to visit the institute, he had immediately rushed over from Kyoto University with his students.

"In a moment, I want you to watch, listen, and take notes carefully. An opportunity like this doesn’t come around often. Even if you continue to work in related fields, you might only meet such individuals a few times in your entire life."

Fan Haoqiang said to the group of Kyoto University students behind him as they walked.

The ones he brought with him were all students he held in high regard—the best and brightest from Kyoto University’s human life sciences program. Although many had already begun research related to Saints, they were too new to the field to have ever actually met one in person.

Even Tao Zihong, the institute’s founder, was hard to see. He was often occupied with various affairs or needed to enter secluded meditation, making him inaccessible to ordinary researchers.

"We understand, Professor."

The young Kyoto University scholars all replied, their eyes filled with a mixture of nervousness and anticipation.

They had already started their related research and had access to intelligence and data on these individuals. They were practically non-human. If they hadn’t signed non-disclosure agreements and followed Professor Fan, they would have never imagined such beings existed in the world.

Now that they were about to see one with their own eyes, they couldn’t help but feel excited.

"Supervisor Hu."

Just then, Fan Haoqiang spotted a young man of about thirty emerging from a corner of the hallway with two subordinates. They were heading for the main entrance, and he immediately went to greet them.

"Professor Fan, you’re here."

The young man in the lead greeted Fan Haoqiang with a smile.

This was Hu Yong, one of the people who had accompanied Tao Zihong to Cloud Prison Mountain. He was a direct disciple of Maoshan’s Shangqing tradition and also held the position of a supervisor at the Shangqing Research Institute.

"Have the others arrived?"

Professor Fan asked Hu Yong in a low voice.

"Three have arrived, and one more is on his way. I was just about to go out and welcome him."

Hu Yong said with a smile.

"Which one is it?"

Professor Fan asked.

"The youngest one."

Hu Yong said in a low voice.

Professor Fan understood immediately.

Among the many Saint Experts coming today, he was most interested in this one. A short video clip had caused a huge stir online recently, but that wasn’t the most important reason. This person was currently the youngest Saint in Donghua—and quite possibly the entire world.

The case of such an individual was of immense research value.

"I’ll go with you to welcome him. It’s a good chance to meet him."

Professor Fan said.

"Very well."

Hu Yong didn’t refuse.

So Professor Fan and his dozen or so students followed behind Hu Yong and his two subordinates. The group walked back out of the institute’s main hall to wait outside.

"The youngest one? Who is that?"

A female student with glasses and a very scholarly appearance asked quietly.

She was a graduate student who had recently joined the project and wasn’t yet familiar with everything.

Two male students, who were in the same position, also looked curious.

"Have you seen that video that went viral online? It’s the man from that clip."

Another, slightly older man with glasses whispered.

He was a postdoctoral fellow under Professor Fan and had been conducting research with him for several years, so he was more knowledgeable about these matters.

"Oh, it’s him!"

The Kyoto University scholars couldn’t help but let out a collective gasp, breaking into a flurry of whispers.

Everyone was debating whether the viral video was real or fake, but since they were involved in researching these very individuals, they naturally knew it was authentic.

Just then, an oversized SUV slowly approached the institute from a distance.

"He’s here."

Hu Yong said softly. Everyone immediately tensed up, their expressions turning serious.

The vehicle pulled to a stop, and Hu Yong immediately led the group forward to greet it.

A door opened, and a burly man built like an iron tower stepped out first. His massive frame seemed to momentarily block out the sky, casting a shadow.

From the other side, a tall woman with an extraordinary air stepped out. Her beauty was almost otherworldly.

Finally, a tall young man emerged. His features were sharp as if carved, with wild, unruly brows. His face had a fierce and masculine aura, yet his eyes were as calm as still water, making him utterly unforgettable.

"Mr. Yi, welcome. My master and several other experts are already in the reception room. He specifically ordered me to come and guide you."

Although Hu Yong was considerably older than Yi Beidou, his attitude was extremely respectful and humble.

"Hello. We’ve met before."

Yi Beidou nodded and said. He didn’t put on any airs, casually extending a hand.

"I will never forget what I witnessed at Cloud Prison Mountain."

Hu Yong seemed pleasantly surprised and quickly reached out to give Yi Beidou’s hand a light shake.

"This is Professor Fan Haoqiang from Kyoto University, a renowned scholar in the field of human life sciences. He is currently engaged in a deep collaborative project with our institute."

Hu Yong introduced Professor Fan.

"Hello."

Yi Beidou nodded slightly, also extending his hand.

"I heard that a Saint was visiting the institute, so I brought my students along to broaden their horizons. I hope you don’t mind."

Fan Haoqiang said with a smile as he shook Yi Beidou’s hand.

"It’s no problem. Please take me to see the others."

Yi Beidou said.

"This way, please, sir."

Hu Yong nodded and quickly led the way. The group walked into the hall, surrounding their guest.

The Kyoto University scholars trailing behind exchanged glances.

This man was so young, looking to be about their age. He also seemed quite easy to talk to, not at all like the domineering and tyrannical figure in the video.

On the surface, there was no sign of his extraordinary abilities. He just looked like a handsome young man with a strong, masculine presence.

As they entered the main hall and were about to approach a nearby corridor, Yi Beidou suddenly stopped in his tracks. The others couldn’t help but halt as well.

"Sir?"

Hu Yong asked, a little confused.

"It seems you aren’t the only ones who came to welcome me."

A slight smile appeared on Yi Beidou’s face.

Hearing this, Hu Yong paused for a moment, not quite understanding.

WHOOSH!!

In the next moment, a chilling wind seemed to sweep through the hall. Everyone shivered involuntarily. For some reason, their surroundings started to blur, and the atmosphere in the hall grew dark and chillingly eerie.

CLACK!!

The sound of a footstep echoed from a nearby corridor. In a daze, the group saw a towering figure step out from the shadows.

It stood nearly three meters tall, its entire body covered in jet-black armor, and it held a black halberd in its hand.

The most horrifying part was that there was no human body beneath the armor—only masses of black gas squirming within. From the darkness under the helmet, a pair of crimson eyes, brimming with sinister Evil Qi, stared out.

What had appeared before them was not human at all, but something more akin to the legendary Ghost Soldiers and Generals!
