Reborn with My Genius Husband

Chapter 215: I’m the Best at House Calls

Chapter 215: I’m the Best at House Calls

Listening to them, Wyatt Winslow was at a loss for what to do. He ended up driving to a hotel and booking three rooms.

Holly Winslow gave the room key to Mortimer Quincy, gesturing for him to go to bed first. Then, she followed Wyatt Winslow into his room and asked tentatively in a low voice, "Dad, are you angry?"

Wyatt Winslow glanced at her, took off his glasses, his helplessness mixed with some other emotion. "You’re still young. You don’t understand."

’From an adult’s perspective, the only words that came to mind were ’immature’ and ’disobedient.’

But he didn’t know that Holly Winslow and Mortimer Quincy were not children anymore.

"Dad, I do understand."

Holly Winslow nodded earnestly, sat down beside him, and added, "I know you’re worried I won’t end up with him, worried I won’t have a good life, worried I’ll end up like you."

That last sentence struck a chord with Wyatt Winslow. His divorce was a thorn in his side. He looked at Holly Winslow and grunted in acknowledgment.

Holly Winslow wrapped her arms around his. "Dad, that won’t happen."

She paused for a moment. "Dad, Mortimer Quincy is very capable. He’s a great student, and he’s very good to me. He’s willing to bring me hot water and tutor me."

Seeing that Wyatt Winslow’s expression was still dark, she told a little white lie. "Dad, we haven’t done anything. He’s very proper."

"I only go to his place because I’m tutoring, and sometimes I miss the last bus."

Wyatt Winslow’s expression softened considerably. He pressed his lips together. "We’re going to buy a house tomorrow."

Holly Winslow: "..."

She knew he had some money, and that he was saving it all for her, but it wasn’t a huge amount. Especially now, after expanding the factory, his cash flow would be tight if he used it to buy a house.

She shook her head. "Dad, I don’t want it." Then she added with a mischievous grin, "Dad, I want to buy a house on my own."

"Don’t underestimate your daughter."

Wyatt Winslow pressed his lips together. "It’s all yours anyway."

’The money I earn is all for you.’

He didn’t finish his sentence, but Holly Winslow understood completely, and her eyes stung with tears.

...

「The next day.」

Holly Winslow and Mortimer Quincy went back to the university for classes. Wyatt Winslow went to look at houses near the campus. A place on a good floor cost around a million, while a less desirable one was in the high nine hundred thousands.

In the end, he looked at a place in the Lyrion Community—a three-bedroom, one-living-room apartment on the fifth floor of Building A.

’Holly Winslow could live there even after she got married.’

He paid in full.

The handover would be in a month.

He then tasked the real estate agent with finding a one-month rental. Since he’d just closed on such a big deal, the agent offered him a free rental in the Lyrion Community to use until his new apartment was ready.

At noon, Holly Winslow took Wyatt Winslow out for Branton City’s famous hot pot. She didn’t have classes in the afternoon, so she showed him around Branton City.

Around five or six in the evening, Wyatt Winslow drove her back to the Lyrion Community.

Glancing at the name at the community entrance, Holly Winslow was speechless. "..."

She touched the tip of her nose. "Dad, how did you know Mortimer Quincy’s place was here?"

Wyatt Winslow’s brow furrowed. He pressed his lips into a thin line, a headache coming on.

He said, "The house I bought for you is here."

Holly Winslow asked in surprise, "Dad, you bought a house?"

"Mhm."

Wyatt Winslow paused, then added, "You can’t live in it yet. I rented a place, and it’s all furnished."

"Don’t stay at his place anymore. You two aren’t married yet. If people see you, they’ll gossip."

Holly Winslow nodded obediently. "I know, Dad."

Wyatt Winslow grunted. "Call me if you need anything."

"Okay." Holly Winslow nodded again.

The rental was a small two-bedroom, one-living-room apartment. Everything was provided, and the refrigerator was even stocked full of fruit and vegetables.

Holly Winslow looked at Wyatt Winslow beside her. He was watching her, as if he wanted to know if she liked it.

She said coaxingly, "You’re the best, Dad. The best dad in the whole world, second to none."

Seeing that she liked it, Wyatt Winslow pushed up his glasses. "Mhm."

He had matters to attend to the next day. After dropping Holly Winslow off at the Roland Family’s home, he drove back overnight.

Robin Roland came out of the kitchen with a tray of food and saw Holly Winslow on the sofa. "Young Summers, isn’t your cousin coming today?"

Holly Winslow smiled and joked, "He’s such a tagalong. He’ll be here in a minute."

Robin Roland couldn’t help but chuckle. The next second, there was a knock on the door. It was Mortimer Quincy.

’Speak of the devil.’ Holly Winslow was a little impressed with her own prescience and laughed out loud.

Robin Roland laughed too.

Mortimer Quincy raised an eyebrow. After Robin Roland went back into the kitchen, he leaned down and kissed Holly Winslow, asking in a low, teasing voice, "Honey, what ’bad things’ were you just saying about me?"

"That you’re a tagalong." Holly Winslow stuck her tongue out at him.

...

Back at the Lyrion Community, Mortimer Quincy saw Holly Winslow take out her keys and stop on the third floor. He couldn’t help but tease her, "Honey, don’t be in such a rush to get home. This isn’t our place."

Holly Winslow snorted, unlocked the door, and then shut it right in his face.

Mortimer Quincy: "..."

The door quickly opened again. Holly Winslow shoved a key into his hand and gave him a wink. "Dad said I can’t stay at your place anymore."

Mortimer Quincy: "..."

He reacted in a flash, grabbing the door before it could close again. He then stepped inside. "Doesn’t matter. I can just come to my honey’s place instead."

"I’m an expert at house calls."

Holly Winslow: "..."

’Mortimer! So! Shameless!’

...

The first semester of university. The countdown to final exams had begun: ten days left.

Aside from her tutoring sessions, Holly Winslow spent nearly all her time in the study hall.

Aside from his classes, Mortimer Quincy was always at the construction site. He said the parent company was pushing to get the project done.

They only studied together during the evening self-study sessions.

This afternoon, Holly Winslow didn’t have class, so she went to the study hall. Seats were in high demand near finals, and she had to search from front to back before she found a single empty spot.

’There’ll probably be a spot when Mortimer comes back,’ she thought, so she didn’t rush to save a seat for him.

Halfway through her study session, the guy next to her took out his phone, waved it in her direction for a few seconds, and then stopped.

He was obviously taking a picture.

Holly Winslow obviously noticed, but she ignored it. The guy then passed his phone over to her, displaying a message: "Hey, I’m a junior. Can I get your contact info?"

High school romance was about innocent crushes and being too shy to make a move. University romance required a thick skin; you had to be proactive to get results.

Holly Winslow simply shook her head, refusing.

The guy really did have a thick skin. He pulled his chair a little closer and was about to say something when a hand clamped down on his shoulder. He looked up into another guy’s displeased eyes. "..."

It was Mortimer Quincy.

Mortimer Quincy let him go and held his hand out to Holly Winslow. Smiling, she closed her book, took his hand, and they quietly left the study hall together.

She praised him, "Hubby, that was super manly just now."

Mortimer Quincy raised an eyebrow. "Manly?"

"Seems my honey’s experience is lacking. I’ll have to give you a proper ’manly’ experience at home."

Holly Winslow let out a disdainful "Tch!" She felt his hand, which had some hard calluses. "Hubby, I’ll graciously allow you to use my hand cream."

Mortimer Quincy let out a low chuckle. "How about you let me use my honey instead?"

Holly Winslow: "..."

’I was just feeling sorry for this guy, and here he is, turning the conversation lewd.’

Then, she heard him add, "Honey, I got a promotion. My salary’s up to three thousand now."

Holly Winslow’s eyes widened. She linked her arm with his. "Hubby, you’re amazing! I only make a little over a thousand a month."

"I’ll take my honey shopping for clothes tomorrow," Mortimer Quincy said, stroking her head.

Holly Winslow blinked. "In that case, I won’t hold back!"

Her expression was just too adorable. Mortimer Quincy’s throat bobbed as he leaned down and gave her a quick kiss. "Don’t worry, this hubby won’t be ’holding back’ either."
