Chapter 210: Scum Wife
Chapter 210: Scum Wife
Holly Winslow: "..."
She knew that rascal Mortimer Quincy was just teasing her. No matter how shameless he was, he wouldn’t actually do anything in public. He was just running his mouth to get a rise out of her for fun.
She gave his chest a light, annoyed punch and put on the airs of the head of the household. "The bus is here. Get the fare out."
The 11:40 bus was the last one heading to the university. By the time the two of them rushed all the way to the dorms, they only had five minutes to spare before curfew.
...
As soon as Mortimer Quincy entered the dorm room, Spencer Shaw and the other two instinctively glanced at him, their eyes landing on his ripped pants pocket at the same time.
Xavier Jennings, phone in hand, let his jaw drop. A wicked grin spread across his face. "Well now, things get that intense? You even ripped your pants."
Howard Gardner burst out laughing. "HAHA! More than just intense, huh? Why are you back now? Not pulling an all-nighter?"
Faced with the malicious gazes of the three single guys, Mortimer Quincy calmly ignored them, grabbed his pajamas, and headed for the shower.
Seeing him go in, Xavier Jennings snickered. He then looked at the other two with an all-knowing expression. "Sex-ual-ly fru-stra-ted."
Spencer Shaw, leg jiggling as he played a game, nodded in agreement.
Howard Gardner, with one leg crossed over the other, laughed twice. "HAHA!"
After his shower, the "sexually frustrated" certain someone came out to find a "consolation prize" from his roommates on the table.
He swept his gaze over them, towel-drying his dripping hair. "Not eating it, thanks."
Xavier Jennings slapped his thigh, giving him a look that said, ’How can you not get it?’ Then, he started lecturing, "You don’t have to eat it, but your girl does! Keep your girl happy, and you’ll seal the deal." He finished with a wink and a wicked grin.
Putting it together with his ripped pants, Mortimer Quincy instantly understood what they were getting at. "..."
’Who the hell told them I was sexually frustrated?’
’Do I look sexually frustrated?’
’Fuck!’
He shot them a "scornful" glance before sitting down at his computer. He started working on the PowerPoint for tomorrow’s class, his long, slender fingers tapping skillfully across the keyboard.
Xavier Jennings and the other two had been hoping for more drama, but all the fun was instantly gone. "..."
They went back to their games, their hearts not in it.
Suddenly, Howard Gardner looked up at Mortimer Quincy and said something shocking. "Mortimer, don’t tell me your girlfriend ran off with someone else, and that’s why you’re acting like this..."
Meeting the other man’s piercing gaze, he swallowed the rest of his sentence. He quickly backpedaled, "Just kidding, just kidding! It was purely a joke."
Spencer Shaw shot him an unsympathetic look. ’Serves him right. Nobody would be happy to hear something like that.’
Mortimer Quincy didn’t say anything, simply retracting his gaze. His long fingers resumed tapping on the keyboard, but the slight press of his lips betrayed his current mood.
It wasn’t good.
Only then did Howard Gardner realize he’d said something he shouldn’t have. He cast a pleading look at Xavier Jennings and Spencer Shaw, mouthing silently, "What do I do?"
’It really wasn’t on purpose. I just saw that nothing seemed to get a rise out of Mortimer.’
’I was just curious.’
Xavier Jennings and Spencer Shaw weren’t about to rescue a dead man, not that they could. Mortimer Quincy was already a man of few words on a good day; when he was angry, he was probably even less approachable.
’Better not to get involved.’
...
After Holly Winslow finished reviewing the day’s class material, she got into bed to sleep.
The moment she slipped under the covers, she felt a chill. The dorm’s prepaid electricity was almost out, and they hadn’t topped it up yet. The remaining balance was just enough to keep the lights on for the night.
She rubbed her feet together under the blanket and started to miss her free-of-charge furnace.
Blaze Quincy.
She checked the time. It was midnight. Huddled under her blanket, she sent a text to a certain someone: "Hey, babe. Asleep yet?"
Her babe replied instantly: "Not yet. Making a PowerPoint."
Before Holly Winslow could reply, another message came from Mortimer Quincy: "What’s wrong?"
Holly Winslow: "Nothing, I just wanted to ask, is it not as warm without me there?"
The young man’s lips curved up in the glow of the computer screen: "Wife, I’m so cold I’ve gone numb."
Need kisses, hugs, and... doing it.
Holly Winslow: "..."
’Pretend I never asked that question.’
Not getting a response from his wife, Mortimer Quincy raised an eyebrow and sent another message: "Gonna flirt and run? Don’t want to take responsibility?"
Such a scumbag wife.
The scumbag wife, Holly Winslow: "..."
Just as she was about to retaliate, another message arrived from Mortimer Quincy: "Wife, you wouldn’t run off with someone else."
Holly Winslow: "..."
She rolled her eyes under the blanket: "Not unless I grow two more legs."
Mortimer Quincy: "Even if you had eight, you couldn’t."
Sensing his awkward mood, Holly Winslow couldn’t help but smile: "I’m not an octopus."
’That guy must have been ’triggered’ by something,’ she thought. After a moment, she posted a status on her social feed.
Two legs, can’t run fast, and don’t want to run away.
The rest of my life is you.
Anna Willow, who was up late: "Tsk tsk, the stench of love is in the air. It’s suffocating, Holly."
Holly Winslow replied to her: "Did it knock you out? HAHAHAHA."
The next second, a call came in. Holly Winslow quickly silenced her phone, then answered, speaking in a hushed voice from under her blanket. "Hello?"
The man’s low, magnetic voice, tinged with a hint of lust, came from the other end of the line. "Wife, I love you."
Holly Winslow couldn’t stop her eyes from crinkling into a smile under the covers. ’That silly husband. We’ve been married for so many years, and he’s still playing these games for young people.’
’I wonder who it was that said we were an old married couple and didn’t need to play those young people’s games anymore.’
’Ahem, the second half of that sentence was, ’We should just do it.’’
The motto of university life: the nightlife only just begins at midnight.
In the dorm room, Serena Shaw and the others were still awake. Hearing Holly Winslow’s occasional suppressed laughter, the three of them kept glancing over.
Serena Shaw, in the opposite bunk, couldn’t resist pulling back her curtain to tease her. "Holly, you can stop hiding under the blanket. We can all hear your lovey-dovey giggles."
"Sigh, life is too hard for us singles. We get hit with PDA everywhere we go."
"The couple in front of me in high school were all over each other every day. I almost reported them."
"If they hadn’t both failed the college entrance exams, I’d probably have lost the will to live by now. How can people date early and still get good grades? It’s impossible."
"If it’s possible, I’ll go eat shit."
Holly Winslow: "..."
She’d forgotten to mention that she and Mortimer Quincy had started dating in high school.
She rarely hung out with her roommates, and even when she did, they were usually studying.
"Serena, go eat."
The room went quiet for a moment. Then, Autumn Underwood said in shock, "Holly, no way. You and your boyfriend got together in high school?"
Holly Winslow hummed in affirmation. "We were desk-mates."
Serena Shaw: "..."
That comeback was swift and brutal.
Simone Quincy said with envy, "I’m impressed. Dating early and still getting good grades... I guess I’m really not cut out for romance."
"I had a boyfriend in high school. He had great grades. In our senior year, he broke up with me, saying it would affect his studies."
"He ended up scoring much lower than me on the exam. That put my mind at ease."
Holly Winslow and the other two: "..."
The atmosphere in the dorm turned to gossip. Autumn Underwood said, "Boss, your love life is truly one of a kind, a cut above the rest."
Simone Quincy smiled. "Oh, I’m nothing special. Just second-best in the world."
...
The next day, Mortimer Quincy and Holly Winslow both had a "full schedule."
This "full schedule" consisted of Holly having class in the morning, and Mortimer having classes in the afternoon and evening.
In the morning, Mortimer accompanied Holly to her class. In the afternoon, Holly accompanied Mortimer to his.
Microeconomics.
The professor required every student to come up and present a problem on the board once during the semester, in front of over a hundred people.
Today was Mortimer Quincy’s turn to present. He stood at the podium, adjusting the microphone. As required by the professor, he was wearing a suit.
A suit is a true test of a man’s physique, and it fit his shoulders, hips, and legs perfectly.
