Chapter 195: From Now On, I’ll Be Calling Your Name in My Class
Chapter 195: From Now On, I’ll Be Calling Your Name in My Class
The girls didn’t seem to notice his expression, probably just like Holly Winslow back in the day—completely blinded by his good looks.
’Hah, the only reason we’re together is because I was "blind" to his personality.’
The girls glanced at the large screen and then asked, "How many people per team? And can we form our own?"
Holly Winslow glanced back at the words on the screen: "Four-person teams, form your own."
"..."
Just as she was about to speak, Scholar Quincy beside her said matter-of-factly, "You can’t enter the competition if you’re nearsighted." He then took Holly Winslow’s pen and crossed out the girls’ names.
The girls froze for a few seconds before it dawned on them. Their expressions soured, and they left in a huddle.
Holly Winslow: "..."
’That Mortimer Quincy really has no clue how to let a girl down easy. No wonder he was destined to be single for life.’
’He probably just maxed out his hate-o-meter with that group of girls. Hah, if someone posts this on the school forums, he’s going to go "viral" for all the wrong reasons again.’
She never thought her jinx would actually come true.
When Anna Willow arrived, Holly Winslow and Mortimer were still at the entrance to the cafeteria. Anna crept up and covered Holly’s eyes from behind.
Holly Winslow was busy tallying the sign-ups and assumed it was Mortimer acting out of boredom. She lowered her voice. "Quincy the Puppy, stop being so childish. Let go! If you don’t, I’ll make you kneel on a keyboard when we get home."
Mortimer Quincy, who had just been caught in the crossfire while sitting there, raised an eyebrow.
Hearing the threat of kneeling on a keyboard, Anna Willow couldn’t help but let out a snort of laughter. "Holly, it’s me. Do I need to kneel on the keyboard too?"
Holly Winslow: "..."
She grinned. "You do."
Then she grabbed a stool for her. "Wait for me a little bit, I’m almost done. I’ll treat you to a nice meal afterward."
"Then I’ll take you up on that."
Anna Willow couldn’t help but smile. She was wearing a black coat over a blue dress, clearly having taken pains to dress up.
The more Holly Winslow looked at her, the less it seemed like Anna was just here to see her. Holly leaned in close with a sly grin. "Anna, you’re here to see Zeke Zane, aren’t you?"
Anna Willow, having been found out: "..."
She blushed and tried to deny it. "No way, I came to see you." Her voice trailed off, her own words lacking conviction.
"Yeah, right." Holly Winslow slung an arm around her neck and whispered, "So what did you and Zeke Zane do when you went out last week? Hehe." She finished with a mischievous grin.
Anna Willow’s face turned bright red. "..."
She retorted, "Well, what did you and your handsome ’cousin’ do last week?"
Holly Winslow: "..."
It was a classic case of mutually assured destruction.
Without saying a word, they both started picturing the other’s weekend rendezvous with a devious grin.
After her shift was over, Holly Winslow, as expected, temporarily abandoned Mortimer Quincy. Before she left, however, she did order him a "deluxe combo" for lunch.
When Mortimer Quincy got back to his dorm, he checked the time. It was already two in the afternoon. He’d been planning to spend some quality time with Holly, since he didn’t have any classes.
He called Zeke Zane and got straight to the point. "Your girlfriend’s here."
Hearing that his girlfriend was here from someone else felt like a stab to the heart for Zeke Zane, since Anna Willow hadn’t told him she was coming. "..."
"Where is she?"
Mortimer Quincy raised an eyebrow. "Don’t know. Ask her yourself." And with that, he hung up.
Zeke Zane: "..."
He called Anna Willow. "Anna, where are you? I’ll come find you. I don’t have any classes this afternoon."
Anna Willow glanced at Holly Winslow, then stammered that she was out shopping and gave him the address. In the face of Holly’s mischievous grin, she grabbed an item of clothing and escaped into a fitting room.
Zeke Zane arrived.
Holly Winslow tactfully made her exit, saying she was heading back to school. Partway there, she got a call from Mortimer Quincy. She put on a pitiful voice. "Quincy the Puppy, I’ve been abandoned."
Mortimer Quincy feigned ignorance. "What’s wrong?"
"Zeke Zane showed up, so I left."
"Where are you?"
"On the bus."
"Weren’t you going to buy clothes? I’ll go with you in a bit."
Holly Winslow thought about it for a second and agreed.
The moment the bus pulled up to the stop, Holly Winslow saw Mortimer Quincy waiting. It had only been a few minutes since their call, but it should have taken him at least ten minutes to get here from his dorm.
As soon as Mortimer Quincy sat down next to her, she eyed him suspiciously. "Quincy the Puppy, was it you who tipped off Zeke Zane?"
"Hm?" Caught red-handed, Mortimer Quincy simply looked at her with a puzzled expression.
Holly Winslow studied him for a good ten seconds but couldn’t read anything from his expression. Giving up on the issue, she chuckled. "Hehe, I just saw an outfit that would look great on you. You should try it on later."
Then she added, "And I’ll just happen to buy a couple of things for myself, too."
Mortimer Quincy raised an eyebrow and chuckled softly. "’Just happen to’ buy a couple of things?"
"Hm?"
"Your husband is here with you, and you’re *only* going to ’happen to’ buy two things?"
"Don’t you think you’re missing out?"
Hearing him put it that way, Holly Winslow suddenly felt like only buying two things would indeed be a waste. She linked her arm through his and leaned against him. "Alright then, I’ll buy a few more things for me, and a few more things for you, too."
Mortimer Quincy wasn’t interested in clothes. He shook his head and said in a low, deliberate voice, "Just spend some more time with your husband this weekend."
Holly Winslow: "..."
They wandered around the mall for two or three hours and spent over three thousand, using their "child-rearing fund" card.
Mortimer Quincy had wanted to pay, but Holly Winslow was adamant he didn’t.
After dinner, the two returned to campus. Holly Winslow had an evening class, but Mortimer Quincy didn’t, so he went along with her.
Fewer students attended the evening classes, and only about half the class was there. The professor, who was known for never taking attendance, suddenly pulled out a roster and started a roll call, catching all the ditching students completely off guard.
Unless they could teleport, those absent students were definitely losing their attendance points for the day.
Holly Winslow quickly sent a message to Serena Shaw in their group chat. Serena Shaw replied with a string of exclamation points: *Holly, you have to save me! Get your boyfriend to answer for me! Please, please, please!*
Holly Winslow: "..."
After Serena Shaw’s desperate "pleas," Holly hesitated for a moment before turning to Mortimer Quincy. "When the professor calls my name, you answer. I’ll answer for Serena Shaw."
Mortimer Quincy: "..."
The professor soon reached Holly Winslow’s name on the list. "Holly Winslow."
Mortimer Quincy: "Here."
The entire class immediately turned to look, their curiosity piqued.
The professor glanced at him. ’Probably a guy with a feminine name,’ he thought. He made a mental note of this student, Holly Winslow. He then continued, "Mindy Raines."
After the roll call was over, more students had trickled into the classroom, but it was too late. The points had already been docked.
The professor lectured for about half the period before calling on a student to answer a question. "Holly Winslow."
Holly Winslow, having just been called on: "..."
She shot a weak glance at Mortimer Quincy, praying the professor wouldn’t know who was who. But just as she started to stand, the professor said, "Not you. The young man next to you."
He pushed his glasses up his nose, confused. "Are there two Holly Winslows?" he murmured, starting to flip through the roster again.
Someone in the class let out a laugh, and then the whole room erupted in laughter.
Seeing there was only one Holly Winslow on the roster, the professor instantly understood what had happened. "The young man, stand up and answer. If you get it right, I’ll let this slide. If you get it wrong, I’m docking double the points."
Holly Winslow: "..."
Mortimer Quincy glanced at the question on the board and rattled off the answer fluently.
The professor nodded, satisfied. "Correct. You may sit down."
He paused for a beat, then asked, "Are you related to Holly Winslow?"
The class burst out laughing again. One of the guys piped up, "He is!"
Hearing this, the professor glanced at Holly Winslow and delivered the cruel verdict: "From now on in my class, I’ll just be calling your name."
