Chapter 188: Anyway, a Kiss Isn’t a Crime
Chapter 188: Anyway, a Kiss Isn’t a Crime
Hearing this, Serena Shaw couldn’t help but laugh. She chimed in, "Your boyfriend doesn’t look like he’s hurting for money, either."
Mortimer Quincy had bought milk tea for their whole dorm several times. And when he said he’d treat the three sections of the finance department to a meal, he actually did it. Even though it was just the school cafeteria, it still wasn’t cheap.
She started playing her part as a "keyboard warrior" and commented below: Are you an idiot, OP? Did you even bother to ask anyone from sections one through three of the finance department?
Someone quickly replied to her: I think the OP has a screw loose too. They’re probably just jealous. Jealous that her boyfriend is handsome and rich.
OP: What do I have to be jealous about? I have a boyfriend, and he’s very handsome and very rich, thank you very much.
I just can’t stand this toxic trend at our school.
Sylvia: Oh, look at you, Miss Morally Superior. I have no idea how you got into B University with an IQ like that. Don’t you know the provincial top scorer for the science track gets a reward of several hundred thousand yuan? And a full tuition waiver?
Besides, his family isn’t short on cash. They live in a villa and even have a swimming pool.
’Image shattered,’ my ass. I think your brain is what’s shattered. Do people have to literally wear their money for you to consider them rich?
I’ll give you that you have a boyfriend, but is he as handsome as Mortimer? If you’ve got the guts, why don’t you trot him out for us all to see?
When Serena Shaw saw this person’s reply, she was doubled over with laughter. She showed her phone to Holly Winslow. "This is killing me."
Recognizing the familiar ID, Holly Winslow couldn’t help but grin. She then pulled out her own phone and found the forum thread.
By now, there were already hundreds of comments. Some believed it, some didn’t. Sylvia’s reply had been upvoted to the top. The OP had replied to her: You’re full of it.
Holly Winslow thought for a moment, then tagged the OP and commented: OP, is your boyfriend as handsome as him? Does he get grades as good as his? If the answer is yes, then just ignore my question.
If not, then delete this post. Do your IQ a favor.
And as for who’s full of it... we all know the answer to that.
Watching her hit send, Serena Shaw laughed so hard her stomach hurt. "Holly Winslow, you’re so vicious! The OP is probably going to tear you a new one."
"When it comes to my man, I will defend him to the death."
Holly Winslow made a fist. Looking back at her phone, she saw the OP had replied: What a stan. The guy already has a girlfriend and you’re still throwing yourself at him. So cheap.
Holly Winslow was so angry she had to laugh. She typed back: Excuse me, I’m his girlfriend, Holly Winslow.
I’m not some sugar mama. My family doesn’t own a mine, so I can’t afford to keep him.
Sylvia: Hahaha, you’re here, Sis! Quick, look! We’ve got an idiot over here!
Holly Winslow let out a laugh. She waited a minute or two, but the OP didn’t reply. Instead, other people started replying, most of them commenting on her feisty attitude.
At lunch, Mortimer Quincy heard about the whole affair. His expression didn’t change, but he raised an eyebrow with a roguish smirk. In his low, magnetic voice, he said, "I love being my darling’s ’kept man.’"
Holly Winslow followed his gaze down to her own chest. "..."
’That son of a bitch, Mortimer Quincy.’
’What’s he staring at in broad daylight?’
She bared her teeth. "Quincy the Lecher, you look again and I’ll gouge your eyes out and eat them."
’Damn it, she’s intoxicatingly cute.’
Mortimer Quincy let out a low chuckle and shrugged innocently. "I was just looking at the grain of rice on your shirt. What were you thinking about, darling?"
Holly Winslow, having had the tables turned on her so completely: "..."
She glanced down again and, sure enough, there was a grain of rice. She plucked it off, then shot the boy across from her a "Hmph!"
’Like hell his thoughts are that pure.’
She lowered her head and focused on her food, ignoring him.
"Holly? Holly?"
Mortimer Quincy called her name a few times, but the girl across from him paid him no mind. He quirked an eyebrow. "If you keep ignoring me, I’m going to kiss you."
Meeting her slightly widened, almond-shaped eyes, he explained coolly, "It’s not like kissing is illegal."
Holly Winslow: "..."
His shamelessness made her choke on her food. "COUGH, COUGH, COUGH..."
She couldn’t take it anymore and reached across the table to pinch his cheek, right there in the cafeteria. "Mortimer Quincy," she said through slightly gritted teeth, "can you please shut up and let me eat in peace?"
Their little scene drew the attention of the people around them. She could faintly hear someone say, "Hey, look over there."
Holly Winslow: "..."
’What the hell are they gawking at?’
As if he could read her mind, that rascal Mortimer Quincy repeated, "What the hell are they gawking at?"
Holly Winslow, having her thoughts read aloud: "..."
’Today I really feel like throwing this guy out.’
Seeing her purse her lips, Mortimer Quincy knew she was about to blow a fuse. His survival instinct kicking in, he reined in his smile. "It’s a little hot. Want to get some milk tea?"
"Yes."
Holly Winslow had no intention of letting Quincy the Moneybags off easy. She held up two fingers. "One original and one blueberry."
"Okay."
Mortimer Quincy gave a doting nod and got up to buy the milk tea. Once he was a safe distance away, Holly Winslow had an idea and stuffed all the greens from her bowl under the rice in his.
She also piled a good portion of her rice on top.
About ten minutes later, Mortimer Quincy returned with two cups of milk tea. His eyes swept over the obviously larger pile of rice in his bowl, and he raised a single eyebrow.
After putting straws in both cups, he handed them to Holly Winslow.
Holly Winslow gave him a mischievous little laugh, took a sip from each cup, and then pushed one of them toward Mortimer Quincy. "You look so pitiful, so I’ll let you have this," she said magnanimously. "No need to thank me."
Mortimer Quincy didn’t seem to mind. He took a sip, then pretended not to notice anything and started eating. When he finally got to the vegetables hidden at the bottom, he looked at Holly Winslow, silently demanding a reasonable explanation.
Holly Winslow just blinked at him innocently. "Quincy the Puppy, it’s a surprise for you! Do you like it?"
Mortimer Quincy: "..."
’Damn it, she’s actually making me laugh.’
’If he dared to say he didn’t like it, his darling would definitely launch into a tirade: ’Mortimer Quincy, you’re disgusted by me, aren’t you? Is it because we’ve been together for too long? Are you tired of me now?’’
’Fine, let’s just go our separate ways! I’ll be perfectly fine without you!’
’She’d probably go on and on with a whole speech like that, and every line would be different.’
"I love it."
Only after he’d finished all the food did Mortimer Quincy raise a hand and gently tap Holly Winslow on the forehead. "No being a picky eater," he reminded her.
"How will you grow up if you’re a picky eater?"
His gaze drifted pointedly down to her chest.
’He’s saying my chest is small.’
Holly Winslow: "..."
She decided to fight back. "Well, you’re not a picky eater, and I haven’t seen you get any bigger either."
Mortimer Quincy remained unruffled, retorting with flawless logic, "How would you know if you’ve never seen it? Why don’t we see each other tonight?"
"Bare it all, so to speak."
...
「On the day the military training performance ended」, Holly Winslow changed back into her own clothes. Looking in the mirror at the tan line separating her neck and her collarbones, she found it so ridiculous she couldn’t help but laugh.
"Holly, what are you grinning about?" Serena Shaw sidled up with a smile, looking at Holly Winslow’s reflection in the mirror.
Holly Winslow pointed to her neck. "Doesn’t it look like I’m two different shades?" she joked.
"Yours isn’t so bad, it’s not that obvious. Look at mine."
Serena Shaw couldn’t help but chuckle. She held out her hand. "I sent a picture to my mom, and she said my hand looks like a charcoal-grilled chicken foot."
Simone Quincy, the tallest in the dorm, lifted the leg of her silky, wide-leg pants. Her long, straight legs had been ruined by the sun. Her skin was originally quite fair, but she was the type who tanned easily. "Can anyone possibly have it worse than me? They look like roasted pig’s feet."
Holly Winslow and Serena Shaw both laughed. Serena Shaw tried to console her. "Cecilia, your legs are much longer than a pig’s foot."
Autumn Underwood, who had the darkest complexion in the dorm, was sitting at her desk, engrossed in a newly issued textbook. She turned to look at them. "I’m so jealous. At least you can tell when you get a tan. With me, you can’t even see a difference."
"Born dark, destined to be this way."
At that, Holly and the other two burst out laughing. Holly noticed she was in her pajamas and didn’t seem to be packing. "You’re not going home?"
Autumn Underwood shook her head. "It’s too far. The round trip by train would take four or five days."
Serena Shaw gasped. "But the school’s giving us a seven-day break! You’ll be so bored here in the dorm all by yourself."
Autumn Underwood held up the textbook in her hand. "I’ll have this to keep me company."
