Reborn with My Genius Husband

Chapter 177: Teacher Chaucer, This Is My Girlfriend, Holly Winslow

Chapter 177: Teacher Chaucer, This Is My Girlfriend, Holly Winslow

The moment Holly Winslow walked out of the exam hall, she spotted Wyatt Winslow in the crowd. It was noon, and the sun was scorching. He wasn’t holding an umbrella, and tiny beads of sweat had formed on his forehead.

Her eyes had been stinging a lot lately.

Wyatt Winslow didn’t ask how her exam went, simply leading her to the car.

The air conditioning was already on inside, and the temperature was just right.

Holly Winslow opened the lunchbox. Inside were two meat dishes, a vegetable dish, and a bottle of milk.

Seeing her hesitate, Wyatt Winslow thought she didn’t like the food. He pressed his lips together. "Just make do for now. After your exams are over, I’ll take you out for a nice meal."

’Food from restaurants isn’t always the cleanest.’

"Dad, what do you mean, ’make do’? This smells amazing, way better than restaurant food! Hmph, I don’t care, after my exams are done, you have to cook a huge feast for me," Holly Winslow said, grinning at him before shoveling a large mouthful of rice into her mouth.

For two days straight, Wyatt Winslow had personally cooked all three of her meals.

After finishing her math exam, Holly Winslow knew she had it in the bag. Aside from the final major problem, which she was unsure about, she felt confident about all her other answers.

She lounged in the passenger seat and couldn’t help but sigh softly, "Ah, it’s finally over."

’The high school experience I yearned for, the one full of regrets... I’ve finally ’made up’ for it.’

’Keep it up, Teacher Winslow.’

’Leave no regrets in your youth.’

Wyatt Winslow glanced at her, pressed his lips together, and suddenly asked, "Want to go on a trip abroad?"

’Abroad?’

Holly Winslow’s first thought was of visiting Yvonne Lewis. In her past life, she had gone to stay with her for a while after the college entrance exams. At that time, Yvonne Lewis had just given birth.

Vincent Vance treated her decently, but he wasn’t warm. She felt like an outsider, unable to fit in.

Watching Yvonne Lewis and Vincent Vance cooing over her one-month-old little brother in his crib, she had a realization.

’I was the extra child.’

’A child that neither Wyatt Winslow nor Yvonne Lewis wanted.’

After that, she bought a plane ticket and went home alone.

She was rebellious back then, only sending Yvonne Lewis a message after she had already landed.

Even after so many years, she vividly remembered Yvonne Lewis’s reply: "Holly, you went back?"

Seven or eight hours had passed between her leaving the house and landing, and her mother hadn’t even noticed she was gone. It was laughable, really.

Back then, she had called Mortimer Quincy, whom she had only met a few times and who wasn’t her boyfriend yet. The moment she heard his voice, all her pent-up grievances erupted. She said, "Mortimer Quincy, will you come pick me up? If not, I’ll come find you."

Mortimer Quincy, on the other end of the line, seemed to sense something was wrong. "I’ll come get you. Stay where you are and wait for me."

Those three words, "wait for me," gave her an indescribable sense of belonging.

’I think that was the moment I knew it had to be him.’

Looking back, she could never truly let go of her feelings about Yvonne Lewis, just as she felt guilty for having ignored the fatherly love of Wyatt Winslow.

"Dad, I don’t want to go to her place."

Wyatt Winslow paused, understanding what she meant. He turned to look at her. With her eyes lowered, he couldn’t quite see her expression, but a pang of pain shot through his heart.

He said in a heavy voice, "We won’t go there. We’ll go somewhere else. Just our family."

Holly Winslow looked up in surprise. "Really? Aren’t you busy, Dad? Isn’t there a lot to do at the factory?"

Before he could answer, she added considerately, "On second thought, let’s not. We can go after you’re done with your work."

Wyatt Winslow looked at the traffic ahead. "Everything’s pretty much taken care of. I’ve already booked the plane tickets for the afternoon of the day after tomorrow."

Holly Winslow giggled. "Let’s go get Grandma and Grandpa tomorrow, so we can all go together."

...

After dinner, Holly Winslow received a message from Mortimer Quincy, asking her to come downstairs for a walk.

After reading the message, she instinctively glanced at Wyatt Winslow, who was sitting on the sofa reading a newspaper with his glasses on. "Dad, can I go out for a little while?"

Wyatt Winslow looked over, his lips pressed into a thin line. "Protect yourself."

Holly Winslow: "..."

’What trouble could I possibly get into in our own neighborhood?’

Ahem. But she didn’t dare say that out loud.

She nodded, slipped on a pair of black flip-flops, and went downstairs. She saw Mortimer Quincy holding a carton of ice cream—not the cheap kind from a small convenience store.

It was probably something Brooke Jarvis had brought back from outside. She ran over happily. "Ah, my favorite ice cream!"

Mortimer Quincy raised an eyebrow and lifted the carton slightly out of her reach, saying teasingly, "Isn’t your favorite thing Mortimer Quincy?"

Holly Winslow: "..."

’So childish.’

She deliberately shook her head. "Nope."

Seeing his displeased look, she blinked and said, "I love, love, *love* Mortimer Quincy the most."

"Hmph. I love you a little more than that. I love, love, love, love, love, love..."

Before Mortimer Quincy could finish, Holly Winslow gave him a light tap with her fist. "If you keep going, the ice cream is going to melt."

Mortimer Quincy chuckled softly. He opened the ice cream, which had indeed started to melt a little. As he peeled off the lid, he finished his earlier sentence, "Mortimer Quincy loves, loves, loves, loves, loves, loves, loves, loves, *loves* Holly Winslow the most."

"Sweet talker. You player."

Holly Winslow scooped up a spoonful and fed it to him. Mortimer Quincy leaned down to eat it, then said, "Want to go on a graduation trip?"

Holly Winslow glanced at him and blinked. "Sorry, you’ve missed your chance. I already have a date with another ’man’."

"I don’t mind," Mortimer Quincy said with a raised eyebrow.

Holly Winslow shook her head. "Don’t even think about it. If you came with us, my dad would probably give you the cold shoulder."

"Just be good and wait for me at home. I’ll be back once the exam results are released."

She paused after speaking, then narrowed her eyes at him. "And don’t think I don’t know what you’re *really* after with this trip idea. Just drop it."

His intentions seen through, Mortimer Quincy remained perfectly calm and said suggestively, "Can’t ’rest.’ I’ve been feeling more and more ’inflated’ since the exams ended."

Holly Winslow: "..."

She picked up her ice cream and walked away, leaving him behind to "inflate" on his own.

...

The next morning, the Rocket Class organized a get-together. Gabe Chaucer came as well and was currently laughing and chatting with the students.

Mortimer Quincy and Holly Winslow made a bold entrance, wearing matching white graphic T-shirts for couples.

Boris Owens took one look and said with a TSK, TSK, "You two have way too many ’sibling’ outfits. Damn, you’re loaded."

Chase Hawkins shot him a look, then, unable to hold it in any longer, raised his hand to ask for permission. "Mortimer Quincy, can I say it? If I don’t say it now, I’m literally going to explode."

Mortimer Quincy raised an eyebrow and said magnanimously, "Be my guest."

The long-suffering Chase Hawkins was so overjoyed he could have wept. Finally, he could make other people understand his "pain."

But before he could get the words out, Pantheon, who was standing beside him, beat him to the punch, yelling at the top of his lungs, "Mortimer Quincy and Holly Winslow aren’t cousins, they’re boyfriend and girlfriend!"

Chase Hawkins was so furious he choked, the words caught in his throat. His eyes reddened with rage. "Pantheon, I’m going to kill you!"

Pantheon, now caught in a headlock, let out a couple of COUGHS and cried for help, "Zeke Zane, help me!"

Everyone else just watched the two of them roughhousing and burst out laughing. No one took Pantheon’s outrageous statement seriously.

Worried that Mortimer Quincy and Holly Winslow might feel awkward, Gabe Chaucer laughed and added a gentle warning, "Pantheon, there’s a limit to your jokes. Don’t make jokes like that again."

Under everyone’s gaze, Mortimer Quincy suddenly took Holly Winslow’s hand. "Teacher Chaucer, this is my girlfriend, Holly Winslow."

Holly Winslow rubbed her nose, cautiously waiting for the reaction from Teacher Chaucer and the others.

The room fell silent for several seconds. Paul Powell was so shocked his phone clattered to the floor. His mouth hung open in disbelief. "Wait, are you speaking English? Because I’m not understanding a word you just said."

Mortimer Quincy shot him a cool glance. "Don’t question it. It’s true."

As everyone stared, Holly Winslow nodded.

Paul Powell had a total "what the fuck" expression on his face. "..."

’I... I... I...’

’FUCK!!’

’This might be the biggest plot twist I’ve ever witnessed in my life.’

’His cousin is his girlfriend.’

’So it wasn’t that my mind was in the gutter... It was Mortimer Quincy and Holly Winslow who were being ’indecent’ all along.’
