Chapter 175: Reciting the Keyboard Backwards
Chapter 175: Reciting the Keyboard Backwards
The classroom, once filled with over forty people, gradually became empty. On the walls and desks remained the "masterpieces" of mischievous students.
Gabe Chaucer’s eyes couldn’t help but redden again. He wiped away a tear and sighed softly, "You bunch of little monkeys..."
...
In the afternoon, Pantheon and his group suggested they go play games to relax for half a day. Cramming for half a day wouldn’t be very useful; it would just make them flustered and jumble their knowledge.
Ahem, it was mainly because the top students were already confident.
Holly Winslow called Anna Willow and the others. Half an hour later, the group gathered at Mindspire Internet Cafe.
When they arrived, the computers were already on.
But after Anna Willow and Iris Kensington sat down, they didn’t play. Instead, they found a cartoon for three or four-year-olds to watch. Holly Winslow was a bit surprised and asked quizzically, "Aren’t you guys playing?"
The two of them shook their heads at the same time. Anna Willow explained with a straight face, "I’m afraid my brain will be full of 8x scopes, bullets, and bots during the exam tomorrow."
Iris Kensington nodded in agreement.
The seven or eight people present went quiet for a moment. Pantheon was the first to burst out laughing, doubling over. "Boss Lady, are you serious?"
Anna Willow shot him a glance. "Couldn’t be more serious."
Holly Winslow looked at the little sheep on the screen and suddenly piped up, "Anna, are you guys going to have nothing but little sheep in your heads tomorrow?"
Beside her, Mortimer Quincy was sent into a fit of laughter by his wife’s words. He chuckled nonstop until even his shoulders were shaking.
Imagining the scene, everyone else started laughing too.
Anna Willow: "..."
She thought about it seriously. "Probably not. I’m not really paying attention."
Zeke Zane: "..."
It felt like she was saying that to him.
Off to the side, Iris Kensington was laughing so hard she could barely breathe.
Since Anna Willow and Iris Kensington weren’t playing, Holly Winslow didn’t either. The three of them sat at the very end, watching the cartoon, but they were actually just talking.
Suddenly, Anna Willow glanced at the boys who were gaming. Seeing that no one was paying attention to them, she pulled a USB drive from her pocket, plugged it into the computer tower, and said, "I’ll show you guys something good."
As her friend of many years, Holly Winslow understood immediately. After her initial shock, she whispered, "This isn’t a good idea."
Anna Willow muffled a "hehe" with her hand. "Only we are watching. Scoot closer."
It wasn’t anything too risqué on the USB drive, just some pictures of anime boys with abs.
There were all sorts of types: innocent puppy-dog boys, strong athletic types, black-bellied CEO types...
These were foreign, so they were more realistic; the lines of their abs looked very real.
The three of them watched with great interest, making comments from time to time.
Mortimer Quincy noticed it had gotten a lot quieter beside him. He glanced over out of the corner of his eye and saw the three of them huddled together, looking at something. He raised an eyebrow, leaned back slightly, and saw the anime boy with abs on the screen.
It looked like the domineering CEO type.
The next moment, his gaze fell on Holly Winslow’s profile. From his angle, he could clearly see the corner of her mouth turned up in a grin, seemingly very satisfied with the ab-man on the screen.
’Looks like I haven’t broadened my wife’s horizons enough.’
’She can get excited over something like this?’
’I’ll have to show her what’s what when we get home.’
As was his custom, Mortimer Quincy stopped playing after an hour. Holly Winslow and the other two also felt it was about time, so they suggested leaving.
Zeke Zane, who was still gaming, glanced at Anna Willow and immediately went AFK. "I’ll go with you guys."
Pantheon, who didn’t know he was in a relationship yet, exclaimed, "What the hell? You’re going AFK? Mortimer has a family to go home to, that’s understandable. But you’re a single dog, what’s your rush!"
Zeke Zane gave him a light kick and said irritably, "Shut up."
Iris Kensington and Holly Winslow both looked at Anna Willow with mischievous grins. Anna Willow’s ears turned red.
After leaving the internet cafe, they split into two groups: Anna Willow and Zeke Zane in one, and Holly Winslow, Iris Kensington, and Mortimer Quincy in the other.
After walking Iris Kensington to the entrance of her apartment building, Holly Winslow and Mortimer Quincy headed home.
Iris Kensington entered the stairwell and was stunned for a moment when she saw a boy in a blue short-sleeved shirt up ahead. The next second, she shyly walked over. "What are you doing back?"
Chris Chaucer tapped her lightly on the head. "Why didn’t you answer your phone?"
Iris Kensington had put her phone on silent when she went into the internet cafe. She pulled it out and saw over twenty missed calls. She said sheepishly, "I didn’t hear it."
Chris Chaucer took her schoolbag and naturally took her hand. "Want to get some milk tea before we go home?"
"Okay," Iris Kensington nodded.
...
Meanwhile, Mortimer Quincy had brought Holly Winslow back to the Quincy residence under the pretext of going over key topics for the exam.
Only Mercy Willow was home at the moment. She asked, "Have you eaten? I can go make something."
Mortimer Quincy shook his head and said politely, "We’ve eaten. Don’t worry about us, Aunt Willow."
He pulled Holly Winslow upstairs to the second floor, entered the bedroom, closed the door, and locked it—all in one smooth motion.
Holly Winslow stared at him with wide eyes. "..."
’Didn’t you say we were going to review key topics?’
’Don’t tell me reviewing key topics requires a locked door.’
The next moment, she saw Mortimer Quincy cross his hands, grab the hem of his shirt, and pull it off, revealing a well-defined six-pack to the open air.
Holly Winslow’s heart instantly started beating faster. Her almond-shaped eyes widened even more as she looked at him with a "wary" expression. "Seduction won’t work. I haven’t graduated yet, and the college entrance exams are tomorrow."
She added at the end, "I’m really not up for it."
Mortimer Quincy was amused by her last sentence. He raised an eyebrow and teased her intentionally, "Wouldn’t that make it more meaningful?"
He suddenly leaned in close. Holly Winslow swallowed hard. "I’m scared... Let’s not, for now."
’Even though they had done ’that sort of thing’ many times, she was still just a girl.’
"Rest assured, my dear wife, there isn’t enough time for that."
Seeing his wife’s mind go to the gutter, a hint of a smile flashed in Mortimer Quincy’s eyes. The next second, he grabbed her hand, placed it on his waist, and added, "If anime abs can satisfy my wife, then so can I—even more so."
Holly Winslow: "..."
’Her hand felt so hot.’
She quickly pulled her hand back. "I have to go home. My dad is looking for me."
She turned to unlock and open the door, pulling with all her might, but it didn’t budge. She looked up at the boy who was leaning against the door with both hands, watching her lazily.
She managed to squeeze out a threat, "If I don’t do well on the exam, I’m breaking up with you."
Mortimer Quincy let out a low chuckle. With one hand, he re-locked the door, and with the other, he leaned against it. He said languidly, "If you don’t do well on the exam, that’s perfect. We can start having kids. Two in three years, three in five."
"Just you try not doing well."
Holly Winslow: "..."
’I wouldn’t dare.’
She puffed out her chest, summoning the authority of a wife, and said, "Quincy the Puppy, are you asking to have to recite the keyboard?"
"Recite it backwards for me right now. If you can’t, we’re giving each other the silent treatment until after the exams."
Mortimer Quincy raised an eyebrow, opened his mouth, and recited it without a single pause or mistake: "mnbvcxzlkjhgfdsapoiuytrewq."
He paused for a moment. "The wife has had her say. Now, it’s the husband’s turn."
He held her face in his hands and lowered his head to cover her lips with his.
After a minute or two, he let her go. Then he put his shirt back on, picked out some key problem types, and went over them with her again.
When it was almost six o’clock, Mortimer Quincy walked Holly Winslow home. As luck would have it, they happened to run into Wyatt Winslow just as he was opening the door.
The three of them made eye contact. Wyatt Winslow was the first to look away, maintaining his usual silence.
Holly Winslow discreetly waved at Mortimer Quincy, signaling for him to go back first. Mortimer nodded. Perhaps because he was speaking too casually, after not having a slip of the tongue for a while, he suddenly had two. "Wife, Dad, I’m leaving now."
