Chapter 167: Graduation Outfits Are Couple’s Outfits
Chapter 167: Graduation Outfits Are Couple’s Outfits
Holly Winslow: "..."
That day, she’d had it "rough"—so rough she didn’t even eat dinner after work.
Her survival instinct was strong. "HEE HEE," she giggled. "How about I become your sugar mama? I’ve got money, deal?"
Mortimer Quincy raised an eyebrow. "What’s your offer? It can’t be too low."
Holly Winslow held up one finger, then shot him a wink that wasn’t particularly seductive. "Guess."
Mortimer Quincy chuckled deeply. ’My wife’s winks can probably only seduce me, which is for the best.’
"A hundred million?"
Holly Winslow’s eyes widened slightly. ’This shameless bastard, Mortimer,’ she thought. ’Does he really think his face is worth a hundred million?’ "You’re overthinking it."
"Ten million?"
"A million?"
"Ten thousand?"
Holly Winslow shook her head at each guess. Seeing he wasn’t getting it, she dropped the act. "HEH HEH," she snickered. "One yuan. Not a cent more."
"Seeing as you’re so sincere, I’ll reluctantly accept. Now, hand over the money." Mortimer Quincy held out his hand, raising an eyebrow to prompt her.
Holly Winslow lifted her chin, then reached into his pants pocket. After fumbling around for a bit, she pulled out a handful of cash, plucked out a one-yuan bill, and gave it to him. "Your sugar baby fee, my pretty boy Moira."
Hearing the words "pretty boy Moira," Mortimer Quincy couldn’t help but laugh. "Using my money?"
"Of course not. You don’t have any money. It’s all mine." Holly Winslow puffed herself up with the air of the head of the household.
"That makes sense. It’s all yours." Mortimer Quincy couldn’t resist pinching her cheek.
Pantheon and Zeke Zane, sitting at the desk in front of them, had heard every single word. "..."
They were constantly being force-fed dog food. It would be a miracle if they survived until the college entrance exams.
Zeke Zane thought for a moment, then took out his phone and sent a message to Anna Willow: What are you doing?
A minute or two later, Anna Willow replied: Doing homework.
What about you?
Zeke Zane: Doing homework.
Anna Willow: Okay, bye.
Zeke Zane: ...
’Why is my relationship so different from the one at the desk behind me?’
’It’s not very sweet.’
「The Faculty Office」
The head teacher of Class One recalled something and said to the other teachers in the office, "Have you all picked out your class uniforms yet?"
It wasn’t early anymore, so they needed to get it sorted out to avoid the peak season for graduation apparel, which would make things hard to buy.
The head teacher of Class Three got a headache just thinking about it. "I’ve been looking online for two days, and nothing looks that good. I’m wondering if we should just design a logo and contact a manufacturer to make them."
"That would be cheaper. I’ll go in on it with you," the Class One teacher chimed in.
The other teachers agreed as well.
Gabe Chaucer chimed in with a chuckle, "I’ve already found something. I thought those ’sibling outfits’ Mortimer Quincy and Holly Winslow wore last time looked pretty good, so I found something similar online. Sixty-eight yuan a piece."
"They’re short-sleeved shirts, so they can be worn even after graduation. It won’t be a waste."
All the teachers in the office had seen the "sibling outfits" and agreed they were quite unique. The head teacher of Class Four said, "Let us see."
Gabe Chaucer took out his phone and showed them the picture. "I chose the ’Youth Without Regrets’ monkey design. They have lots of other styles too—pigs, horses, you name it. They look pretty nice."
The Class One teacher suddenly pointed at his screen. "It says ’Cartoon-style Couple’s Outfits.’ Teacher Chaucer, these are for couples."
"That’s where you’re mistaken. Sibling outfits, family outfits, couple’s outfits—they’re all the same sort of thing."
After dispensing this wisdom, Gabe Chaucer added cleverly, "Student outfits, graduation outfits—they’re all part of it too."
The Class One teacher didn’t think much of it and joked, "I must be out of the loop. Teacher Chaucer is the one who keeps up with the trends."
"The price is pretty cheap, too. Teacher Chaucer, send me the link. I’ll pick a style as well. I can’t be bothered to design one."
The other teachers all agreed it was more convenient, so they asked for the link too. They coordinated with each other to make sure they didn’t pick the same style.
And so, all the senior year science classes decided on couple’s outfits—no, graduation outfits.
These so-called graduation outfits would later transform into couple’s outfits.
This would become the greatest Waterloo of Gabe Chaucer’s life.
During the afternoon self-study period, Gabe Chaucer took the opportunity to visit the classroom and talk about the class uniforms. "I’ve already picked out the class uniforms. They’re similar to the sibling outfits Mortimer Quincy and Holly Winslow have, which you’ve all seen."
The expressions on Pantheon, Zeke Zane, and Chase Hawkins’s faces turned strange. "..."
’Fuck.’
’Isn’t he basically rushing to hand out couple’s outfits to his students?’
Mortimer Quincy was very pleased. The pen in his hand happily marked down a ’C’.
"Why are your mouths hanging open like that? It’s not expensive."
Gabe Chaucer saw Pantheon’s jaw drop and assumed he thought it was too expensive. He then explained with a smile, "The shirts are sixty-eight yuan each. You all just need to pay fifty, and I’ll cover the rest. Think of it as a little graduation gift from me."
The whole class clapped happily. "Long live Teacher Chaucer!"
Gabe Chaucer smiled and raised a hand to quiet them down. "No need for ’long live.’ Just get good grades for me on your exams."
The whole class agreed in unison, "Okay!"
"Class president, when you have time, please collect the money and everyone’s sizes. Try to be quick so I can contact the seller."
Gabe Chaucer thought of something and paused. "Is anyone already out of money?"
He had told them before the monthly break to bring an extra hundred yuan for the class uniforms.
But students didn’t have much self-control; they had probably spent it all already.
"Yes," the whole class nodded.
Gabe Chaucer still said, "If you don’t have the money, don’t pay yet. I’ll cover it for you for now. And if you’re out of living expenses, you can borrow from me too."
Paul Powell raised his hand and interjected, "Teacher Chaucer, aren’t you afraid we’ll run off?"
"Of course I am. If you run off, there’s nothing I can do about it. I’ll just have to eat congee for a few months at most." Gabe Chaucer spread his hands helplessly.
The whole class roared with laughter.
After Teacher Chaucer left, Holly Winslow started fumbling in her pockets. She pulled out a hundred-yuan bill and was about to have it passed to the front when Mortimer Quincy stopped her hand. "Same old rule. Your husband pays."
He took out a hundred-yuan bill and handed it to the class president. "For me and Holly Winslow. A medium and an extra-large."
The class president nodded, jotting down their names. "Got it."
Chase Hawkins also had a hundred-yuan bill. He suddenly called out to Pantheon and Zeke Zane, "Either of you have a fifty? I’ve only got a hundred."
Zeke Zane said, "I’ve only got a hundred too. I’ll pay first, and you can pay me back when you get change."
Chase Hawkins nodded.
Pantheon also had a hundred. "Class president, do you have fifty in change?"
The class president pushed up his glasses and shook his head. "Not at the moment."
Pantheon said, "Oh," then looked over at Cynthia Owens, who was sitting by the aisle. "Second Cousin, do you have fifty?"
Cynthia Owens didn’t say anything, just showed him a hundred-yuan bill. Pantheon didn’t overthink it and said cheerfully, "I’ll pay for you first. You can pay me back when you have change." With that, he handed a hundred-yuan bill to the class president.
Hearing this, Holly Winslow quickly rummaged through her pockets. Between her and Mortimer, they only had forty-six yuan in change. She turned around. "Luna Lynch, can I borrow four yuan?"
Luna Lynch only had three yuan.
Mortimer Quincy spoke up. "Don’t worry about it. Second Cousin will pay him back. If you give it to her, she’ll just have to give it back to you. It’s all the same."
The Quincy Family knew the Quincy Family best.
Paul Powell rubbed his nose and glanced at Luna Lynch, who was busy with her homework, a little scheme forming in his mind. "Luna, do you have fifty yuan? You probably don’t, right? I’ll pay for you." Before Luna Lynch could answer, he had already paid.
Luna Lynch had already felt the fifty-yuan bill in her pocket when she heard the first half of his sentence. After hearing the second half, she pushed up her glasses. "Thanks. I’ll pay you back tomorrow."
"No rush," Paul Powell said with a foolish grin.
Chase Hawkins: "..."
’It’s just too cringe to watch.’
’The couple in front, the soon-to-be couple on the right.’
’A puppy love sandwich.’
’Commonly known as a goddamn single dog.’
