Chapter 330: About Everything of Yours, I Have Kept
The old couple were understanding people. After chatting with Su Ruochu for a while and seeing that the girl was still a bit nervous, they said they had some chores left to do outside in the courtyard, leaving the space for the two young people.
Su Ruochu curiously looked around this less than 100 square meter house, her eyes full of curiosity.
There had been quite a few new pieces of furniture added to the home, including a color TV, refrigerator, washing machine, and even the sofa in the living room, all newly bought.
Some of these appliances were personally selected by Su Ruochu and Chen Fan.
However, these home appliances seemed a bit out of place in this really old house.
In the middle of the living room, leaning against the wall, was an old-style cabinet for bowls and plates. Chen Fan's parents couldn't bear to throw it away, so they kept it.
The walls around were covered with old newspapers that had turned yellow over time.
In the center above the cabinet hung a portrait of a great leader, flanked by a couplet on each side.
Su Ruochu's gaze swept towards the main bedroom. The space there was even more cramped. By the window in the corner stood a small triangular cabinet, on top of which sat the newly bought big color TV.
Across from the TV was a wooden bed where Chen Fan's parents usually slept.
Near the door was a small iron stove with a round iron chimney pipe extending out through the wall corner above.
The wallpaper on that stove wall had long been scorched yellow and black.
On the wall right next to the bedroom door hung a calendar, small mirror, and several awards.
Those few awards were all the honors Chen Fan had received from elementary school through high school.
Su Ruochu stood at the doorway, glanced around, and her gaze finally fell on the awards as she playfully teased Chen Fan.
"I have more awards than you."
Chen Fan scratched his head, "I've never been good at studying since I was little. I gave my parents a lot of headaches."
Su Ruochu rolled her eyes. "You weren't good at studying, yet you still got into Yunhai University along with me on the college entrance exam."
Chen Fan smiled proudly, "That was an extraordinary performance, mainly because you promised to be my girlfriend then. The power of love unleashed my potential."
"Pfft! Talking nonsense again."
Su Ruochu snorted softly, her face flushed, then she walked slowly with her hands behind her back to the door of another room.
"This... is your study?"
"It's a study, and also a bedroom."
"Yeah, this is the room I lived in since I was little. Take a look around."
Chen Fan pushed open the door to the small room where he slept, grinning as he made an inviting gesture to Su Ruochu.
Su Ruochu glanced at Chen Fan, "Inviting a girl into your bedroom on the first home visit, what are your intentions?"
Chen Fan laughed wryly, "Okay, I'll close it then."
"Just kidding."
As she spoke, Su Ruochu had already walked in with her hands behind her back, taking light, casual steps.
This bedroom was even smaller, only around 7-8 square meters. After putting in a single bed and a desk, there was basically no room left.
Chen Fan patted the non-existent dust on the bedspread. "Have a seat. You're the first girl to come into my room and sit on my bed."
Su Ruochu turned her head, her expression seeming to smile yet not quite.
"What does that mean? You're thinking there will be other girls coming in here too?"
"Cough cough..." Chen Fan cleared his throat. "What I mean is, you're the first and also the last one."
"That's more like it."
Su Ruochu gave a slight hmph, then curiously began looking around this small room.
Su Ruochu seemed to want to find traces of Chen Fan's first twenty years from this tiny bedroom.
As for Chen Fan, he was watching Su Ruochu. He noticed one thing, today's Su Ruochu was clearly more lively than usual, even joking around with him.
It seems my proactive request to visit her home was the right move.
"I didn't expect your bedroom to be so clean and tidy," Su Ruochu looked around and remarked with a tone of admiration.
"Do you usually clean it yourself or do your parents help tidy it up?"
Chen Fan smiled, "When I was in school, I cleaned it myself."
"Although I wasn't good at studying, I had to at least keep my desk neat and tidy. I have a mild case of obsessive cleanliness disorder, too much messiness makes me feel anxious."
Su Ruochu recalled that Chen Fan's desk always seemed very clean and organized back in school.
"But after going to university, my mom basically helped tidy up this room. She doesn't move my things around, just comes in to wipe the desk and sweep the floor."
Su Ruochu stood up curiously looking at this desk, which was still filled with high school textbooks, study materials, and test papers.
On the wall in front of the desk were many paper slips stuck up. Curiously leaning in to take a closer look, she saw they were English vocabulary words, chemical formulas, and some self-motivating catchphrases.
As Su Ruochu read them, the corners of her mouth couldn't help curving up into a smile.
"Your study style is quite similar to mine."
She randomly pulled out a book, it was the senior year Chinese literature textbook.
Su Ruochu flipped through a few pages with a smile, but then a slip of paper fell out from between the pages.
Su Ruochu froze, instinctively picking it up, only to find it was an extremely blurry photograph.
The scene depicted was a senior year classroom, amidst piles of textbooks and test papers. A girl with a single ponytail sat diligently at her desk writing, the sunlight from the side enveloping her in a golden glow.
"This... this looks like me."
Su Ruochu looked up at Chen Fan in a daze.
"You... when did you take this photo? How did I not know?"
Chen Fan took the photo and glanced at it, his heart skipping a beat.
Even he had forgotten when he took this photograph.
But he quickly realized this must have been taken by his previous self, before his reincarnation.
"Oh this one? Back then Guo Shuai brought his family's camera to school to play around. He must have snapped this photo unintentionally."
Su Ruochu stared at Chen Fan, "Then how did it end up in your hands?"
Chen Fan: "Cough cough, at the time I thought it turned out quite nicely, so I had him develop it and give me a copy."
Su Ruochu kept staring: "Really, just like that?"
Chen Fan shrugged: "Okay, I'll be honest. This was me using Guo camera to secretly take a picture of you."
Only then did Su Ruochu smile in satisfaction.
"So you had a crush on me back then. Looks like you had this planned all along."
She then flipped through and found a few more slips of paper in the books. Opening them up, Su Ruochu's face lit up with delight.
"Ah, aren't these the note papers we passed back and forth before the college entrance exam?"
"You kept them all?"
It was a thick stack of note papers, each one filled with writing, recording the days in senior year when Chen Fan and Su Ruochu passed notes to each other.
Chen Fan smiled, "I've kept everything about you."
Su Ruochu's eyes sparkled, clearly touched by his words.
"Smooth talker, so glib with your words, what are you up to?"
"I want to..."
Suddenly Chen Fan flashed a mischievous grin. Without warning, he swiftly leaned over and quickly planted a kiss on Su Ruochu's lips.
Su Ruochu was completely caught off guard. Her face instantly flushed red, then she nervously glanced towards the bedroom door.
Her small hand lightly swatted at Chen Fan a couple times.
"Are you trying to get us killed? Someone might see..."
