Chapter 215: What’s There to Argue About

Chapter 215: What’s There to Argue About

Ashley Shaw observed Jillian Lynch’s reactions a few times and knew that although Jillian was thick-skinned, her psychological defenses were weak due to her young age. If she entered the police station, she’d probably confess in less than two minutes. She said indifferently, "Since we can’t figure it out ourselves, let’s let the police figure out the truth. I have faith in the police’s abilities."

As soon as she finished speaking, Jillian Lynch’s face indeed turned pale.

Her sister, Rosalind Lynch, suddenly said, "No way!"

Ashley Shaw looked up, "Are you afraid because you have a guilty conscience?"

"Who said we have a guilty conscience? It’s just that our family just had some issues recently, and we can’t get involved with the police now."

If the paparazzi took a photo, all the family’s recent efforts would be wasted.

Ashley Shaw found it amusing.

"What does your family’s problem have to do with us? Isn’t it about clarifying the situation, so we’re asking them to figure it out? It’s the fastest solution."

Rosalind Lynch’s brow furrowed so tightly it could pinch a fly.

"I said no! Besides, hasn’t this issue been clarified? It was just a few words exchanged, your friend accidentally fell into the pool, that’s all. Why do you insist on clinging to it?"

"Am I the one clinging, or are you twisting the facts?"

"You—"

Rosalind Lynch was about to retort when suddenly Warren Prescott’s deep voice came from the pool entrance.

"What’s worth arguing about over such a trivial matter?"

Ashley Shaw instinctively turned towards the voice.

At some point, Warren Prescott had changed out of his wet clothes.

He wore black slacks over house slippers and a neatly ironed white shirt with two unbuttoned buttons at the collar, giving him a casual air.o see.

As he operated the device, he explained to the curious looks, "Mr. Prescott Jr. and I went next door, there’s a surveillance camera there facing our pool."

Claudia Jennings’ eyes widened instantly.

"Facing our pool? Isn’t that perverted?"

Assistant Mark quickly said, "No, next door is rented by a foreigner. Their pool is under construction."

"The foreigner is renting; they’re afraid something might get damaged during construction, and they’d have to compensate the landlord, so they set up surveillance as a precaution."

"But they never actually watched the footage, it wasn’t set up for spying purposes."

"And after we told them our renovation was done, they took down the surveillance right in front of us."

Claudia Jennings remembered that next door was indeed rented by a foreigner.

He moved in less than six months ago, a director for a multinational company temporarily stationed in Veridia.

"Can their surveillance capture this side?"

"We’ve looked through the footage roughly. Though it’s a bit blurry, it clearly shows what’s happening."

Claudia Jennings nodded, "Then let’s review the footage! The truth will be clear after watching."
