Chapter 413: A Secret Murderer Does Not Compensate for a Life (3)_1

"There’s something in the Blood Pond. I never imagined the Zhuge Family would actually be performing Blood Poisonous Insect Refining, not at all," Ye Second Young Master muttered, his expression solemn as he gazed at the churning crimson pool. "What is a Blood Poisonous Insect?""A Blood Poisonous Insect is the product of an evil cultivation method. Regardless of the victim’s gender, their blood is drained drop by drop, accumulating over days and months."

"Could the Hidden World Village really have enough people for them to conduct Blood Poisonous Insect Refining?" Shangguan You frowned, staring at the full pond and the countless corpses and skeletons strewn across the ground, her heart turning to ice.

"Didn’t you notice the clothes on these corpses?" Ye Second Young Master said coldly. "A large number of them are clearly not from the Hidden World Village. They must have been captured from the outside."

Shangguan You’s sharp eyes spotted cell phones on the corpses, along with clothes—colorful and varied—that one would only wear in the outside world.

"What’s the use of a Blood Poisonous Insect?"

"Blood Poisonous Insects possess formidable destructive power; a single one can take on a hundred foes. They have no emotions and obey only their master’s commands. If such a Blood Poisonous Insect were released into the mundane world, it could make an entire city vanish in an instant."

Shangguan You gasped again. Suddenly, her mind flashed back to that time at the beach, when Zhuge Yang, Yang Wulang, and the others had met to discuss that large deposit. Could it be that these Blood Poisonous Insects were being refined for the people of G Country, to be used against them?

"Is there any way to deal with them?" Shangguan You’s brow furrowed. Whether for the Shangguan Family or for all people, she couldn’t let these Blood Poisonous Insects escape and endanger humanity. She didn’t harbor any savior aspirations. All she wanted was for the Shangguan Family to live safely in this world, for no one to dare bully them, and for them to stand at the very pinnacle.

"Kill them."

"How do we kill them?" Shangguan You waved her hands. A pale blue Water Element surged towards the Blood Pond. "Ice Seal!" she uttered softly. The entire Blood Pond, and even the stone chamber itself, were instantly sealed in ice.

"It’s useless," Ye Second Young Master said coldly. As if to prove his words, with a CRACK, the layer of ice above the Blood Pond shattered and dissolved into the crimson liquid. GURGLE... GURGLE... A figure, dripping with blood, slowly rose from the depths of the Blood Pond.

"How terrifying!" Shangguan You exclaimed, hiding behind Ye Second Young Master and peeking at the figure in the Blood Pond.

"So, you’re not as brave as you seem; you do get scared," Ye Second Young Master said coldly. Yet, deep down, he felt an inexplicable flicker of joy at her reliance on him.

"Anyone would be scared of a person drenched in blood like that!"

"I dealt with the werewolf. This one is yours," Ye Second Young Master stated, smoothly sheathing his longsword and giving Shangguan You a push forward. If she can’t even handle this, then she truly isn’t worthy of standing by my younger brother’s side. Besides, the Ye Family would never allow her to become their matriarch.

"Ye Second Young Master, you inhuman bastard!" Shangguan You roared, kicking out at the blood-drenched figure lunging towards her.

Her Golden Needle flashed, swiftly piercing the major acupoints of the blood-soaked figure. With a heavy SPLASH, the figure plunged back into the Blood Pond.

Blood splattered everywhere, and the contents of the Blood Pond sloshed violently.

"They have no sensation and feel no pain. They’re like the living dead. To eliminate it, you must make it vanish from this world completely," Ye Second Young Master’s icy voice stated. Just then, the blood-soaked figure leaped from the pool again, rushing toward Shangguan You.

"Water Chains!" Shangguan You called out softly. The chains of water wrapped around the figure’s limbs, suspending it in mid-air. Blood streamed from its body as it struggled.

Shangguan You unleashed her Plum Blossom Divine Needle—all thirty-six of them—instantly immobilizing the blood-soaked figure, rendering it completely motionless.

SWISH! Ye Second Young Master’s longsword flashed, severing the figure’s limbs before plunging into its heart.

The blood-soaked figure’s eyes widened, and then it moved no more.

"Such womanly compassion," Ye Second Young Master muttered, sheathing his longsword with a flick of his wrist. He shot Shangguan You a cold glance. She hadn’t struck to kill. If this thing had escaped, did she even realize how many would have died by its hand?

Shangguan You rolled her eyes and withdrew the Water Chains. Murmuring an incantation, she directed the Earth Element to absorb the blood from the pond into the ground. As the crimson liquid vanished, a horrifying sight was revealed at the bottom: a mountain of skeletons. Among them, the fresh corpse of a small child, covered in bite marks, sent a deeper chill through Shangguan You’s heart.

"See? Blood Poisonous Insect Refining requires feeding them human flesh. These people weren’t just killed; their bodies were fed to those things," Ye Second Young Master stated coldly. "Clear out the bottom of the pond. The exit should be down there."

"Alright." Shangguan You nodded. She directed the Water Chains to clear the debris from the pond floor, revealing a small switch. Ye Second Young Master jumped down first into a dark, secret chamber below. Shangguan You followed.

"This must be the Zhuge Family’s secret experimental base, where they conduct their unsavory business," Ye Second Young Master said softly as they descended lightly. This area was different from the stone chamber; a long corridor stretched before them, lined with individual rooms on both sides. They had to be quite far from the rockery by now.

It was deep in the night, and all the room doors were tightly shut. Everyone inside should be sound asleep by now, Shangguan You thought. She rapidly formed hand seals, casting a sleep talisman. This will ensure that whoever is sleeping will remain so until morning, no matter what we do. "Let’s go. We’ll check one room at a time," she then said softly, opening the first door.

Inside, she saw various medicinal herbs, laboratory equipment, and even people resting. Gazing at the sleeping figures, Shangguan You formed another hand seal and cast another talisman.

"Where do you get all these strange things?" Ye Second Young Master asked. He watched her peculiar hand seals put everyone into a deep sleep, and recalling how she could also suddenly awaken people, he couldn’t help but ask curiously.
