Chapter 411: A Secret Murderer Does Not Compensate for a Life (1)_1
Within Shangguan You’s space dimension, the Spiritual Energy was naturally more abundant than outside. Moreover, her cultivation method differed from others, so she merely intended to give her family the things that others coveted.Large red peonies seemed to float past her eyes, and then Mudan’s enchanting figure materialized in front of the rockery. Shangguan You hadn’t expected the visitor to be Mudan.
Mudan’s wide skirt traced a beautiful arc mid-air before she landed steadily beside the rockery. She took a bottle from her sleeve and sprinkled its contents into the pool. The powder quickly merged with the water, disappearing completely.
"Zhuge Family, let’s see you reap what you sow," Mudan chuckled lightly, then her red figure swiftly departed. She came and went like a shadow, leaving no trace. It seemed Mudan had long known there was poison here, so she arrived and left with great speed.
"I never thought Mudan would be such an expert in poisoning," Shangguan You remarked with a sigh. Looking at the now even clearer and more limpid pool, her lips curled into a sinister smile. Since you’re willing to use poison, then I’ll just add fuel to the fire and make it burn even brighter.
She took out some powder from her space. It emitted a faint green glow—this was the snake venom she had refined. Back when she was besieged by venomous snakes in the military, she had meticulously refined every snake tossed into her space, adding countless other toxins to the concoction.
She scattered the poison into the pool. Instantly, the water began to bubble and churn—GURGLE! GURGLE! GURGLE!—and the crocodile at the bottom floated up, belly exposed.
She then took out another bottle of medicine and sprinkled the powder on the crocodile. In an instant, the crocodile’s body, bones and all, dissolved into the water, vanishing swiftly. Shangguan You waved her hands, and some white powder sprinkled down onto the lotuses. The Zhuge Family prides itself on medicine and poison in Hidden World Village; now they’ll get a taste of my poison.
"You’re using poison?" Ye Ershao asked. He stood beside her, watching her actions, his voice faint and his expression unreadable.
"Can’t I?" Shangguan You rolled her eyes and scoffed coldly as her body flew towards the top of the rockery. Her gaze swept over the pavilion above. She brushed aside the water curtain covering the rockery and, with a light gesture inside, a hidden door appeared before her.
"Let’s go," Shangguan You commanded softly, her black figure already dashing into the hidden door. Ye Ershao’s eyes flickered, and he followed her in. Just as their figures slipped inside, the stone door closed rapidly, returning to its original state.
Inside the dark chamber, Shangguan You and Ye Ershao exchanged glances then proceeded down the stone steps. Beneath the rockery lay a narrow passage, just wide enough for two people, winding its way forward into complete darkness.
"Where does this lead?" Shangguan You asked, puzzled. The further they walked, the more she felt an icy chill.
"I don’t know," Ye Ershao shook his head. If Shangguan You hadn’t been here today, I never would have known this secret passage existed.
"Let’s hurry," Shangguan You urged, using her Spiritual Energy to move faster through the dark chamber. Since we don’t know where it leads, I’d rather reach the end quickly.
At a crossroads, they both stopped, looking at the two paths in front of them. To the left was a blood-drenched path marked "Road of Death," and to the right, one decorated with a few flowers, marked "Road of Life." They exchanged a solemn glance, seeing the gravity in each other’s eyes.
"Let’s split up. I’ll take the Road of Death, you take the Road of Life," Shangguan You said, already leaping towards the blood-drenched path.
Ye Ershao grabbed her hand, halting her. "No. We don’t know what’s in here; we can’t separate," he asserted, his tone uncompromising.
"It’s because it’s dangerous that we need to check it out. Isn’t it better if we split up?"
"We go together. First the Road of Death, then the Road of Life," Ye Ershao stated coldly, pulling Shangguan You with him towards the Road of Death. They had walked only a few meters down this passage when they abruptly stopped. There was seemingly nothing there, yet both felt a sinister, menacing chill.
"What could be in here?" Ye Ershao’s brow furrowed. He pulled Shangguan You to float mid-air with him, their feet not touching the ground. This innate sense of dread, this perception of danger, made him even more vigilant.
"Who cares what it is," Shangguan You sneered. She waved her hands, scattering a handful of white powder into the air. THUD! THUD! THUD! Things began to fall to the floor. Numerous venomous creatures died there, their bellies turned upward.
"Eat these," Shangguan You tossed a few Medicinal Pills to Ye Ershao before flying ahead.
As Shangguan You advanced, she continued to scatter her poison. I don’t care if it’s human or ghost; anything that touches my poison will die without knowing how. The atmosphere within the passage was foreboding, growing colder the deeper they went. Follow current ɴᴏᴠᴇʟs on novelhall.com
A heavy, blood-drenched door appeared before them, looking just as chilling as the path. Shangguan You shivered involuntarily. I hate these kinds of things. Why make a simple door so ominous and terrifying?
"I’ll do it," Ye Ershao said, pulling Shangguan You behind him. A Silver Long Sword materialized in his hand. Channeling Spiritual Energy, he kicked the stone door open.
Beyond the stone door lay a thick fog, and a foul stench permeated the air.
The moment they stepped through the gate, it slammed shut behind them with a CREAK! They glanced at each other, then stood back-to-back, surveying the fog-enshrouded room. A few unsettling cackles echoed—KEH KEH KEH!—and two gusts of wind rushed towards them. Shangguan You’s eyes turned icy. With a sweeping motion, she unleashed a burst of powerful Spiritual Energy. Ye Ershao’s Silver Long Sword slashed towards the wind’s source.
With a BANG! and a flash of silver light, the two things swiftly vanished once more.
"What was that just now?"
"I didn’t see clearly. Looked like a monster?"
"Monster? Hmph, I don’t care if it’s human or ghost," Shangguan You murmured, tossing a handful of Rigidity Powder into the air. A powerful presence rushed towards them. Shangguan You’s figure flashed as she dodged, letting the thing lunge into empty air. THUD! It seemed to hit the ground, then scrambled back up towards the wall.
