Chapter 398: The Mysterious Hidden World Village (3)_1
"Why are you dressed like this?""Everyone in Hidden World Village dresses like this. Do you want them to find out you’re a time traveler? Put these clothes on, and change your appearance a bit. I don’t want to be caught as soon as we enter Hidden World Village," Ye Ershao said as he tossed a set of very rural-looking clothes over.
"Why do I have to dress like this?" Shangguan You’s lips twitched fiercely.
"The people of Hidden World Village are isolated from the world. They’ve continued the old traditions. If you dress like that, you’ll stand out as an outsider. Without a referral, you’ll be driven away or even killed."
Tang Ershao spoke coldly, "Upon entering Hidden World Village, I’ll be your cousin, and you’ll be my cousin."
"We have to fake our identities to get in?"
"I’ve already made arrangements. Take this; it’s the symbol of your identity." Ye Ershao tossed over a small Jade Token and then turned and left.
Shangguan You quickly changed into the clothes, looking more and more like a village girl with her hair braided simply. She picked up a pen and casually drew a few marks on her face, rendering her originally delicate features plain and unremarkable.
"TSK TSK, not bad. Remember to keep a low profile once we get there," Ye Ershao said coldly. He really didn’t want to return to that godforsaken Hidden World Village. But after losing to this girl, he had no choice.
"I know, cousin," Shangguan You nodded, flicking her jet-black braid. The clothes she was wearing were so damn rustic. It was embarrassing for her, a beauty, to be seen in them.
Sigh, Shangguan You cursed Ye Ershao a hundred times in her heart.
"I’m doing this for your own good. You’ll understand once we’re there," Ye Ershao said coldly, tossing his luggage to Shangguan You along with some food. "Put it away; I know you have a place for it."
Shangguan You rolled her eyes again. As night fell, Ye Ershao took Shangguan You out. A sizable silver sword flew into the mid-air.
"Come up," Ye Ershao said coldly, already standing leisurely on the sword.
"Sword Flight," Shangguan You’s eyes sparkled. How come her Medicine King Canon hadn’t taught her this skill?
"You talk too much; hurry up," Ye Ershao said coldly, pulling Shangguan You onto the sword.
"Actually, I can fly on my own."
"I know."
"Then I might as well fly by myself."
"No," Ye Ershao refused coldly. The two of them, one tall, one short, their silhouettes one in front of the other, moved swiftly through the pitch-black night.
They flew at great speed, the wind whooshing past their ears. Shangguan You had no choice but to shelter behind Ye Ershao, his large frame shielding her as she clung tightly to his back.
"How long will we fly like this before we get to Hidden World Village?" Shangguan You had to ask again after eight hours of flight. It was already five in the morning. No wonder Ye Ershao kept telling her to rest during the day.
So that’s why we were rushing.
"We’re almost there," Ye Ershao said coldly. Their bodies in mid-air slowly descended towards the ground. At five in the morning, it should be when most people were sound asleep, yet Shangguan You could clearly see many people bustling about, all lining up in an orderly fashion.
"What is this place?" Shangguan You asked curiously. The people here were dressed similarly to them, and many also descended from mid-air. Despite the wide roads, there were no vehicles in sight.
"This is the only passageway into Hidden World Village," Ye Ershao said in a low voice, pinning a Jade Token to his waist and walking to the end of the line to queue up.
Shangguan You followed his example, hanging the Jade Token at her waist as well, and stood behind Ye Ershao.
The place was reminiscent of ancient times when cities required registration to enter. At the very front, a middle-aged man with piercing eyes sat by a table, continuously scanning the people in the queue. Behind him was a passageway guarded by men in black, forbidding anyone to trespass.
"Why didn’t I know about this place before?"
"It opens at five in the morning and only for half an hour. After that half hour, everyone enters Hidden World Village, and this passage disappears. How would you know?" Ye Ershao said coldly, watching as people walked in one by one. Slowly, more and more people lined up around them.
"Did anyone ever sneak into Hidden World Village?"
"Without sufficient strength and background, entering is a dead end," Ye Ershao replied coldly. No sooner had Shangguan You finished speaking than a dashing man was subdued by the men in black and forcefully stamped underfoot.
"This place isn’t for just anyone to come and go as they please. Without a Jade Token, no one can enter."
"I’m from the Yang Family, and my Jade Token was stolen."
"Come back when you find your Jade Token. Throw him out."
Screams rang out as the man was taken away.
"What will happen to him?" Shangguan You asked softly.
"His memory will be erased," Ye Ershao replied coldly, seemingly accustomed to such scenes and not troubled by them.
Shangguan You and Ye Ershao handed over their Jade Tokens. The inspector, his gaze as penetrating as X-rays, scanned the Jade Tokens for a moment before nodding and letting them through.
"Their eyes can see through the authenticity of the Jade Tokens. The Jade Tokens contain a person’s information and appearance, much like an ID card. The Jade Token is the identity proof for Hidden World Village," Ye Ershao explained quietly.
"Right. So you dressed up like this and had me do the same to match the information on the Jade Tokens and blend into Hidden World Village."
"Right. Okay, no more talking. We’ll discuss any issues once we’re there," Ye Ershao whispered. They entered the passage, which was as dark as a cave.
"Why is it so dark?"
"After this, there will be a special vehicle up ahead that goes directly to Hidden World Village," Ye Ershao replied indifferently. However, he slowed his pace. For someone from Hidden World Village, this level of darkness was insignificant.
